There have been many instances where customer service has been seen blaming customers for any irritations with their problems, and many instances where Drunk Elephant’s social media will simply block or respond in a demeaning way to any customers that do not agree with the brand’s products or philosophy. There were two instances with skincare influencers. One influencer gathered her followers feedback on the brand and made a post on her social media stating that Drunk Elephant should improve their customer service; Drunk Elephant responded by prompting telling her she was “off the pr list and will no longer receive products”. Another influencer made a video where they disagreed with the brand’s products/philosophy, and when a commenter asked Drunk Elephant about the video made, they responded saying the influencer knows nothing about skincare and is hostile for no reason. Mind you, this particular influencer has been in the industry for a very long time and Drunk Elephant decided to undermine their knowledge. Although the influencer’s experience doesn’t really matter, because they should respond in a professional way. So all in all, Hyram believes that if you’re paying for Drunk Elephant, a crazy expensive brand, you should be treated respectfully by their customer service. They are unable to take any criticism about their products and chose to demean others instead of being professional. Therefore Hyram no longer recommends buying from this brand.
I’m obsessed with Drunk Elephant! At first I thought- no way would I ever spend that much money on a skincare line, it’s just not worth it. Then one magical day I decided to see what the hype was all about..... and OH. MY. GODDESS- I fell in love!!! I’m now using the entire line and my skin hasn’t looked this good in many, many years! Yes- it’s pricey but it’s an investment that pays off with truly healthy happy skin!
Not all their products are all that! Some of them are amazing but some are just not worth it! I used lala retro and honestly Cerave Moisturizer it just as great!!
Once you start seeing things that way you've already fallen in the marketing gimmick. There is no way you have to spend that much money on a formulation. I can guarantee you that there are effective and high quality products for half the price that do what DRUNK elephant does, and perhaps even more. I've visited plenty of dermatologists and they AlL have talked me out of even considering drunk elephant. The price points are unnecessary. It's all hype. But if someone can afford it, and it works for them good on them. I just don't believe that something should be an investment soley because it's expensive and works even if u can afford it, ehen there are equal but more affordable counterparts, that's ludicrous.
I got a free sample of the cream and was like pshh how good can it be. just tried it today for the first time and omg I was sitting in my room alone freaking out bc of how well the formula applied. I might have to spend the money for a full size
A deluxe sample of this is available as Sephora's birthday gift this year. When I got it to try, I also bought the Cerave Skin Renewing Night Cream (which also has a lot of peptides). I have been using both and like both equally. They are both a bit heavier than I'm used to, since I have oily skin, but I have come around to really loving both. They do not break me out and I like to smear a ton on. I'm just going to repurchase the Cerave since I like it as much as the DE and I can use as much as I like without worrying about the cost. B Hydra used to be my favorite hydrator because I thought it was the only moisturizer that didn't break me out, but then I discovered Cerave PM, which I think is far superior in formulation and effectiveness. The packaging of the DE products isn't impressive enough for me to pay extra, and they can say all they want in their marketing claims about sourcing and being green, but nobody knows but they do whether any of it is true.

The cerave skin renewing night cream is so nice, too. It has a purple on the label and in a tiny jar. A little goes a long way, but I use a lot for my dry skin in the winter months- temp can get town to below zero in Wisconsin.
I’ve been wanting the drunk elephant moisturizer for a long time. But I think I realized if you put any lotion in one of those pushy bottles DE has I’d be happy! 😅😂
This is one product of hundreds I’ve tried that I will never be without as long as I can help it. It’s soothing and amazing and makes me skin feel like velvet.
Living my best life and bought this last night. I got it as a free gift and used it because I liked how it feels and I wasn't allergic. When I ran out I realized that my smooth and bright skin was due to this product! I have a texture problem. Clear Brown skin... Texture! So I bought it and can't wait for the smooth glass skin I was experiencing

Did you know the Protini container, which is SO convenient, can be refilled with CeraVe?? Simply separate the green and white parts, press down on the tray, add CeraVe cream and replace top. A way to reuse and divert from landfill.
I just received the Drunk Elephant moisturizer [and Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser], from Sephora, as a Birthday Gift. LOVE it. However, I wanted to see reviews for the product [is it actually as good as I think it is], and found YOU [totally amazing and knowledgeable in skin care products]. In your video you say that, "it doesn't remove wrinkles," and I beg to differ on that! I'm 69-years-old, and the moisturizer [on my old skin], totally softens the wrinkles and gives a bit of a glow! [For me, $68 is a lot cheaper than a face lift.]

I absolutely hated that moisturizer, it left my skin feeling super dry yet it also felt like there was a greasy film on top of it (as if it hadn’t been properly absorbed even after leaving it one for a long time). It also caused a really strange rash on my chin. I stopped using it after this happened but I began using it again after seeing so many good reviews (dumbly thinking it must’ve been a one time fluke), obviously, the second time I started using it, my skin was ruined once again. Honestly I cannot understand why there are so many good reviews.
I’m a huge DE fan as well, and like you I like the DE Protini, but don’t love it. I tend to only use it at night because I do find it to be a bit heavy for the day, and I don’t have oily skin. I received a sample of the B-Hydra, and loved it. That will be my next DE purchase.

This, is the one moisturizer that works amazingly by itself, this moisturizer is the only one that I don’t have to layer up with another one. It strengthens the barrier of my skin amazingly, it’s super effective and their ingredients list is beautiful. Seeing you review it only makes me love it even more.
Hi Hyram! So I got this in my bday gift from Sephora and oh my goodness did I fall in love!!! I have like a naturally shiny face 😩 and on the oily side as well and this moisturizer was heaven in a tub! I had a different take than you I felt like it wasn’t heavy, it was just so perfect and to my surprise absolutely no shine on my face! And it was sooo hydrating for sure! I’m sadly all out and I want to buy it but Got Damn! $70+ after tax is a tad much for my bank account haha! Side note I live in North Carolina so it does get humid here but my bday is in February so it wasn’t all that humid then. Nonetheless when ever I can afford this I will be reaching for it! Absolutely amaze balls!
I got a sample of this in the Sephora birthday gift and I was excited to try DE but it clogged my pores. I wasn’t sure whether it was this moisturizer or not, but I payed close attention and realized I woke up with clogged pores every time I applied this the night before.
This thing made my skin burn the first time. However the second time I gave it a try it felt amazing. I think it burned because I wasn’t use to anything like this. Now I’m obsessed with it. I have the mini birthday size and it’s lasted a while. I don’t want it to ever run out cause $68 is pretty pricy but it’s so great I might just have to repurchase!
I used this product and it irritated my skin A LOT, I had dry patches and on my face that was red and irritated. It took A MONTH for the patches to go away. It was also painful irritation. :( I was looking forward to that product and idk why it did not work for me.
I have very dry sensitive skin made worse by Retin-A Micro use. So, I go for the heavy hitters for moisturizing. And I don’t stick with just one. I always have 3-4 moisturizers open at a time (using only one at a time though). BUT - they all sit on my skin and take a very long time to be absorbed. After this video I’m wondering if it’s not this mega humid climate in southern Louisiana! As usual, thank you so much for the great content!!
That may be it! Thicker formulas do take longer to absorb into the skin, but (in my opinion) moisturizers should never sit on the skin. Your skin won't get the benefits the moisturizer has to offer if it doesn't fully absorb! That's why I personally recommend gel creams more :) Of course!

I was able to open my protini once it wouldn’t pump anymore which was 👏🏽 since I could use it all. I’m on my second container and It feels awesome on the mornings after I use retin a! And keeps me hydrated all day!

So I got this moisturizer in a birthday gift from Sephora last year and I tried it and I honestly couldn’t tell any difference or that it was working at all. Then I started watching videos about Drunk Elephant and everyone is going on and on about how much they love this product and now I’m looking over at mine like 🤨.

I live in Hawai’i too and used this product through the summer without the same issues you had. I felt it absorbed really well. But I’m more normal to dry so that might be the difference. Love your channel!

It is a great product, I’ve been using it for about 2 years. However, this particular product is not recyclable because of the pump system. For a company that claims to care about such matters, that’s a pretty big deal. And it really bothers me. This, and their concerning behaviors (which Hyram went into a year ago, and I just found out about) make me concerned. I’m going to be looking for an alternative. @hyram what are your thoughts on this?
I don’t like to use at night too. I live in a hot country too Taiwan. I just found it’s actually make my skin feel good when I mix a little bit of drunk elephant peptide cream and EltaMD clear sunscreen together in day time. My skin loves it.
Found ACURE cream which is 92% the same ingredient. Available at Ulta and on Amazon. After bying 3 times the Protini Drunk Elephant, i tried the Acure one, and I love it (20$ Canadian).
How do you open it? How to remove the white tab on the pump? It seems to completely be completely stuck on the hole opening -- it won't just peel of like a sticker---- It's weirdly adhered to the hole.... Help !
Hi I just randomly found your channel 😄 I ran out of it today actually it was my first time buying the full size. You mentioned you liked it but it’s not your favorite which one is? I love that this doesn’t sit on my skin like others have. It’s so expensive though and it hasn’t done that much of a difference in my skin. I just love that my skin looks moisturized and it looks good under my makeup. I just can’t seem to find a dupe for it.
Oh also, um always make sure it’s done, cause their is usually more in it if you just take off the top. Cause you don’t want to put all that plastic to waste if their is still product in it.
Honestly I tried Lala Retro Cream, honestly very over hyped. I use first aid intensive hydration moisturizer! It’s way better! I regret spending $60. I legit was wth, I woke up with dry patches around my eyes. I think it dried out my skin even more. I was shocked, for $60. I expected more!

I got a little sample version of this product(I believe it came in one of my Ipsy bags) and I was SO excited to try. I’ve always heard great things about Drunk Elephant, but I’ve always been hesitant to buy any of their products cause they are a bit priced, and my skin seems like it’s constantly changing. However, when ever I’ve used this product, even when my skin does go through changes, it always seems to bother my skin and make it red and irritated. Any thoughts on why that might be happening? Is it just because my skin needs to get used to it? I’ve only used it for about four days in a row at most, and every other time I used it once, and then I did something different the next day.
this moisturizer is so great and I live in SoCals desert so 110-120 degree dry weather is intense, and although its an amazing product I can agree its pretty heavy and often times I feel like it just runs down my face in the heat:) but the best for helping sunburns or winter dry skin!
I live in Houston(always humid) and used this along with Beste no. 9 jelly cleanser, my cheeks were burning after on top of that my skin was just so oily. I really don’t get the hype
I've been using this product for a few months. I love it! I'm from Canada and began trying it in the winter so it truly does its job! I have a lot of there products. What I wanted to ask is the instructions always encourage you to mix it with something else. I'm not sure what I should be using as my day moisturizer or my night moisturizer. Do you have any suggestions on this?

The fact that you can’t tell when you’ll be running out is a bummer. The container can be opened and taken apart and you see that there is very little product left. Made me feel better about the price.

I’m in my mid twenties and I’ve been suffering from cystic acne for about a year now and have been struggling to find products that get rid of the acne/scars along my jawline and cheeks. I saw your video about acne scaring and you mentioned the T.L.C night cream for pigmentation scars. I was wondering if the TLC cream and this moisturizer would be a good match or would it cause more irritation? My skin seems to be very sensitive and I’m skeptical trying new products. Mystique Darkholme yes, that’s why I use it at night! The Tatcha is really thick & it almost kinda gives you a greasy look instead of “dewy” when applied, so I prefer it at night. But I love the hydration of it so I don’t want to give it up completely.
Hyram!! I need your help while the Sephora sale is going on. I have normal skin and hitting 25 y/o in a few months. Should I get DE Protini Cream or YTTP Adaptogen Cream? I just finished my DE Protini Cream and I liked it. However, I just realized that I can get more bang for my buck with the YTTP one. I'm looking for plumpness and penetrating moisture. I also live in the heart of LA. So any cream that can help my skin recover from daily urban life and rejuvenate my skin is a clear winner. I would love your suggestion. Thank you!
I love that moisturizer. It’s the most expensive moisturizer I’ve gotten but it’s really good. Packaging is nice.
