Nice review. I have a M7060 12 speed with cab and pretty much every option available with radial Ag tires and cast rear wheels. I have nearly 500 hours and have had zero issues. This was my 1st cab tractor and I was learly at first but man I love it! Im nearly 60 and live in the deep south and am able to get some much more done now without getting worn down due to the heat. I have a NH 3930 without a cab and a new L2501 which is super handy also.
I’d say you need the AC for sure down there. I do so much work in the woods with mine, that’s what keeps me from a cab right now. A 3930 is a nice tractor as well! Thanks for watching!
Very informative video for someone in the market for a tractor that size.I like all brands and sizes of tractors and have had 4 different brands over the years, but I am really impressed with my kubota mx5200.CAN’T WAIT TILL YOUR NEXT VIDEO COMES OUT👍
I have a B2410 with FEL and backhoe. Bought it in 2002, replaced the battery 3 years ago. Replaced the hood latch and fuel cap this year. The only other things I replaced were the seals on the front axle, a hood prop rod I bent, and the 3 point control arm link that got bent due to a little lever getting some rust on it. That's IT for 20 years of use. Like it so much I am buying an L4060 HSTC, and keeping the B2410 too. My baby bota does so much it's hard to think its a compact.
I have the 7060 8x8 with a cab and radial ag tires. I have had zero issues. It is a 18 model and I have put 600 hours on it. It is my first cab tractor and I have never regretted getting the cab. Love my Kubota. Enjoy your videos and appreciate your review on your tractor.
Another great video. I love my M6060. I just hit 1 year and almost 250 hours with mine. I bought a cab model but im in chilly north dakota and i use it to move snow and do alot of work in the fall during cold evenings. I do at times wish i still had an open air tractor when we put in food plots in the spring. If i didnt use it for snow removal i probably would have saved the $$ and went without a cab.
I’ve been happy with my Kubota L4701 that’s Cabless for the past 5yrs. While I have no need for a larger tractor like yours, Mine is actually much larger then I really need , but the price points from a smaller tractor with 4 ft implements, pushed me to the larger tractor with 6 ft implements. Plus I was scared that I would go out and get on the smaller tractor and regret it’s smaller stature. After 5 yrs , I have no complaints and I figured a little large beats a little small . Good luck, great Vlog!
I promise you’ll love it! We bought a 5045e John Deere recently but in my opinion it doesn’t even compare to a Kubota on being user friendly. Can’t go wrong with an M series Kubota. Thanks for watching
@@khtractors I was so amazed at the turning radius and how easy it drove for a 70hp tractor. I literally drove it and walked in to pay for it. I was shocked at house nice of a tractor it was and your review seems spot on to me.
I also hate only having a parking brake to rely on. I have wood blocks scattered around my general parking hotspots, because my luck the tractor will roll 30 plus yards until it hits a tree or crashes into a building. Great video!
Hey Ben I agree, not having the gears hold you when you park is a little unsettling anything could happen to the parking brake and it would be nice to have two ways to hold the machine on a hill, just a little added assurance that it doesn’t roll. Only other thing I could add is the metal guard underneath for the hydraulic hoses could be done a little different, I tore mine off the first couple months trying to clear some saplings and one got caught lol.
I agree on the the shield, I actually built a heavy duty skid plate that goes under that entire section where the hoses and filters are. I almost ruptured a filter once and said that’s not happening again. Thanks for watching!
The farm I work for has a m7060 with the upgraded transmission 12speed and it has a dedicated park that will slip right into and it holds the tractor like super glue but it is a fight and a struggle to get the transmission out of park every single time that we don’t put it in park unless we have to because it takes several minutes to jiggle the transmission out of park every time
Great video man, that tractor is a gorgeous machine no doubt! 1,500 hours she’s still a baby too! You take care of your machines too which def helps 👍🏻
@@khtractors wow not bad on feul thats pretty good there great feul enfishioned my town goes through feul on a newholland tractor wich have to fill it up every week wich the towns kubota mower dont have to fill up every time wich kubotas are the best products and great feul enfishioned
I had an M6040, same tractor just without the DPF, at any rate it was a great tractor and I loved it. The only thing I would have changed is the location of the hand throttle because sometimes my knee would bump it. Also as a guy that went from an M6040 open station to an M5-111 cab, I'll just say I wouldn't go back to an open station. Also my M5-111 is only about an inch taller than the M6040. I know it doesn't look like it but I actually took a tape measure to the dealership and measured the M5 before I bought it.
I like the M5 series tractors a lot, probably my favorite look of the newer Kubota’s. Yes I’m sure if I had a cab I’d think, how did I ever make it before. Thanks for the information and the comment!
11:15 I think most tractor owners like the R4 because it is wider and looks good. Personally, since 99.9% of my work on the tractor will be in dirt and woods I opted for the R1 tires. I do have to be careful not to ride on the lawn areas but other than that I want the ability to get out of muddy situations and have better overall traction.
I have the R4’s on my L4701, yes they are a lot wider, but what most seem to never mention is the added stability it gives the tractor with a much wider stance. And the R.4’s offer better traction then you might think. Messecks did a head to head comparison with the AG tires and you might be surprised by the results.
I absolutely 100% completely agree with R4 tires not making some people happy. If you're on flat ground, in the yard, and hard surfaces most of the time, rock those R4 tires. If you want to do legitimate ground engagement, logging, hills, mud, then get them R1 Ag tires.
I’m very pleased with all my Kubota equipment. Dad told me one time I was going to wear that Kubota out. I said I didn’t buy it to look at.🤣 Hope the house is going well! Thanks for watching.
White Pine Woods our 2008 L4330 has 5500 hours and still going strong and reliable. Just pick up a new M7040dt with quicke x26 loader should be a handy tractor.
That’s one of the beefiest wood built shops I’ve seen. Trusses look like they’re made completely from 2x6 and to top that off they’re all cradled in the posts. Purlins on the roof are all laid vertically too.
How often do you have to put def fluid or maybe when warranty runs out is way to delete - People's doing on pickups- I was Looking at 5660 guess same except 6060 turned up some - Haven't research ed The dealer days it maybe 4-5month waiting list - Might just go w/ Standard trans AG tire MX 5400- Thanks for video
This one doesn’t take def fluid it just has the exhaust filter and burns itself out once full. The M6060 is actually more deluxe then the 5660. The M6060 and 7060 are the exact same tractor except rear wheel size and the fuel is turned up on the 7060. Thanks for watching!
I have a m4800 with about 3500hrs that I have owned for about 12years and i have a m5660 with about 500hrs on that I have owned for 2 years. They both have been reliable and I haven't done any thing but normal maintainence to either of them.
Wish I could afoord one like that, heck I wouldn’t have anywhere I could use it either. lol Have an old Kubota l2850dt and love my little tractor. It’s a beast for its size and feels more powerful than the newer models with the same claimed horsepower. I don’t understand how or why but it must just have way more torque. It will run a 72” bush hog with complete ease when the newer equal hp model Kioti struggles. I’m sure the Kioti having the hydrostatic transmission eats up some power but to struggle with a bush hog that the Kubota runs easily is just nuts.
I know this is an older video so I might not get a reply, but I was curious about something. That towing setup you have to tow the tractor on looks pretty beefy. Do you have a CDL? Not sure what state you're in but over here in VA people don't realize that if you get stopped and they want to look into your weight, they don't see how much total weight you're moving until after they've checked the gvwr sticker on the truck and your trailer. If they add up to 26,001 lbs and you dont have a CDL they will slap a stack of tickets and fines on you. I really want a single rear wheel 3500 and a nice gooseneck to tow my 7,000 lb tractor instead of pushing my tundra but I dont think I can legally do it without getting a class A of some sort.
You would be fine towing that tractor with a 2500 or 3500. You can also tag the vehicle under its factory gvwr if needed to stay under the requirements. My truck is tagged with farm plates which exempts the cdl requirements. I do have a class B though. With a 3500 truck and only a 7000 lb tractor unless you had a really heavy trailer you wouldn’t be over 25000. I’m in Virginia as well.
Hey nice review. I have a Grand L3240 open cab and wished I had a windshield. Where did you get your windshield at. This is my 2nd kubota and I love it.
@@khtractors could I get a picture of your windshield and how you mounted it to your roof and down below. I have been struggling to figure the mounting of one and I was also thinking of plexy glass. Thanks
I bought my tractor in large part because of your videos. I agree about the cab. I’d like one, but I’ve pushed on trees with them and they sound like they’re going to come apart. I spent a lot of time worrying over busting the glass to the point it changed how I operated the tractor. Like you, if I could afford to buy one to operate out of the woods I would. But until Santy drops it off on my doorstep, it’s not happening. I am glad to finally see your heater. Need more info on it. I need something like that for my left hand - as it’s a replant and can’t take the cold.
Hey Mark glad to here from you! Hope all is well! The heater came from the original tractor cab company online. Or I think that’s were I got it. It was around $60. Have a good day!
Great video review, I think you should patent that windshield idea...I looked hard at the same tractor you have and due to a great deal coming along in a used new holland I ended up with the new holland. I also had the same thoughts about a cab as you however the new holland that I ended up with has a cab, and what I have found is the small amount of extra caution you have to take in , near and around the woods is worth it. I have owned 5 tractors over the last 15 years and still own 2, I never considered a cab and never really wanted one due to the same concerns you have. If I had bought a new tractor I would have bought open station and not spent extra on anything but a canopy. If I had seen your windshield idea and setup before I bought ......I would have still bought an open station over the cab and done exactly what you did.....Great video
Nice to hear your thoughts! I like hearing about other peoples experiences. It helps us all when making decisions. The windshield has been awesome when it comes to rain, it helps slightly in the cold. I took it off one summer and after two days got caught in a big rain storm while on the road with it. Windshield hasn’t been off since then. Thanks
@@khtractors I would absolutely LOVE one of those windshields like that for my L4400 when I go running through the woods. I absolutely hate spiders, have arachnophobia like nobody's business, and it drives me nuts every time I drive right through a spider web trying to get to the back parts of the property.
If the tractor is off it will not hold in place in gear like old gear drive tractors. The 12 speed does have a park gear. This is my biggest complaint of the hydraulic shuttle. Hope that helps.
@@khtractors Well, that's "interesting" to say the least. Just started doing research on a potential new tractor purchase in the next 18 months. My experience to date is on a 1960 Ford 801 series. Obviously a LOT has changed. I'm in southern West Virginia so, as you well know, "flat" is more the exception than the rule around here terrain wise. That lack of locking in gear is a factor I'll definitely need to keep in mind. Thanks for the quick reply.
Very helpful Ben. You are right.... best option- buy two! $$$. I am going to the largest Kubota dealer (In this area) today. I am hoping to look at yours with cab and the MX6000. This decision is going to drive me to drink. Take care and thanks again.
Your doing it right by taking time and doing your homework before purchasing! It’s stressful I know, big investment. Not sure drinking will help😂. Good luck! Thanks for watching!
What tractor did u pick and why? I have a small horse farm with 10 acres of hay. I also do 15 acres of hay for others. I test drove an m7060 and mx5400 on my property. The m7060 is to big and bulky for getting around my barns. Plus the manual trans is annoying. I didnt like the loader joystick. The mx 5400 was much better for me. Way better turning. Cvt trans is so much easier and faster for loader work. My equipment can all be run with 50 to 60hp.
@@crazyhass84 Just incase Mike doesn’t see this it’s my understanding he hasn’t purchased anything yet. I just spoke with him the other day. Everyone’s needs are different, personally I’d never buy a hydrostatic tractor over 40hp but some people like them. Sounds like you might be better off with the hydrostatic transmission in your application. Best of luck!
@@khtractors i agree for real farming hydro is no good. However, i only have 1 tractor for mowing, plowing snow, hauling manure, feeding hay, making hay etc. 1000x easier and more fun with a smooth cvt!
@@crazyhass84 you can’t go wrong with Kubota! You just have to look over me on the dislike of hydrostatics I still prefer manual over automatic in vehicles too 😂. Once a person gets use to the hydraulic shuttle on the M series it’s great, no clutching from forward to reverse and at times I’ll use the shuttle lever to declutch and change speeds. But I have to admit the MX sounds like it fits your needs the best. Stay in touch! Thanks
You achieve different track settings by how the rim mounts to the center disc and if the center disc is flipped inside or out. Also you may have to totally change sides of the tractor with the wheels so the tread is pointed correctly.
@@khtractors I love it great running engine pluse the operators platform is laid out nice. I didn’t like the operator’s platform on the 2615 either it was cramped for me
If you had narrowed a purchase down to either the M6060 or john deere 5055e would you still choose the kubota? I can't decide tractor would mainly be used for hay harvesting. Thanks
I also have a 5045E now. The Kubota in my opinion has a better overall build quality and much more comfortable than a Deere at least on the open station platform. I’m at almost 2300 hours now on the Kubota. Last fall I had to replace the front axle seals and bearings about $500 but that’s the only repair I’ve done. Thanks
@khtractors I knew you had the john deere been a long time subscriber but I tried to rake some of my fields with a massey 2wd and here in the mountains of North Carolina you can get in trouble quick with a 2wd tractor. I learned the hard way lol
I’d need to measure that but I’m thinking it’s around 14 ft to 16 ft. It takes a long trailer to haul them with anything attached to the rear. On my gooseneck I set the loader on the neck and pull almost totally forward to give room behind. Thanks for watching!
The only comparison in my opinion between Mahindra and Kubota is Mahindra is cheaper. If you can afford a Kubota you’ll never regret it I don’t think. We bought a 5E Deere last year and build quality on Kubota is superior to it as well. I have 2150 hours on this tractor. I did replace some front bearings recently but that was self inflicted by having the front set out so wide. Mahindra is a decent tractor but right now Kubota I feel makes the most dependable tractor out there. Thanks
I was interested in Mahindra for quite a while, but just purchased a Kubota M6060 less than a week ago. I looked for 3 years because I also had to get a barn built so I could park it inside. I like that Kubota builds everything on their tractors themselves and I think Kubota will hold its value better over time. They’re going to be a little more money initially, but I’m glad I landed on Kubota.
It’s great! In my opinion you cannot go wrong with a M6060/7060. I bought a 5E Deere recently just for the deal they had on it. A few things I like better then Kubota but overall Kubota wins. The Kubota has just under 2,000 hours and never been to the shop. Also steering radius on that size tractor is incredible compared to any other brand I’ve used. Also if you see loader comparison videos they don’t use the power pin holes on the lift cylinders for the Kubota. They add an incredible amount of strength but you lack some on lift height in that setting. Hope this helps. I have no fear of you being disappointed with that tractor. Thanks for watching
Speaking from somebody that just switched from a Kubota 7060 open station to a enclosed cab new Holland power star 75 4wd with loader. Get the cab. I wish I had done it years ago. I had the sane reservations as you and I’ve come to realize that the pros of the cab outweigh the cons 10 to 1. At the end of a long day in the field I’m just not as tired as I used to be. I think the noise, the dust, the heat snd cold, all just add up to be very mentally demanding Abd the cab erases all of those things and creates an atmosphere that’s as close to perfect as I believe you can get. The visibility issue was another issue I thought wouid be a down fall. The first hour or so I thought I had made a big mistake. But after a couple hoirs in the seat you will get the hang of it and you’ll never even think about it anymore
@@RockhillfarmYT I would have to look it up to see what the book says. In the power pin hole I can lift 2800 lbs because I’ve done it. I have carried as much as 3,000 but that’s pushing the limits.
Mines a cab tractor. The AC compressor just took a dump. I need to replace the left axle seal and I replaced the pto seal at 3400 hours. The front end is still pretty tight. It gets worked pretty hard and so far it’s been a dandy. I know several M series tractors used for cutting highways that have 9-10k hours on them and still run like new. By that time you’ll need to replace the complete front end, a few seals here and there and a clutch but that’s still impressive.
@@thechestnutking736 I replaced my front bearings and seals in the fall. Having my front wheels set out I think puts extra stress on the bearings plus I’ve done some pretty rough loader work. Appreciate your information.
I assume your asking about the DPF system and it autocorrected. If that is what your asking no I’ve not had any issues yet. It’s definitely something in the back of my mind that could happen. Thanks for watching!
The trailer is 20’ flat plus a 5’ dove tail. I’d like an extra 5’ overall length but with our tight curves here it would be more difficult to get around. Thanks for watching!
@@santizoslawncare8084 I always set my loader up on the neck of the trailer to give more room behind for attachments. I have hauled this tractor and my round baler together but it just barely fits.
Yes it is an 8 speed with a foot clutch and hydraulic shuttle shift which doesn’t require the foot clutch when going forward to reverse. Thanks for watching!
Kubota makes their power out of a 4 cylinder engine, everyone else makes their power out of a 3 cylinder. You have more torque and pulling power with a 4 cylinder even though the 3 cylinder has the same horsepower.
