Who would we trade in return? The White Sox proved greedy last few trade inquiries, wouldn't want to lose more prospects that ends up shining great elsewhere for a rental. Hey JD; The “New Cardinal Way” (Analytics), is the dope the Cardinal organization has put our young players on!! We don’t need new players added!! We need to leave alone those kids who hit all their life until they make the big club and got put on Analytic dope!!! 90% of the problem is Analytics!!!!!!! Bauer would be dirt cheap to sign at this point… Hire a real Manager…. Hire a new GM WITH A VISION FOR TALENT…. But it is clear St. Louis is not serious about fielding a top level team at this point. Appears they are just trying to be second or third in the National league central.. how things have changed.

No way! Bauer was a clubhouse cancer with major baggage in a number of clubs, not to mention his other baggage - legal, mental and other. Even the Japanese team didn’t keep him. He’s playing in Mexico now albeit temporarily. Don’t wish Bauer and his baggage on the Cards.

i wrote two months ago for St. Louis to pick up Pham. He won me over when he slapped an opponent in left field over a fantasy football league As usual it fell on duff ears. Now I would trade for Knizner in Texas. Maybe they would be interested in Herrera or Pages. Management really screwed up by letting him go. Carpenter, Crawford, Gio need to be let go. Try to trade them or pay them what they owed to leave. Make room for hitters.

In 2022 Skip and Yadi ran the team while Marmol stood there looking like a deer in the headlights. They are gone now and Marmol is supposedly in charge. He is the one constant in this mess. Whole teams don’t just fall apart for two years running. The firing of Shildt started this downward trend and Marmol is just exacerbating the problems.

I watched the Cardinals play against the Cubs in spring training. They obliterated the Cubs because they hit the ball. I have seen firsthand what this team is capable of when they hit the ball. That performance, mixed with good pitching, was an ace team. Then it all went away. The question is why? What happened when the season started that made them sink? Practice? Motivation? I don't know, but they really need to figure it out and get that spark again.

Pham was available all winter, half this Spring, and the Cards made no effort to bring him in when it wouldn’t have cost them a single prospect. The time to call about him was when they started the season with 4 rookies and Walker on the active roater and Nootbaar, Carlson, and Edman were all on IL. It didn’t happen then, even though I thought they should have signed him when DC got hurt, but now is not the time for that desperate move. At the end of the day, the guys in house are going to need to get it done, and I think they have until about Memorial Day to start showing a pulse. If they’re not showing life by Memorial Day, it might be time to start the fire sale, pull the plug on Oli, give Yadi the call, and start rebuilding for the future (again).

At this point: just get the 2022 HoF guys signed for one more ride! Waino replaces Matz, Yadi's already signed, so just tell him to break out the gear again, and Pujols can try to surpass Ruth. Heck, if Yadi goes 7 for 35, he'll be batting better than an embarrassing amount of hitters in our lineup.

Yes, by all means, trade them all and keep Oli. There's something going on behind closed doors that we dont know about. These guys are not performing for Oli. Maybe it's as simple as getting the saltpeter out of the Gatorade. I don't know. Like most of us, I'm sick of this glitch in the thought process that put Oli in the dugout in the first place. Then We decided that we liked Oli Ball so much that we extended him for 200 years. As much as we liked him, we found out that Joe Torre, with an under .500 record in the Lou, wasn't the manager we wanted. We then found that with the right team, he was outstanding. Maybe Oli needs to be outstanding a team without the birds on the bat. There was something I enjoyed in the White Sox series. Tom Ackerman made my ears perk up with his Jay Randolph sounding voice. I didn't know it would be the highlight of the homestand. Oh, well. Keep the faith, baby. It took the cubbies 100 years to get off the schneid. Thanks for being here JD. MIZ-

I'm sorry, he was available till after the season started. I'm tired of waiting till we desperately need someone because of bad planning. Look at a lot of players like Pham, why did we get rid of him in his prime? There is Randall Grichuk O'Neill, Ozuna, that are all better than who we kept. I was told we couldn't expect to get anything for O'Neill who was never going g to be good here. Jordan Hicks who never was going to be able to start, plus we had Mikolas and Matz, and Gio Gallegos!?! There has been more misses than hits and Big Mo disdain for what Cardinal Nation may think. We can play the who knew every year or we can stay in front of the curve. Goldschmidt, Gorman, Donovan, and Nootbar being un-tradable now doesn't seem so sage now.Putting a band-aid on this with a couple 1 year fixes in hope of making the playoffs doesn't work anymore.

I'd be game for bring Tommy back, so long as the price was right. Every team he's ever played for absolutely RAVES about how good of a teammate he is in the clubhouse, plus he can still play D AND hit. Donnie could back up Winn at SS. He's not great there, but Crawford hasn't looked any better, either. Crawford and maybe a low tier prospect for Tommy? I dunno. Won't completely shut it down, though.

Burleson grew up playing first base. Put him in the lineup EVERY DAY, then go get a stud DH. Flip MLB management the bird and sign T. Bauer regardless of the secret campaign to black ball the guy. Send Goldy to the hitting guru of his choice to straighten him out...the Cards hitting gurus (using that term loosely) have demonstrated that they are incapable of straightening him out. In fact, they are probably part of the problem.

The Cardinals have always been a bad hitting team it's just reality it was like '20 or '21 when i watched the Cardinals play the Dodgers in the postseason wild card and i saw the team in that game not ever be able to hit and eventually Chris Taylor walked it off with a solo shot to end the game. The Cardinals have always thought that pitching alone will just win a game it won't i don't understand if it's the approach at the plate or a leadership issue but it needs to be addressed.

It would be great for Oli to have some attitude. When they got rid of Schildt, that's what they lost. No matter who they get to play, the gangrene spreads to all. Can Tommy thrive here? Not sure. Players get better when they leave our team, not when they join our team.

@@nickoslekkas3336 the league has a policy in the union player contract about domestic violence, for starters. Bauer has violated that, according to league (and Dodgers' independent) investigations. Although the union supported Bauer to get his suspension shortened, they have not to my knowledge gone so far as to promote him back onto the playing field. Members have actually voted him out of their clubhouses. they don't want him back. And second, although the first criminal case file has not been prosecuted, because there was no witness who actually saw the beating he did to the woman, there is still a parallel monetary damages case in court, Bauer requested that case be thrown out, the judge denied his request, meaning the court found sufficient pre-trial evidence to continue the case, and that damages trial does not require such actual witness to find him guilty. So as long as that is over Bauer's head, you can be sure MLB will not want any future guilty verdict dumped on their plate to handle damage control related to Bauer. No team will want to be associated with that. Effectively, Bauer is not ever going to be back in MLB. Julio Urias is currently suspended and also may never play again, for the same reason, and there are others.

We shouldn’t make any trade that only benefits this season. There is no difference between 70 and 75 wins. Trading for Pham (or even a good hitter) is just a way for the FO to pretend they are active and invested in the team’s success. This season is gone, unless you care about finishing 3rd in the NL Central vs. last.

You keep talking up Contreras, and I agree as a hitter but as a catcher? Last year Contreras hit 20 homers in 400 plus at bats and you thought he was good. Knizner hit 10 homers in less than 220 bats and St. Louis said he was slumping. Saint Lewis needs to bring him back.

Bones don't heal at the same rate for everyone. The estimate cannot be made any more precisely. And be aware that even bones that heal may not be as strong as they were before broken. I had a broken bone in my hand that healed. I broke it again in the exact same place 15 years later. Contreras may never be able to hit like he did after this. The stress on the bones of his arm to swing the bat and hit the ball may be too much.

Look at our history. Every time a cardinal player leads St. Louis they do better. I’m talking about in the past several years since the cardinal team has deteriorated. We are not a strong hold anymore. We have great sans but they’re frustrated. We’re sick of getting low hanging fruit we’re sick of getting one key player that’s supposed to change the whole team and not revamp everything. If they were serious, they would go out there and get players to win. I’m sorry it doesn’t work like it used to. This is about Moneyball. But players win World Series our farm is not working. We would’ve been so much better with Stubby.

Pham went off (verbally) on the Cards ownership and organization, for "holding him back" in Sports Illustrated... and had some choice cursewords, and he was later traded that year. Cards will never bring him back.

I know we’re running out things to talk about with this bad baseball team that is the Cardinals, but we don’t need a desperation move, we need an overhaul. And that’s not happening without new ownership and new front office personnel. No disrespect to Pham as a baseball player but if he could turn a team around and was liked by the teams he’s been with he wouldn’t be bouncing around from team to team. I’m okay with a rebuild and waiting to see better baseball in the future. But as of now I’m NOT holding my breath.

Been there done that, nah. Nothing against Tommy & love his intensity on the field but this shite show needs more than one bat to wake up. Donny, Noot, Goldy & Gorman has to be better. They don't then the shite show will continue. Half way through May I dont see those turning it around enough to do anything in the standings.

Kinda like the Pham idea. I liked having him on the team before, love his attitude and work ethic. Might be a good move to shake up the team a bit. Would give those minor league guys some extra time to cook too. We could use a big shake up though. Right now we are kinda stuck in the "do the same thing, expect a different result" loop so they gotta do something.

the only move they should be making immediately, and it's so painfully obvious is firing marmol. they are desperate for new leadership. then they need to look at hitting coaches, bench coaches, pitching coaches and mozeliak next. then look at trades to retool the lineup. everyday last season I was waiting for marmols firing. and here we are watching this same train wreck carry on. get rid of him already, he's not the guy

Nothing is going to fix the team until they start with the manager Ollie Marmol, bottom line! Ever since the O'Neil incident thing's haven't been right with the team, once they get rid of the problem, I believe they will get back to playing baseball like the Cardinals way! It doesn't matter who you bring into the organization, that's not going to help, who wants to come to a dysfunctional ball club!!
