Would you Sew on Holiday?  

We're just bk from Valencia our son is studying there, omg what a fabulous city!! I also brought my sewing and crocheting on holiday!! Creativity should never wait!!!

I always bring knitting on holiday but not sewing. Great you were able to finish your shorts.

In all honesty, my travel sewing ambitions almost always fall by the wayside. Knitting on the road works better for me. Thank you for showing us that merceria! Like a candy store, what a treat it would be to have such a shop near me now. As a kid in Northern Europe I accompanied my mother often on fabric and notions buying excursions. Happy memories of imagining what a beautiful fabric could be turned into, or analyzing how we could squeeze a garment out of expensive yardage where every centimeter mattered. In a town of only 250,000 people there were two button stores and about a half-dozen fabric stores of which two had some couture quality fabrics. It's hard to remember or even imagine today, as affordable RTW from Asia has long ago displaced home sewing. I could spend a whole day combing over the vintage buttons and buckles at Lokita Botone.

I only bring knitting or crocheting when traveling 1 project light and easy to manage and can look out while working on ..

I love what you did. It is a perfect time to relax and finish a project you can use while there on holiday - as long as you don't get too hot! So looking forward to seeing more of the sewing shoppe.

We go to Aruba for 6 weeks every winter. I always make a few new things and do the finish work in Aruba by the pool.

I think I could do this. I’ve been watching videos on totally hand sewn garments; zero machine sewn. But these small items would be doable❤️

I've brought knitting on a holiday but never sewing. I'm not sure I would bring a garment to finish. I think it would be great to bring some embroidery to finish off a garment. Great idea though, just to finish off a few things. My husband just shakes his head as I try to get things finished at the last minute. I think he would think I was crazy to actually bring sewing with me.

I've really enjoyed watching both your Valencia videos! I lived in Valencia for 20 years, although we've recently moved about half an hour out of the city. I really miss my local fabric and haberdashery shops in Valencia, but I didn't know that button shop. Is it in Ruzafa? It was nice to see your holiday projects too. I'd never thought of taking sewing projects on holidays with me, only knitting.

Great idea to hand-finish at your leisure. Your shorts and culottes are beautiful and a great fit. I’m sure you will all love Valencia, my absolute favourite place was the silk museum. I’d love to know what street the vintage/haberdashery shop is on.
