Let me tell you this - we had a #4 at our gym and it is utterly impossible to close. Not only couldn't I close it, but I couldn't move it one centimeter. This kid is nothing short of superhuman in terms of grip, and I say that literally. Unbelievable.
@@tortillasarenotbiceps7622 I'm with u ngl. I have closed the #2.5 for a few reps. I got the coc #4 AND the GHP 10 which is even harder than coc #4 and I have NO chance to close em. Barely half way there.
Went to high school with Ivan, was lab partners with him in physics. He was a quiet smaller kid back then. After the pandemic never heard or saw him again. Crazy to see him pop up in my recommends after I started to work on grip strength. Good for him, he worked his a** off.
@@omgwtfpwnd from the little I know about steroid use, it makes muscles grow but not the sinews. Doesn’t seem like steroids would help: they might even make a tendon snap. So, no, I don’t think this kid is doing that. I wonder if he will do a #5 by the time he is 30…
@@kennethjaffe576 you know nothing about roids, they literally make your tendons stronger and you become stronger overall with less recovery time, you are so full of 💩🤡
Certainly seems that way on camera. But fame and fortune have a funny way of inflating one’s ego. I’m not saying Larry is not humble. I’m saying we don’t really know what he’s like off camera. If I had to guess, he’s probably generally the same humble dude off camera as he is on.

This guy hides his power level and age extremely well Closing the 4 is actually crazy, he made it look so easy. He is definitely the best in the world in his weight class for grip strength
Ivan is already a Certifed Ironmind #3 and #3.5 gripper and, after watching this performance, will no doubt be listing at #4 very soon. The last time this was crushed was way back in 2004 (pre-rule so is harder now). Well done Ivan and expect to see you listed soon .Wish you all the best mate!! Thanks Larry, please stay in touch with Ivan and make sure he gets #4 certified! At this rate, Ironmind will have to make a #4.5 & #5 for this guy lol.
Tell us more about your workout, etc. How to reach this resulta? Like yours. In my opinion just do certain of variations, give rest, do negative squeezes, etc.
As someone who's had most of the COC grippers for over 10 years at this point, even with direct purpose training, the chance of the average person ever even coming close to closing the #4 is low at best. Just to give someone who has never closed one of these grippers an idea... the vast majority of people can't close the #1 out of the box. It takes 140lb (64kg) of pressure to close it. The #4 takes 365lb (166kg) of pressure to completely close. As mentioned in the video, even some of the worlds strongest men, guys who deadlift 1000lb+ can't even budge the bars past parallel. Make no mistake, what this guy is doing, especially considering his age and size, is an amazing feat of grip strength.

The thing I love about arm wrestling videos by you, or Devon or whoever is the number of monsters you guys find with insane skill, attributes or potential. Love this stuff.
This is such a insane accomplishment, more people have been to the moon than closed a #4! Let alone a teenager. I cannot wait to see what he does in the future Iron Mind might have to make a #4.5 just for him 🤯💪🤛🏼
I bought a #1 coc and trained my grip for a good 3 months until I could do 15 reps with a pause. Then I had to train for a month with the #2 until I could completely close it. Now I can do 2 reps with a pause. I can barely even move #3. This guys grip strength is unreal.
@@MainStreamRegimeDemocrats yes there is a guide, sport and trainer 3 different ones before no1 but I just bought the no1 not knowing haha,I will see how difficult it is and if it is ridiculous will purchase one of them.
Nice to meet you! I am a Japanese grip strength person. I really enjoyed your video and I was surprised at how easily he closed 3.5 and also closed No4. I want to be like him someday

@@ericvazquez2225 if you cant close it yet, get as close as you can, then use your other hand to assist it completely closed then do a slow negative. That's my strat
I got them all, the way He closed the number 3 is insane. The number 4 is like chrushing a brick. Crazy hand strengh genetics. Absolutely nuts and even at 19. Closing a 2,5 first time, he is a freak for sure and not even making a face, total domination 😁👍
Are there other ways to train these even if your hands are super small? My hands are so tiny that the Grippers are basically very hard to position properly for me. I can close a 1,5 but only if I use my other hand to set it beforehand. Also, I can't close a 2 yet, I am getting kinda close but it's not enough. How to train for this? Do more repititions with the 1,5?
@@CanariasCanariass Look up gripper choking. There are different ways to do it but basically you use a clamp to make the handles closer together. You could also look into other brands of grippers that might be narrower.
I'm so glad you finally brought recognition to this guy! He already had my admiration when I found his channel a few months ago after searching youtube for someone who was able to close the CoC #4. Ferocious grip strength!
Ivan competed at Armlifting USA's Arnold Armlifting Championship. He was invited as a 90kg lifter but weighed a pound or so over. No worries, he got 3rd in the 100kg class on a bunch of lifts he doesn't even train for. He's incredible.
This video gave me the strength to close my #2 for the first time, im not even kidding ive owned this gripper for 2 months and just closed it after the kid said that he unpacked the grippers and just closed them, i did the same thing, i keep it in bubble wrap, i unwrapped it and closed it just like that. Im so proud of myself right now.
Been using these grippers for a few years now - with some other grip equipment as well - and I would love to follow a grip training program from someone more experienced like these guys. I don't know if grip is so different from person to person - hand size/finger length/etc. - that a plan is too hard to develop, but I'd like to learn more. I've developed my own series of exercises, but realistically I'm just winging it.
Larry is such a good ambassador for the strength and fitness world. His many interests may somewhat keep him from reaching his absolute peak in any of them but it gives him and excellent understanding of so many different areas that he can really appreciate what the people he brings on are doing. And I love that he's kind of dedicated himself to helping young up and comers get exposure thru him. Such a good person, and we need more like him!
I think that a lot of people watching this video don't quite grasp how impressive this is. Out of all the videos on Larry's channel this is probably the most insane feat of strength we've seen.
Right it's just so casually a once in a generation and record-breaking performance. Statistically these amazing feats must happen around the world but the cameras aren't on.
I bought one of those cheap plastic adjustable grippers at Office Max on a whim a couple months ago and somehow became addicted to it. Now I'm looking more into it and see theres a whole world of grip training and certification. Definitely my new favorite hobby.
I actually ordered the CoC #1 and #2 after watching this video, to see just how hard they are. I have above average grip strength so I thought I might be in with a shot. These things are so hard to close! I was able to close the #1 immediately, but the #2 i'm a centimeter short, it's going to take time to beat. The idea of a #3 or #4 seems impossible, this guy is out of this world!
Larry was so genuinely happy and kind of proud after the guy closed the CoC 4. He was like “how is he not going crazy after a PR like that?!” Also, it looks like having Larry around will increase your chances of hitting a PR ahah
Closing a #4 at 19 is incomprehensible lol. It makes me wonder if he’s also great at armwrestling, usually people with strong grips also have strong wrists. I’d like to see him AW Larry.
crushing grip isn't that important in AW in fact. It other forms of gripping/cupping the hand etc. Actually gripping your opponent's arm as hard as you can before the start is more a rookie mistake than anything
he has a very strong grip with very kind face no one will think he is able to close it until they watch him crushing the grippers, hats off man what a performance. hope you have a channel or account on social media .
It's hilarious how humble these too are. It's like they're having a humble-off 🤣🤣 Larry thanks for being a straight up good guy. And thank you for using your platform to showcase amazing people like Ivan. All the best sir
@@HulkSmashB Yes, THE PLANET. You've never touched a COC #4 if you think otherwise... I close the #3, it took me about 5 years of training to get there. I've NEVER seen anyone close my #2.5. The #3.5 literally feels double the #3, and the #4, forget about it.
Larry, you need to get that guy on the Dynamometer and see what his all out grip strength measures. I bet it’s higher than Levan and higher than Vitaly!
@@helgedragseth4599 3 years ago Levan was at 127kg, Vitaly was at 122kg. There is a video on a Korean channel that did the test with top armwrestlers. Nowadays Levan is probably in the high 130s or 140s. Video name is 'Unbelievable Results! Grip Strength of World Armwrestling Champions!!!'
@@Shouttz Vitaly is 159.3 kg at the moment, Ivan is 132.80 kg. Which is still insanely impressive. As is Tobias Sporrong, the swede. At 25 years, he has recorded 152,6 kg, and is not a "gripper trainer". These guys have good genetics for sure.
Lots of ppl dont even show their power or abilities i have known this for years. So of course its ppl out there with ridiculous power but they are off camera and not attention seeking in the least bit. Met maybe 2 who had insane power. And they stay away from ppl and both did not talk much. So its quite normal .
@@1bossofbosses yeah but he's the only one I've seen that didn't shake to close the 3.5 that's why that makes more even impressive, he also did 4 reps on a 3.5 Gripper watch his RU-vid channel
Crushing the #4 is an extremely admirable feat of strength! The aggressive knurling alone on these grippers will put a damper on your attempt to close them.
Ivan Cuk! I am so proud to see you on Larry's channel brother. You are absolutely one of the top gripper guys of ALL time. I saw your first video when you closed the 2.5. You were always interested in learning and improving technique and always supporting other fellow gripsters . Your trajectory has been unmatched! You are a very special human In the world of grip and beyond. Continue your journey, you will be a leader In the grip world for a long time! More to come. Coc 4 cert in the forseesble future. The first to possible Credit Card set a 4 under official conditions. All the best! 🖐🏻
What… the fuck. My ego is destroy in a good way. Kid has a genuine gift. Even closing the 2.5 first time out of the package is like the highest baseline I have ever heard
Great vid Larry . Love the touring and filming . Always thought this is something someone should be doing round Africa for example, like a documentary with Devon . Wanted to see what Stefania could do with the grippers but .
The ultimate grip strength test when I used to work the oil riggs in west Test in the 80s was to see if a man could break a pair of crescent CT pliers (what everyone carried) with his grip. I never seen anyone accomplish it, but heard many of stories of old timers that could
It’s funny you mention that because my dad and his buddies used to do the same thing, each time you just tighten the bolt a little more lol. Brings back memories
After 6 months of forearm training consisting of forearm curls and deadhangs, I finally decided to buy my first Captains of Crush gripper. I chose the number 1. I could not close it yesterday, but today I GOT IT CLOSED with both my left and my right hands!! Now that I have this gripper, I'm hoping I'll get a stronger grip much faster now! EDIT: HOLD UP!!! They sent me the wrong one!!! They sent me the #2!!! I just checked, and there's a 2 on the bottoms of the handles!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I came back to this video because I bought #2. I decided to skip 1 and 1.5 because I had a 55kg gripper that I can rep. Been 2 weeks and I still can't close the 2 I'm like less than 1cm away from closing it and my best attempt was like around 5mm. Maybe if I started with 1.5 and had some time to play with it I would've closed #2 out of the package but that's exactly why I shot for #2. Delivery is VERY expensive here. Costs almost as much as the product itself. Came back to check out for some tips and I think I might have to get one of those resistance bands. I'm 21 and I have super small hands might even be to my advantage tbh. So don't get discouraged if you have small hands it's absolutely possible.
Very cool Larry. I like that you find raw talent and give them an opportunity to showcase their skills. Thanks for sharing. And thanks for bringing together so many people from so many diverse backgrounds. God bless.
Ive lifted weights for many years (1984) and got my COC grippers 20 years ago (early/mid 2000s) - i could close No 2 out of the box , i'd do 3 sets of 10 on each hand touching but i could never get No 3 - i was always 1/2'' or 1cm away - This kid has real power - most everyone at the gym couldnt get No 2
Ahhhh yes, I've seen this guy before! Absolutely wild grip strength, like, so difficult it's hard to even really comprehend how impressive what he does really is! Props to Larry for making this video with him.
Contact captains of crush dude - ask them to make a number 4.5 just for you and call it the Ivan. I bet they'd be interested and you could probably do it too. you've got alot of untapped potential
When Magnus Samuelsson got challenged by Svend Karlsen to close the CoC 4 (which he playfully did 2 or 3 times just to show off) he afterwards said that it has nothing to do with his hand size, its all about strenght. "if you can close #3 or #3.5 but not #4 your hand is clearly big enough, whats missing is strength"- He made a good point and this video shows that "normal" hands indeed can do it while many big hands fail.
211-212 lb C.O.C. 4. This man has one of the strongest grips in the world, at 19 years old. As somebody who's worked with grippers for a while now and cannot yet close a 3, this is kind of depressing. But this is too cool to see to actually feel bad!
@@YonkoOttomanWarrior It depends. Each company that makes grippers uses their own method for determining the amount of force needed to close a given gripper. Cannon Powerworks has effectively standardized ratings by using the method of applying weight (via a strap, I guess) at the end of the handle of the gripper. This is how they "rate" grippers. This particular gripper was rated by Cannon, and the rating was given in kilograms as 96. With the right setup, anyone could rate grippers this way, though, and it's not like I'm saying Cannon invented this method. I know a lot of these companies like to quote figures such as 250, 300, 350+ lbs, and other such stratospheric numbers. I like the method that I described for keeping the figures down on planet Earth.
I love the way Larry - after seeing the most impossible feat of strength that only a couple of guys on the planet can do - he just go "... ha ha ha ha ha", in his funny chuckle. Fabulous stuff!
Having never trained in a gym or anything I was quite pleased after watching this video and bought a COC 2 and managed to close it first try though I don't think I could currently do a 2.5
Took me years to close a CoC 2.5 at 80kg. Seeing this is just incredible. Ivan, you are amazing given the fact that literally only a handful of people have officially closed a CoC 4. Larry as always amazing content.
The part that is mind boggling is that he is only 19 years old. I mean was he closing the 2.5 at 16 years old? I am 41 and can only do the 1.5 one time with a good set. I've only been training or a year though but this kid is incredible.
@@donnasmith9942 I’m 16 and about 1/8 away from closing the 2.5, I’m hoping I can get it here in the next few weeks, I’ve been training for about a month and a half. There is a video on Ivan’s channel of him closing the 2.5 at 17, I don’t know if he did it at 16 or not.
@@donnasmith9942coc 1.5 can be closed in 2 3 months of training from coc 1 also without good diet or good genetic and also is a good grip strength definetly respect to you
he is also concentrating more of his grip further down the handle. a slight leverage advantage over the host as he lines up the bottom of the handle to his ring finger.
I never thought I would watch over 20 minutes of someone talking about closing a grip trainer. Thats because in all my 50+ yrs of living, I didn't even know there were different difficulty levels to this shit, lol. I learned something new today and am totally impressed by what I just saw.
What impressed me the most is bro clapping with the 3 like its nothing. Ive never seen anybody till today doing a full range motion reps with 3 like this.
I know other said it already but man, Larry is such a good man. Every single time I watch him I can't help but think of how humble he is. Considering how egocentric many bodybuilders are, he stands out from all of them.
