A lot of people didn't like Koi No Yokan and it's a shame. It was such a good album, in my opinion. It was much more of a vibe and I loved the ambiance most of the songs had to them.
Koi No Yokan is an absolute audio journey. I just can't understand how people can dislike such an incredible album. It's one of their top albums in my opinion.
@@chrisp.14 i heard entombed for the first time in flight somewhere over HK or Vietnam while i was enroute to Tokyo. It was a very clear crisp day at 40000 feet and actually i was fixated on the Hispanic angel with coppery skin blissfully sleeping near the window seat!....
The older I get, the more I appreciate these guys. I never liked them because because they weren’t “heavy” enough. Never any breakdowns that blew me away. But damnit they don’t need to??? Their vibe is unmatched and it’s clear today how many young artist they’ve influenced. Like Loathe? Really loved your opinion. Papaya!!!
This song is probably my favourite from Koi No Yokan. Great spacy vibes mixed with an awesome fuzzy, grungy side. Great choice. Re your comment about listening to the album when it came out, Deftones records routinely take me some time to get on board with, but then I do and absolutely fall in love with them. Same for KNY
What about Poltergeist!!?? I don’t know why that song gets over looked so often. It’s one of their best songs ever. Heavy, beautiful catchy choirs, has it all!!!
@@dalekay9ine Leathers, Poltergeist and Graphic Nature are actually my personal favorites. I was suggesting song choices based on what I felt he would melodically like more.
@@rossmusic25 I know I only said it cuz I think that is my least favorite song cuz I could listen to all the albums I love deftone did u know they have beers that are named after songs and I tried one the phantom bride I like it but it’s an IPA 7.0 alcohol and other check it out
I LOVE how hard you jammed out, HELL yeah. I've been listening to the Deftones since 2001. Koi No Yokan was one of my favorite albums because it related so heavily to shit I was going through at the time of it's release. Beautiful fucking album and Rosemary is... Transcendental
Rosemary and goon squad are my favorite 1-2 punch from Deftones. Listening to them back to back is 11 minutes of pure joy for me. Masterfully connected. Love this album
The bass in the intro gives goosebumps every time! Tempest from that album has a great grove to it. Check out Beware also. Has an incredible breakdown at the end. PAPAYA!
Koi is the best Deftones album, and my favorite album of all time. White Pony is fantastic, and such a revolutionary record, but every subsequent album is better than it. Koi (and now, Ohms), are the best examples of how to grow as a band without alienating your audience.
Papaya!! Also when you listen to the full album definitely make sure you listen to it from start to finish they all kind of bleed into each other and Rosemary bleeds right into goon squad and it's the perfect pair of songs!!! 🤘
Papaya. Glad to watch your discovery of Deftones. They've been my favorite band for about 20 yrs so it's exciting to see. Rosemary is one of my favorite. Needles and Pins is my all time favorite
I love this song. It’s like my spiritual self, but I’m a bit more spiritual. But it’s so relaxing, It washes all the stress and sadness out of me, All the pain is washing threw. It’s like the beach tho, The hard waves not hitting you and you just let your body..Flow.
I only got to see the deftones live one time outdoors in CA. Hope to see them again... :Tool, Deftones, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill- all occupy the top bands( among a few others) who have impacted my life the most. Thank you🙏👍
PAPAYA! Damn, Rosemary is such an amazing song, one of my favorite songs on Koi No Yokan, along with Swerve City, Tempest, Entombed etc. To be honest, Metalbirb, I was kinda the same way as you were too when you were younger, where I wasn't into Deftones at all, around the time when this album was their most recent. I used to find the band boring, and meandering, like their songs were going nowhere. But boy, how things have changed! Not sure if I know any other bands similar to Deftones, but I want to recommend another band that I've recently discovered that is absolutely amazing - check out the song "Winter" by Oceans of Slumber. Such a beautiful song, in so many ways.
PAPAYA! I can always appreciate some Deftones on the channel 🤘🏻 Keep up the good work my dude!! & Yes, I think you should do a full album reaction to Ohms!!
Papaya! I watched this reaction/review while I was working out (also my 1st time listening to Rosemary) and got completely lost in the music. Like totally blew past my set/rep prescription.
yo check out saturday night wrist it has its ups and downs but those ups go real high! especially cherry waves, beware, xerxes and riviere. not a perfect album but i must admit it its underated but this album should be probably deftones 2nd or 3rd in a top 5 album review, alng with ohms, white pony, diamond eyes and koi...PAPAYA!
Entombed 800 percent slower speed is the fucking best trip without drugs you will ever listened too. Koi no yokan is the perfect album my personal fave song is the last song called What Happened To You?
Definitely one of their best songs. Easily in my top 5 from them! 🔥 I highly recommend checking out the song The Spell of Mathematics from their new album. I think you'll really enjoy that one. Also, check out the band Glassjaw. They have certain elements of Deftones sound, but they lean more into the hardcore genre with a lot of their stuff. They're definitely their own beast and just an extremely talented band that more people need to know about.
Great response to this 👍🏽 amazing track. I immediately was entranced by it when it was first released. Now fast forward to Ohms and the release of Genesis, to me Genesis wouldn’t exist without Rosemary. That was like a premature edition of it. Genesis to me feels like this : Tempest + Rosemary + drum track from Rational Gaze by Meshuggah = Genesis 💥🔥
Papaya! (Sadly there's no Papaya emoji) Deftones are one of my favourite bands of all time, so it's nice to see you going back to some of their discography! Rosemary is just beautiful. Passenger is top tier 'epic' Deftones, as is Pins and Needles, and songs like Digital Bath are just pure comfort to me as I listened to White Pony so much growing up as a teenager. That being said, some of their newer stuff is amazing too and people never talk about it enough imo. Some suggestions to listen to would be Prayers/Triangles (my favourite off of Gore) and Cherry Waves has this amazing Team Sleep vibe (It's on Saturday Night Wrist). Honestly just such a solid band, they never disappoint me. I was supposed to see them at Download this year but it got cancelled cause of the big bad C-vid, probably the band I'm the most sad about missing.
Papaya 😤 Would love to see you check out Covet by Basement. It’s almost pop-punk leaning alternative rock with heavy shoe haze elements, they definitely sound a lot like Deftones
Before this song the only thing of Chinos vocal was on DGD's song Caviar. But this song lord, I think I played it at least once every day for like 6 months straight when I found it. Progresses like journey honestly
Dude honestly how the fuck are you just now reacting to this song!? One of their higher end tracks, ever. Every album has one or two masterpieces. At least 1. This is the masterpiece from Koi No Yokan undoubtedly.
Papaya! I agree about this album. it had to grow on me. but this song. holy shit. in my top 5 by them. and that's a hard af list to make. my second favorite from this album is definitely Entombed. 🖤
Papaya! If you like David Lynch, you should check out Pompeji off the new Ohms album! The end of it gives you a total Twin Peaks vibe. Trust me, you'll notice it immediately, and you won't be disappointed! Loved the review sir. Keep up the great work!
