"Koi No Yokan" name of the album (Japanese): The sense upon first meeting a person that the two of you are going to fall into love. This is different than “love at first sight,” since it implies that you might have a sense of imminent love, somewhere down the road, without yet feeling it.
I heard somewhere that "Entombed" was written for Chino's unborn child at the time! Yet I believe subconsciously it was written for Chi as well! Hence Chi being "Entombed" in a coma at the time!
Deftones are my most favorite band in the universe. Their sound, style, and energy are totally singular. Chino's voice can be ethereal and guttural. Watching someone experience their beauty for the first time is amazing!
Mannn you are going to LOVE getting into these guys....they haven't made a bad album yet! This is one of their later albums....but dude, they are...uniquely and singularly amazing.
@@durkadurka1926 gore and Ohms? Both were excellent. Gore is weird but. Thats what they're all about. And Ohms was so freaking clean, worked well, interesting album
that light guitar outro is one of the most beautiful things ive ever heard in my life. hope its playing as my soul is released from my stinking meat sack...
Chino's voice is what sets them apart, lots of newer metal bands think constant heaviness is critical but in reality you need moments of beauty for contrast. Older bands knew, like Zeppelin or Sabbath with acoustic guitars
when this album came out, i went to see Deftones in Australia, Rosemary started playing and alot of people around me started to get emotional, and were holding hands lol amazing feeling and the vibe was intense.
My name is Rosemary, and this song means so much to me, like it was made for me you know? I completely fell in love when I first heard it, but it was pretty weird and crazy because I’m a huge dreamer, I love escaping reality and dreaming and once I read the lyrics to this song I was shocked! it’s like the song read my mind or some shit! But it’s not just the lyrics, the music speaks to me in a way. To me the song is about lovers traveling with each other to other dimensions (I could mean different things to other people) I absolutely love that. But goddamn this song is so beautiful!!
Old Man Rolling Home Hell yeah. This whole albums a banger. Ive been listening to it since i was a young teenager and will be listening to it my entire life. -The Tempest -Goon Squad Hope he does these^^💥💥🔥🔥
Deftones is hand down my favorite band. The journey they take you is like no other, especially when you close your eyes and let the sounds paint the picture. I would suggest for your next round of 5: Beware, Battle Axe, You've Seen the Butcher, Romantic Dreams & Knife Party. Although honestly there really isn't a bad song on any album. I discovered you about a month ago and subscribed before, but just happy to see you enjoy this incredible group. You asked in the last video: they came out mainstream in 1997 and was considered Nu Metal. Where the rest of the genre pretty much died, they preserved by doing their own thing and experimenting with their sound. 22 years later, they are still making albums (one this upcoming year I think), still headline festivals and only one member change after losing their bassist Chi after a vehicle accident and a few years in a coma.
Before this song came out, Digital Bath was my all time favorite from Deftones. But this song...it’s something else. Every time I listen to it I’m just transported to another world. It’s funny you say, “it’s like they’re singing in the air.” Cause I always picture a pilot flying through a planet like bespin and cloud city.
@@kimuhstry all in my top 5, Primus, Deftones and Tool. Those bands their body of work is extraordinary and unprecedented to my mind. They're transcendent, they're in a genre of their own where there's so many different vibes, blends and styles
Wanted to again comment just to say that their harder songs are really well played. Tempest for an example, my own summer as another. But songs like entombed, cherry waves, Rosemary, and I guess you could count romantic dreams. These songs are masterpieces that when I close my eyes, take me back to when the world and night was a beautiful place. City lights that represented our growth and advancement and hope. The fall when the sun was out and the air was blowing cool. Those winter nights. Man, it’ll never be the same again but this music gives me hope.
You have no idea how incredibly satisfying it is to watch the utter appreciation on your face as you listen to this incredible band I've been having my mind blown by for the better part of 25 years.
I’m a strong believer that the Deftones create their albums to be listened to all songs together rather then separate songs. Each songs Outro is the next songs intro or at least they are made to compliment each other.
Saw Deftones for the first time in mid nineties and again on tour with Glassjaw. Since then at least a half a dozen times. One of my top fav bands and music for any mood.
My younger brother introduced me to this song. I hadn’t heard it before and my younger brother would listen to it often when our older brother passed. Now it’s one of my favorite songs from Deftones. It really takes me to a different place when I listen to it 💕 I had the awesome experience of attending Día de Los deftones in San Diego in November, I’m planning to go next year ❤️
Nothing's better than music that sends you through that otherworldly journey to the cortex of your mind and soul....Chino and Mike Patton, Maynard James Keenan and Kid Cudi are Masters of Audio Science
Deftones have a vibe like no other. Goosebump moments. One of the few bands that bring tears to my eyes. I dont know why but they touch something dark and sad in the depths of my soul and they have and are getting me through some really hard times. They fill me up and the sounds soak into my body in some bizzare comforting way.
I saw this today and it warmed my heart. I have ridden with this band for 20+ years and have always thought they could bridge the gap between hip hop and metal lovers. Your genuine reaction to this amazing music is outer worldly (is that a word) and I am grateful I stumbled upon your channel.
Team Deftones know no age, color, or group. They are in my humble opinion, the best thing since sliced 🍞. I've been a fan since 1996 because they aren't in a genre of music, they carved they're own. They touch me to the core with all the different sounds and time signiture changes. There isn't another band on the planet that makes me feel like the immortal Deftones do. I've seen them seven times live, I know every song like they was my own, and I'm now 47 and I couldn't love them more. It's been a pleasure being able to grow up listening to the most amazing modern day band. Sure they don't get they radio play of a Tool, Korn, or Metallica, all of those bands are green with envy of the Deftones. Don't get me wrong I love them too but the Deftones are a lifestyle not a rock band!
so glad to see anyother person feel that way when you hear deftones. One of the best bands ever to exist. When chino will quit, it will be a very very sad day.
This song like so many others, is about getting lost in your lover, and the lyrics reflect those emotions. Full of imagery and metaphors. Basically the Deftones have an uncanny ability to take you on a ride... Enjoy!!
"Welcome home", is what deftones feels like to me. Since their songs are so open to interpretation by the listener, they've captured certain memories and feelings of mine throughout the years which I can access by listening to their music. Definitly my favorite band.
He had another side project. The band is called Crosses. “Black Stallion “ is amazing . The album is great actually. WolfMother “White Unicorn” is really good as well. Thank you for sharing these videos. I love watching the younger “wake up” to a time when music was real and authentic.
7words is old as it gets. I use to watch these guys when Chino had dreads in places the size of my living room. Not basement but living room. They had no public demo. Whatever the hell like Linus is the public never heard it back then. I know they were together for yrs before they got discovered. But yeah first album is it and it's not obscure it's just music sucks these days
I love all their albums. Sincerely. If I could only pick one to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be Koi No Yokan. And if I had to pick a song, it would be Rosemary. I remember hearing Rosemary for the first time. Not to sound cliche but it actually took my breath away. It's like when you realize that you've fallen in love. I'm a musician and I love tons of different bands and genres but... I literally have Deftones (the entire album collection with all songs) on shuffle. When I listen to music on my phone, it's Deftones 99% of the time. So, I guess I'm a fan.😁 Thanks for the reaction video!
As I commented in the previous Video ...GREAT Blazing Music !!!! From the FIRST time I heard these guys till I saw them Live n Austen Tx. I have had a special love for their music .
Entombed is easily one of my favorite songs of all time, and Koi No Yokan is easily the Deftones' best album. It's heavy, it's beautiful, and it defines their sound perfectly.
Jamel, thank you so much for reacting to my favourite song from my favorite band. I've been requesting this on so many reaction channels and I'm glad it was you who answered the call. You are a true music lover. I think this song in particular showcases everything great about Deftones. You made my day.
Chino's voice is like molten lava. It moves so smoothly, but get too close and the subject matter will burn you up. Take a look at Knife Party, Minerva or Dai the Flu. My faves.
Long time listener, first time caller here. Ha! I saw you and deftones and clicked faster than a mofo... I'm ashamed of admitting it, but it took me a minute to get into this band. Why? I.D.K. but they are fantastic. This is one band who's lyrics I don't truly GET (and I'm all about the words) but Chino's voice and their music just send me somewhere else, man. It's otherworldly. If I can toss a band recommendation... Check out The Mars Volta. I feel like you'd love them. Cicatriz ESP, Viscera Eyes, Cygnus...Vismund Cygnus are ALL fantastic! Keep up the great videos!
As a Deftones fan since Adrenaline, Diamond Eyes is probably my favorite album. I love all the others, don't get me wrong. I am excited for their new album!!!
Brandon Glassock Been a fan too since they came out. My personal favourites are Saturday night wrist and koi no yokan. Heaviest song by them is Rats Rats Rats Rats. By far.
I'M SO HAPPY TO SEE THAT YOU HAVE DEFTONES IN YOUR LIFE NOW!!!! I've been a huge fan of them since the mid-90's and a fan of yours for a few months now. Some other Deftones songs I'd think you'd like are MX, Knife Party, Passenger, Cherry Waves, Beware, Diamond Eyes, 976-Evil, Beauty School, Risk, Tempest. Basically everything they make is awesome :D
i listened to this whole entire album on a LOT of shrooms. it was an experience i will never forget till the day i die. and this song in particular gets me super emotional every single time i hear it.
I love watching your reaction, because this is *exactly* how I feel when listening to this song; Deftones is my all time favorite. You described it perfectly, glad I found your channel!
I always liked these guys. When I became Wiccan and started studying the craft and pagan mythology, their stuff took on a whole new meaning; Minerva and her owl (Diamond Eyes) Hexagram, this song (astral travel) , Knfe Party (The Great Rite). Saw these guys with Korn 23 years ago. Didn't even know know who they were. Now they're my favorite band.
