About 3 years ago I stopped paying for cable. What I did was purchased a converter box, an outside antenna, and a power amplifier 36 db. All for $165.00. It was the best thing I ever did in saving money. I get 68 channels including local channels, that I was paying $220.00 a month for. I did the work myself, but I would get a professional antenna man, to set it up for you. These cable companies are getting out of hand with their high cost for service. Please do what I did, you won't be disappointment, and you'll save yourself a lot of money.

I live in a country where the fiber optic is directly into the router .... everything streams through it. Cable and street wiring seems so 20th century. How common is it still in the U.S ?

He says exactly how he did it. I did it but it is limited and not like having cable though. Hit with a real antenna that is up high and large you get best possible signals to reach and bring in you your tv or cable box. But to get them in strong you need the antenna amplifier he tells you about . You get the antenna on your roof and then run your coaxial cable from the antenna into the house to the amplifier input that you have plugged into a power outlet to power it and then take another cable from that amplifier ls output to go into your tv and set it up in the settings for air signal to be used. That’s it. I just gave a little detail to what he said to do. He didn’t leave anything out to it get how to do it. If you do not understand these things i only gave some understanding to it. It’s the same old technology that we all used before cable tv was ever invented. It’s not new. You used to be able to go to radio shar and get all the gear for this. But they are a phone and toy store now. Hit you can get it all online all day long. The older tvs needs a box but if your newer tv has a cable antenna input they have the capability bro receive all possible digital airwave channels your set up can capture and receive. After you get it all hooked up you go to tv settings and choose not cable but airwaves or antenna option and then it lets you let the tv scan all channels and it finds the ones it can receive and that takes a little bit of time for it to run through that process. Then you go through it and select the ones channels that come in good and strong because not all will be good enough to use. If one you want doesn’t come in perfect you can try changing the antenna direction to aim it more towards that direction to that broadcast location to get it in better. But at will then change the quality of signal for other channels that came in more clear but now do not. If this is a Orono then you want to get a powered motor to mount your antenna with that has a control box in the house that you can turn to make your antenna turn as you change its direction that way and fine tune the antenna at will for any Chanel your wanting to watch. This takes more money and more wore running to connect the controller box for the antenna motor to change direction if it from the comfort of your living room. If you didn’t understand what this man said here then you need to get a man antenna installer guy to do it all for you . That why he said that he suggested that you all get a pro to do it . It’s beyond your knowledge to do in some aspects and then in other aspects it may be beyond your mechanical abilities.

Thats Basically called "Signal Enjecting" and although possiable it may not be usable or "Channel mappable", as the chanel defalts will very from provider to provider, see if you Enject into the 180mhz carrier frequency of a provider the channels coming from another carrier if not the same channel would end up looking as if 2 channels in one (a Ghosting effect would result) unless the channel was empty on the signal being enjected to, else a already populated channel would result in a "Garbaled channel" you would have to have A way to remap and realocate channels into unused spots, or be able to block a broadcasted channel as so to take its spot with an enjected one... You would be better of with a TV TUNER CARD (or 2) that can connect to more than one source (Hauppauge used to make a Cable plus Sat dual imput TV Tuner Card that alloud both a Dish signal and a Cable company land signal to be viewed using the one TV Card, this may be a better option than Signal Enjection...

He is not lying. OTA channels are free but are also provided by cable companies. He does not say how much of cable you are getting. But it is a funny joke.

I had cable tv (basic package!) that became really expensive. It was crazy. - $215 monthly! including internet service! I looked into alternatives and choose Sling TV which I really like. You have to work more to operate it but it's worth it. Basic is $40 a month and I pay $55 a month because I got 2 add ons. You need to have internet service and you can check to see if it's available in your area - they tell you how to do it.

The cable price is highway robbery and if I could easily afford it I’d not pay that much ever. It’s a crime in my eyes and I’ll not contribute to those that are criminals against the people.
