At Knotfest Japan in April the other bands were in awe of them. They were an opening act, on at 9:30 a.m., and there were members of other bands on the bill in the crowd to see them. This song was in the set. Hal-ca was the best guitarist of the day, as far as I was concerned. I don't generally compare who's better among bands, but no one that day got the sounds, the emotions, from her/his instrument that Hal-ca did. And Miyu and Mio allowed no drop-off in quality on bass and drums.
Asterism is: Haruka (Hal-Ca) Noma, lead guitar and vocals, born 11/23/2002 Miyu Yoshinaka, bass, born 3/12/2002 Mio Yoshinaka, drums, born 11/14/1999 All started playing at a young age (Haruka at 10, Mio and Miyu at 6-8). They all attended the Yamaha Music Foundation school in Fukuoka. They originally performed separately (Mio and Miyu, Haruka) but were put together to perform in the annual Yamaha Music Revolution competition in 2014. They played several festivals and competed in various music competitions until the release of their first EP, The Session Vol. 1, in 2017. It included three covers and two original songs (155 and Magic Bullet) both written by Haruka when she was between the ages of 11 and 14 (she wrote 155 when she was 11 and they can be seen playing it in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2gBCmUWqtJU.html when they were 11, 11 and 13). Their second EP, the Session Vol. 2 was released a year later and included two more original songs (Rising Moon and Yunagi). Their first full length album, Ignition, was also released in 2018 and included seven original songs and two covers. All the original songs on these EPs and album were written by Haruka between the ages of 11 and 15. Ignition is mostly traditional hard rock and metal and includes Dawn, Blaze and Light in the Darkness. The fancam videos of Dawn, at Club Utero, and Blaze and Light in the Darkness, at Fukuoka Graf (Welcome to Inferno Vol. Max), are classics. They toured Asia and the US supporting the release of Ignition. They produced a series of live in studio performances of most of these songs (battle sessions and 360 videos) and all are available on RU-vid. They next released an EP (Guernica) and then a full-length album extension of the EP (Guernica+a) in 2020. These releases marked a change in style to a more progressive metal/rock sound and includes classics such as Church and Gunfire. All the songs on these releases are original songs. They did live in studio performances of almost all the songs on Guernica+a and these are available on RU-vid. Asterism is perhaps best before a live audience. Haruka has amazing charisma and stage presence for anyone, not to mention for a small (under 5’ tall) Japanese woman. She plays with skill, soul, and a ferocious attitude. Most recently Asterism has released an album of anime song covers (Animetic), an extended version of that album with the singer PelleK providing vocals and an EP of original songs with Haruka on vocals called Aside. There are official music videos of most of the songs on Animetic. They play frequently at clubs in Tokyo and did a small US tour with shows in LA and NYC and performances on the street in Venice Beach and Hollywood Blvd. Haruka particularly has a significant presence on social media with an active Instagram channel and her own RU-vid channel. She frequently posts playthroughs of their own songs and also a lot of covers. These kids are amazing. It's not just their technical proficiency but also their songwriting. They are more like classical music composers. I can imagine Vivaldi writing music like this if he had access to the same instruments.
Anyone who says that when musicians close their eyes they don’t feel the emotion have obviously never played an instrument or they have but only to a limited level. I’m with you…….that’s total crap! I think that someone mentioned in the comments that Hal-Ca was only 16 in this video. That’s not bad. When I was 16 I could play a handful of chords! 😊😅😅😅 She’s incredible!
As a Cincinnati transplant who has only lived here for ~33 years, it warms my heart that Bootsy Collins discovered them from their early YoutTube uploads. Their first album is gold and 2 of the tracks on that album feature Bootsy ... .AND BucketHead. Because, yeah, they were still teens then, and Bootsy knew exactly what he had found.

These 3 are from my point of view the maybe brightest shining stars in the metal sky. I'll just recommend their very first music video for 'Rising Moon' from 2018 next. Small note about them. The charming beast on the guitar named Haruka (stage name Hal-Ca) was born in 2002, just like Miyu (Ba). Mio (Dr, Miyu's brother) was born in 1999. LMAO...watching your face!!!! These are HIGH SCHOOL kids who have been together since Hal-Ca (guitar) was 11, she started playing when she was 10!! The bassist, Miyu has a custom made 7 string bass from ESP (not for anyone else but him at 17!!!!). Mio, drums is Miyu's older brother who has to keep these 2 beast in check on every song. After this set both Hal-Ca and Miyu had homework to do, let that sink in for a minute!!!!! This trio are of one mind set, fusion of progressive, Metal, Hard Rock and Jazz. They write, arrange and play their songs and were an independent band till very recently. Dawn was the masterpiece song until now. I belive 99 % of the pro guitarist would break their fingers trying to redo what Hal-Ca does with the guitar in that song. Best of the last album is Church.

So far, I've really loved all the reactions, especially nightwish (long loong time fan) and these little gems, like Asterism here (I've followed the band since the beginning). I wanna go for the "It doesn't have to be metal" though, how about that? I strongly suggest you watch "Dirty Loops - Rock You". Lets 'spice up' in other (AWESOME) styles!

They have better jawdropping song then this but it is a good portalsong to begin with. You missed their US tour recently. They even played on the street at Hollywood BLVD. They are freaking amazing.
