This song was nominated for a Grammy. Steve, when you take into account range, pitch, tonality, phrasing, emotion, etc. is the best rock or r&b singer ever and perhaps the greatest singer of all time.

I live in Florida now, but I'm from Houston and i was at this concert. Steve Perry is second to none and sounds even better live and believe me is hard to do being he moves around on stage and never sounds out of breath. He's not even singing at his highest he's simply singing without straining. Randy Jackson was the bass player in journey and he calls Steve Perry the VOICE! Others have labled Steve Perry the Man with the golden voice. And yes the same Randy Jackson you thinking of Michael Jackson brother

Im in my 30’s and I love Journey. They are absolutely amazing and Steve is definitely gifted with a voice. He also sounds amazing Live. Journey is my favorite rock band of all time. This song got a Grammy nomination. I saw Journey in concert in 1982. The best concert of my life. Steve, Neal, Jonathan, Ross and Steve Smith on drums are simply the best. No one comes close. Journey is Timeless.

I became a private party D/J in 1976 at the age of 14. Once Open Arms was released, it became the most requested bride and groom's first dance song. I also gave a speech in high school using the lyrics from Winds Of March. My grandmother and best friend passed away on a Friday in 1997, knowing that Monday was to be my first day working in a steel mill that my grandfather had retired from years earlier. Returing home from the hospital Friday, I tucked my two boys into thier beds and sat at the kitchen table. I played When You Love a Woman, because Steve Perry's voice has always soothed my soul. I am pretty sure the song's true mean is between husband and wife, but for me in that moment, it was grandmother and granddaughter. I let my tears of grief flow from his soul. So you and goosebumps, yep I get it. ❤

Nobody sings like Steve Perry. Sadly, this was the last video they ever made together. Steve was in so much pain during this video because he needed his hip replaced. He couldn't tour right away for this album because he needed surgery and he asked the rest of the band to wait for him. They started looking for a replacement without him knowing and finally came back to tell him he was out.

This is a "seasoned" Steve Perry. His voice today is pretty much in line with this tone. He can still reach the high notes, but he can't live up there anymore. Matter of fact, it is being said that his highest note ever is on the song Sun Shines Gray from his 2018 release. Once in a lifetime voice.

I watch you all the time because I can tell you know what great singing is. I have seen Steve Perry and Journey back in the early 80s because I'm from Houston. I have much respect for you for the fact how you show your emotions what you hear Steve Perry most men think their too macho to give another man a compliment. Listen to one of his tracks called"in the rain" and i l"in the rain" his voice is still amazing with a raspy sounds that his masterd!! He is second to none because of his voice that he owns! The songs i mentioned are BONE CHILLING!!! You can feel the pain in his 💔

Steve was in terrible pain while recording this video His hip was giving him lots of trouble and he ended up having a hip replacement shortly after. He had to ice his hip in between takes just to get thru it. He obviously made it thru the pain and we got this great video.
