Relics are more themed to the jobs, Ultimates are themed to their trial

The thing about the ultimate weapons, or rather the effects they are based on, is that none of them are of any element. They are all just power. You could say the ULTIMATE power. So there is no ice. There is no fire. There is only power.

Should check out ARR relic weapons, they're still amazing to this day. Working on the BLM nexus one now!

I'll give you some fun info for you to ponder about (wall of text): As of right now, Legacy jobs (the ones available at 2.0 launch and Ninja) have an array of: • 11 A Realm Reborn (all obtainable at level 50); • 12 Heavensward (all obtainable at level 60) - From here on, Machinists, Astrologians and Dark Knights also get all of them; • 12 Stormblood (all obtainable at level 70, 2 of which rewarded in Ultimate) - From here on, Red Mages and Samurais also get all of them; • 07 Shadowbringers (with another 3 yet to be released, all obtainable at level 80, 1 of which rewarded in Ultimate) - From here on, Dancers and Gunbreakers also get all of them; • 04 Endwalker (with another 7 yet to be released, all obtainable at level 90, 2 of which rewarded in Ultimate) - All currently released jobs get those; > for a total of 45 < weapons with unique glow effects - not just highlighted textures, but actual, glitchable particles (some using the same models as others, as is common to certain Ultimate weapons to mimic past Relic weapons) - for said jobs. That's around 1554 (if I'm not missing anything) weapons with unique glowy effects across the combat jobs, excluding Blue Mage. There's also glowy relics for Crafting and Gathering jobs, too. Those were not accounted. Some further info: Of the yet unreleased weapons (some might never be released, some certainly will), at least one is to be launched next patch (6.5) coming in October. The other "to-be-released" weapons are related to current and recent past extreme trials. It is normal for them to release weapons from extreme trials of past expansions, so, for example, it's very likely that we'll be seeing the missing Shadowbringers EX Trial weapons in the next few patches. Note that, by mentioning "Extreme Trial Weapons" I'm not referring myself to the already present, currently obtainable but glowless weapons. Almost every trial in the game gives you a crafting component that might be used to craft either Bardings, Housing items OR weapons that have the same model as the ones dropped in that trial, but also have a glowy effect. Take the first trial you'll ever see in the game for example: in it's Hard, 8-man version, you may get a weapon that's item level 60 and has no glow. With the special crafting item, however, you get to make a item level 95 weapon, same as the other one, but with special glows and better stats. A few trials - two ARR ones, to be exact - do not drop crafting components but rather trading currencies that you use to get their glowy weapons. And, as a last note, some jobs also get retroactively released weapons from past trials, but never relics or Ultimate weapons. For example, Stormblood and Heavensward jobs get all of the ARR EX Trial weapons, though they were not released during ARR and, as such, they get no Relics from that expansion.

I love that the ultimate weapons are glowy. There are plenty none glowy weapons out there. Tea and Top are my faves but they’re all nice. Working on my 3rd. Tea and DSR (heavens weapons) I have. Oh and even sheathed they still have a noticeable glow. Never did a ultimate blind though. Not really my thing. So start with what you want. I even did the ultimate and had only done 1 savage fight for practice (rahmuh) People always say start with uwu but I started with tea and did just fine. Then moved on to dsr and now top. May do ucob after.

Each weapon has a bit of a theme to them. uCoB = Bahamut/Dreadwyrm theme most of these weapons are just re-skins of the weapons dropped in Turn 13. Just with a more defined glow. UwU= Are the Zodiac Brave weapons from ARR, these are the first initial steps of the relic quest chained. Although I rather take the Excalibur and Aegis shield (the finished version of the Curtana and Holy Shield) TEA = Are the Heavensward Anima Relics being the second step once you complete gathering the materials or exchanging your ARR relic for the materials in question (dont worry you do a small side quest and regain a replica of your completed ARR relic). DSR = All weapons are just repaints of the a fight you will have to complete in Heavensward. ToP= All weapons are from the end of the Omega raid in O12S. So out of the 5 fights, only two of them are based off relic weapons, two are based off the base model of the final fight and one is based off the weapons dropped in a EX fight/ also craftable if you have the mats for the alternate glowy weapon. Also Every EX Primal can have their weapons made into a alternative version that has a glow on them.

Unpopular opinion actually, but I would like to see you do an Ultimate blind. I personally think that with you doing all the content min ilvl you have good perspective of the mechanics going into Ultimates. Most of the mechs are the original mechanics combined in some way so if you're familiar you have the upper hand. Even if it's not fully blind, I think first time blind run and looking up the mechs as you get to them might be nice. Hopefully you can poll your server or something and see what the people want!

Honestly, it's hard to find a decent looking Monk weapon. Half the time I either use bare fists, or just the Rinascita Knuckles (Arm bracer with a curved blade on the side).

Unlike going back to old Savages, Ultimates will eat you even with a guide since you can't rely on Echo or gear. It'll be death until the muscle memory sets in.

The light effects might be a little too much, but they have themes. Dreadwyrm (bright yellow) is Golden Bahamut, his wings and the golden aether surrounding him Ultima (blue) is the Ultima Weapon and the circle and glyphs on the arena Alexander (golden and light purple) is Alexander and his gears and cogs that bend time Heavens (bright gold) is King Thirds and the symbols of the Holy See in his magic seals Omega (silver and purple) is Omega, his silver chassis and the purple of his programming glitching.

Each Ultimate weapon is an uprez and reskin of an already existing weapon. Some ultimate fights are based off fights which drop weapons. Their ultimate weapons are based off those weapons. Some ultimate fights are based off fights which do not drop weapons. Their ultimate weapons are based on that expansion's relic weapons. I'd give examples but I don't want to spoil the context in which you fight these bosses.

Each job in a nutshell: Paladin: You are a free knight and selfless defender. Vicious with a sword. Uses white mage. Warrior: A simple fighter. The meat shield and selfish defender. Has no magic. Dark Knight: You are a warrior of justice. Some may call you mad. Uses black magic. Gunbreaker: You are a bodyguard. You help others fight. Steals magic. Dragoon: You are a dragon knight. Samurai: You are a warrior of honor. Ninja: You are an agent of honor. Monk: You are a warrior of brotherhood. Reaper: You are a monster hunter who made a pact with a demon. Bard: You are a bard. Machinst: You are an inventor. Dancer: You are a dancer. Black Mage: You are a wizard who specializes in all things black magic. Summoner: You are a mage who specializes in summoning magic. Red Mage: You are a mage who specializes in white magic, black magic, and all things combat. A jack of all trades. White Mage: You are a mage who specializes in white magic. You are a tree hugger. Astrologian: You are a star mage. A fortune teller. Sage: You are a doctor! A battle healer. You shoot a lot of lasers. Scholar: You are a battle tactician. An actual practitioner of practical medicine with a magic fairy. You poison and broil enemies.

Beating a current ultimate you can plan in roughly 800-1200 pulls depending on your group. For older ultimates like UWU a bit less. Do yourself a favour and start with ucob since UWU has aged very poorly and is even easier than some current savage fights.

There are actually plenty of weapons that do have those other themeings that you were talking about, they just don't happen to be so grandiose and overblown in their particle effects as the Ultimate duty weapons- most particle effect weapons are obtained either through relic weapon series or as weapons that are crafted based on already existing weapons that can be earned from Extreme trials. The Ultimate duty weapons in particular are also based on pre-existing weapons in the game (for the most part) that had these special effects added on top of the base designs. There are a couple exceptions- like some of the Heavens weapons -because they're based on fights from a much earlier expansion so new base weapons had to be created for newer jobs -but that's rule for the most part. So yeah, there are plenty of themed ones like you were asking for, they're just not the over-the-top weapons that these are. You'll wanna be looking up either relic weapon designs or crafted weapons if you're curious on those.

Ucob and uwu are very doable for you or anyone with baseline skills for raiding the other 3 are gonna be a lot harder. For other streamers for help Llamatodd and xeno are often doing that

8:25 for the monk weapons. So far the only weapon I've had as a monk that isnt' glamoured for the "no weapon, just fists" emperors thing is a step in the Eureka weapon from stormblood. The glow is so neat how it has a long lasting tail on it. Especially if you do the /bm /sit macro to have them glow always, as they're basically just gloves on your hand that glow. Just wondering, are you planning to do the second coil savages? I would love to see a video on that. Second coil savage mode is kind of interesting as they technically never did anything like it again. In the raids after coils, they made normal mode super easy and made savage mode at a difficulty in between normal coils and savage coils (after the first 2 alex tiers as those were arguably harder than savage coils.

The glows and designs for the weapon reflect the boss theme and design. So your example of having something druidic themed, would need to have an ultimate that would reflect that theme. It could be something that happens in the future.

UCOB: Bahamut-themed UWU: The one you called "frosty" A favorite because it's basically just "energy" themed. TOP: Future-tech themed. This is a lot easier to appreciate when you look at the model up close. TEA: Clockwork-themed. The cogwheels have a nice obvious silhouette but you've gotta be into that steampunk vibe. DSR: Mix of dragon and cathedral theming. A lot of the intricacy gets lost at a distance and reads as "epic orange glow" but like the TOP set it's crazy pretty up close.

My ultimate goal in this game is to do The Epic of Alexander and The Omega Protocol someday, because I watch runs of them regularly and I’m blown away how they look to both do, and the sheer bombast of the phases in those 20 minute long fights. I doubt I’ll see it anytime soon, but I know I want to do them.

You should check out the relic weapons. They are pretty cool too. Also at this point you should know who the boss of uwu is. You’ve fought them in MSQ. Edit: on Monk weapons, yeah some of them are underwealming, but they also get some other blunt weapons that can be used in the Monk moveset as well, such as tonfas, brass knuckles, ect
