World of Warships: Legends - HMS Belfast Review - Tier 6 Royal Navy / British Cruiser Index: History: (0:34) Analysis: (6:44) Commanders: (8:45) Stats: (11:06) Gameplay: (14:05)
Historical titbit. Back in the day of wooden ships, designers came up with a ship then convinced someone to pay for it, usually via the Stock Market. The cost of building a warship is what formed our financial system today. Then they sold it to the Admiralty for a profit so the Navy ended up with a mixed bag of ships from whoever offered the biggest bribe. They changed that, but kept the idea of lots of different ships all the way until WW2. The philosophy was that ships had to do many different roles, so the more options they had, more likely they'd have the appropriate tool available.
David in Hawaii the one with the girl from the future with the skin tight gold camo adaptive armor suit thing? Because the new government in Jericho the “Allied States of America” was basically a corporate government as well.
The whole „Smokes are torpedo magnets“ situation can kinda be avoided. These cruisers do have Hydro that lasts about as long as your smoke. So when you pop smoke wait until you hear „smoke screen set!“ and just pop your Hydro. Helps to avoid taking torps ✌🏼
PC player and Belfast Captain here. On PC, a significant part of the Belfast's 'power' is its low detectability in combination with radar. Yes, the radar range isn't all that great, but with a commander specced for concealment and the concealment module equipped, your ship dectability is 8.9km, only barely higher than your maximum radar range. This makes you a devastating destroyer hunter, even more so because you also have the tools to disengage if necessary. Belfast as it is available in Legends seems like a down-tuned version of the old ship, at least in this regard. That said, i'm not sure whether the argument that it's OP on pc still holds, given WG has kept on adding HE spammers to the game ever since, most (in)famously the Smolensk. Removing ships from direct sale also artificially increases their scarcity and pushes some players to spend big on lootboxes in the hope of getting these rare ships.
Well love to see CC run into islands makes me feel so much better. I'm an island slayer for sure. Great video can't wait to get the Belfast.Been having a lot of fun in these British cruisers. You guys videos have been very helpful. Thank you
By far my favorite vid so far Sir! “Getting kicked in the groin and taking aspirin afterwards” WTF hilarious 😂 All jokes aside, you really outta be doing historical commentary on some show, seriously it’s that good. Really like the commander breakdown and comparison on this one, I often waffle on picking my commander and this truly helps, so thanks for adding that to the review and hope u continue to include that. Can’t wait for the Hood breakdown, gonna have to spend the money on that one!
Great video as always. Missed this ship since I started playing 2 weeks in to this campaign, and had no clue what the campaigns were at the time. I really enjoy the RN cruisers, and so far they are the closest to national pride I can get in Legends 🇨🇦. I do hope Belfast returns at some point.
I am enjoying my Belfast immensely. She has a great tool kit that is just diverse enough to give me the right tool at the proper time. Having that smoke is great, especially when I have a DD that is out spotting for me and I can sit back, relax, and have 2 or 3 lovely barbecues going on at once. Honestly, she reminds me of Atlanta with her excellent hydro/radar combo and HE that will chunk massive slabs of health off any DD I come across. And, much like the Atlanta, when an enemy cruiser angles too sharply for the AP to be effective, that HE really helps to get them running as fast as they can.
I love this ship just as i love my Atlanta and Boise. Got Tennant to R11L2 with Sims and Einstein to alleviate the turret traverse plus the warning indicator from the ingenious perk helps a lot. I use Fraser from tiers 1 to 4 and Tennant takes the rest. One more thing is that in case of going up against a Battleship if not detected then wait until he shoots first then open fire plus I'm going for maneuverability with Tennant but with the upgrades the ship haves then i can switch between him and Fraser if i want to so its a very versatile ship and yes i got Fraser with the same perks as you.
I appreciate the sentiment. I don't do much to please the algorithm, but I'm not looking to make this a career either. I'm just happy when people enjoy my work.
Cheers for the review tacticangel good game. From what I understand Belfast was regarded as op on pc because of ifhe captain skill which legends doesn't get so we should be fine with this one and not have it removed from game like pc players did..
Yeah Belfast is one of the best support ship , she is great going to have her at the end of the campaign. I agree about RN AP it’s really great especially against dds you will do more damage with AP against dds .
Thanks for anorther great video, very funny comments by the way ;D I would like to know whats your joystick setup at PS4, how can u see the bullets?! Thanks
On PC they can use IFHE which makes a big difference, a Belfast using IFHE plus smoke plus radar/sonar makes her a bit OP on the PC....... from what I hear anyway.
Nice review. I must confess I loved the Belfast on PC, but then again I am probably very bias as I used to walk past the ship everyday on my way to work. She has a savage beauty in the flesh. Whilst I understand the lack of torps for balance in my opinion it’s tantamount to sacrilege not to have them on the ship that torpedoed the Scharnhorst! I would be interested to see what impact the Azur lane commander has.
Its definitely interesting when doing the research and pressing the button for my torpedoes, just expecting them to be there. In one of my less intelligent moments, I was absolutely sure the game was bugged.
I hope one day she returns easier to get. A straight up purchase would be amazing, but doubt that's gonna happen. Might have to gamble crates away if she even comes back in one
Best of luck! There seems to be a class of ships that are just "too popular," and then we don't get to see them for long stretches at a time. I think, particularly after München and Weimar, there's not a lot of reason to hold this one back, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Well... I prefer Edinburgh because of its 30mm bow, but since one is a tier VII tech tree ship and the other is a tier VI premium, I'm not sure it's a totally fair comparison. 🙂
For a good while, my Vian was under-leveled. I haven't tried to work him back into my inspiration rotation just yet, partially just due to habit. I'm thinking I'd rather have stealth still, but I should try it. A few extra misses never hurt anyone.
@@tacticangel stealth is great, except when you have an itchy trigger finger and keep firing. Then even with Lemonnier's quick return to concealment, you never stop firing long enough. And so having Vian's dispersion inspiration is more active than passive, and would be in use more often.
like the review and i do know that u dont like fiction commander which is very unique toward your review, but i do think you need to including it too since it till have effect toward how you play the game
So since there is a A.P. pen buff you can get for every ship class through the commander base trait inspirations- maybe you could suggest a H.E. pen buff inspiration to WG to function somewhat like IFHE. Or do you think they are purposely avoiding doing so?
My sense is that the staff aren't too interested in a mechanic that works like IFHE and I agree that a mechanic like that is pretty game-breaking. I have an idea that I'll float by them for a weaker version, (e.g. an incrementally increasing percentage chance that you doing partial penetration damage in spite of normally not doing damage).
@@tacticangel I see. Personally I would prefer more pen and less fire chance. My feeling is that more pen would allow cruisers to deal more consistent damage and less fire chance would make them less irritating to fight against. But I would be in favor of less fire chance from BBs as well.
I was hoping to see if you used Azur Lane Belfast Commander. Personally, since unlocking her I find her a good mix of Fraser and Tennant. Ingenius is really handy in any RN Cruiser, and then getting Punch Through too is great!
Have you tried submitting some feedback to WG on discord? I will share that idea with them, perhaps making a Preset 7 and 8, but my influence is pretty limited.
