I was trying to figure out why the back wheels and the front wheels were turning in opposite direction on my C44. Thanks to your video, I now know my rear axle is upside down. What a relief!!
@@RunThatRC yessir! anyway, does it have any issues with the dual speed gearbox? it came with plastic gears, should we change it to metal? or is it ok just stay with stock plastic gears?
hey David, you seen my latest "budget hack"? use a paper punch on sticky back foam sheet, give each disc a center hole, slide it down the shock shaft. tiny amount of CA to lock it to the underside of the head, press tight flat with back edge of hobby blade. wet it with a little oil and put it in, gives just enough friction damping to stop them bouncing around.
A little tip for waterproofing the servo from back in the day is to put extra grease on the gears and put an o-ring on before the servo arm to create a seal.
That's how I use to do it. now I just open it up and marine grease the gears and conformal or plastidip the board inside and that has been a lot more reliable like that for me. Had a truck underwater in a river for about 15mins before I went in after it and still works!
Thanks a lot for this very clear video! I have some experience in building rc helicopters and airplanes but I choose your video to be the best. Especially the extra comments on the tricky parts like the axel trusses I appreciated ( Amazing those plastic trusses don't split when you screw the ball joints in). It is becoming a great looking car, the WPL C44KM, can't wait to get it out tomorrow! Great video, helped a ton!
Thanks for posting this video. I have made up my mind and i'll be buying the WPL C44KM. I have already bought the MN45 but i know i'll have to do some mods to that to get it to the standard i want. The only real mods i'll do to the WPL is possibly using MN electronics so i can add lighting and rear tail lights {even if that means building the rear light case.
nice truck the C44KM. You will like it. Check out the WPL V3 esc receiver combo with transmitter it performs well and is very smooth. It has a light and sound kit built in as well.
Nice! Mine is coming in the near future hopefully. I think they got overwhelmed with orders 🤣 Video will be a great guide for me as this will be my first build.
Rtr David my mn99 esc and 260 motor arrive I was super happy that my mn model runs again but the problem adds more the plastic ring gear is slipping I might get some metal on differential the problem on bannggood is not cash on delivery
@@brandondannys-menary3678 i use these mini 20-30amp esc from amazon, but you can get them on banggood also any receiver will work i like flysky radio and receiver and you would need a small battery with a jst connector
I just finished mine, what a great kit and a surprisingly good crawler. Only issue I have are the tires popping out even after gluing them. Have you come across a beadlock wheel that would work with the C44 tires?
I'm actually not using any beadlocks on my WPLs. Before I glue my tires to the wheels I clean the contact areas with alchohol and then glue them and let them set for a little and you should be good to go.
Hi, nice vid buddy! can i please ask, did u install the standard plastic trusses or did u upgrade to the metal ones? are the metal trusses recommended or really necessary as per WPL website suggestions? I can't imagine this scale rig to be under so much load for this part to fail?? Cheers from down under.
it all depends if tumbling from 6ft is something that is part of the terrain you tackle then yes. That was the only way I managed to break a plastic truss. I was able to super glue it back together and still ran it the rest of the day.
Hello, nice work. Can I ask if in the wheels ,with the weights that are in the box with the kit, we put extra foam? I just got the c44km kit and start to assemble. You are our coach to modelism. Thank you.
some people do run foams. I haven't tried foams yet but if your going to load up your truck you might want to look into it so you don't suffer from tire curl or roll.
your correct. Just servo horn against the slot. To control the 2 speed you will need a 3 channel transmitter and receiver. The wpl Res v3 sound esc and receiver light kit combo would do the job nicely.
Hello, Thank you for sharing this video, I bought this truck (WPLC44KM) but my axle trust are plastic, (10:58) yours are metal. where did you get them? what is the part number? thank you again
Looks like a pretty solid kit? I mean, it's pretty unbeatable for the price? I might have to order a kit and try it out. The detail on that body is amazing
RunThatRC would you order the ond with the winsch? Seem like the one with the best value? Metal parts, wooden flatbed and winsch for under 100 bucks is pretty crazy
@@RCManiacs yes and I would get the V3 controller esc combo to control all those features. Unless you already have a programmable tx and electronics you want to use.
Hi I had to mod my front axle this was my first build so not sure if I was doing it right but the gears were really tight so I 3D printed a washer to space it out and is tight still but should wear in and get better 👍
I didnt have to mod them but I had to remove some paint from the axle cover tabs and just made sure everything was free from binding. I seem to have good luck with my axle that dont bind.
The WPL C44KM is hobby grade right, and if not, what upgrades would you propose be best (if any, looks good enough stock). But i do not have on YET (hint on the yet) so i cannot know for sure. Best upgrades or best things to do to it to make it better (if it is possible to make it better).
2 to 3 cell lipo batteries work well. I have fit a wltoys a979b 2s 1500mah lipo under the hood of this C44KM. Haven't tried 3s on this truck yet but have tried it on the B36KM and like it as well. In the past prior to the wpl v3 board i ran mainly 2s lithium ion 500 to 1300mah packs. safer if you don't have a lipo alarm or LVC.
How does the motor mount in this awesome little rig? My kit is on its way and I’m thinking about going brushless so just want to make sure I get a brushless motor/esc combo that will bolt in without problems. Thanks.
you can install a 370 size brushless motor. The brushless 4300kv motor I have just screws into the stock motor location on the gearbox. you will just need a pinion gear on the motor to mesh with the gears. my mini sct pinion gears worked for me using a 9 or 10t pinion I believe. Excelorin 4300kv motor from losi mini sct and a castle mini mamba 25a esc is what im using with a flysky tx/rx. It is in my MN Model D90 kit if you have seen that running video. its sensorless so it cogs just a little bit but it works pretty good overall.
Hello RC professor..!! I have a thought and want your opinion. I want to put the suspension of Traxxas summit 1:16. Is the wpl c34 in scale 1:16blike traxxass scale or it is similar to 1:12 like MND90,so I have to search for 1:12 scale oil shocks
not sure if that would work as i dont know how big or small the 16th scale summits shocks are. I personally just run the stock friction shock setup on my wpls and mn models.
Transmitter, receiver, esc, battery, light kit, sound kit, winch controller which the V3 tx/rx esc combo features or all those separately with your choice electronics. Minimum transmitter, receiver and esc and some wires of your choice to connect battery plug, and motor to esc.
its called plastidip and it is just a rubberized coating for tools and so on. you can use a similar product or you can use conformal coating, rtv sealant and many other waterproofing tricks RCers use. none of these are 100% full proof but I have had great luck with plastidip.
If your referring to the WPL Res V3 board it really doesn't fit under the battery tray unless you trim. Here's a video that show where I put it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wUNI84OJYsk.html
I recommend a 2s 1500mah lion or lipo I'd you want more punch. Check out the wpl V3 sound kit. It comes with a radio and it's a solid esc receiver combo with lights capabilities and sound.
David rc is the diff and ring gear brass gear on wpl will fit on mn90? I need to upgrade it becouse the plastic diff on mn90 is strip is becouse of 260 motor its overpower
Hey, had a question if you can help - on my WL12428 when I push the trigger forward it'll brake the car, then let off the trigger and push it forward again and it'll go into reverse. What kind of ESC is that or is that a receiver setting? My WPLc24 doesnt do this even though my ESC says it has braking or there;s a switch for one on it. Thanks !
That's a esc setting. Some esc have forward, brake and reverse. Some have forward, brake only like race escs and some have forward reverse. There are more settings like drag brake and much more for higher specd electronics.
yeah unfortunately I had to leave that out. I received this kit as a prerelease and WPL wasn't sure yet on the gearbox choice and what will come in the box. You can check this video out. They install to all the wpl chassis in a similar way. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HG5EwzL4EGY.html
to complete the c44km you will need your own transmitter, receiver, electronic speed controller (esc) and a battery. also a battery charger. You will need to solder wires as well so a decent soldering iron as well.
not sure if you can get this RTR at the moment. Look around for best price for the C44KM kit and V3 petrol sound kit esc receiver board if your willing to give RC kit building a try. You can watch a couple videos to help you through the build. It will help you learn things you want to learn anyways in this hobby. It's a steep learning curve with these kits specifically but is duable with patience and persistence. The things you learn doing that makes this hobby easier and it in turn will make your future Rc kit building experience with other kits less intimidating. I understand you might not have all the tools to build a kit at the moment. Fortunately it doesn't cost too much for a small set of allen keys and screwdrivers. Even a decent soldering iron could be had at a low cost. Learning how to use these tools and completing a build is really satisfying in my opinion and every Rc enthusiasts should give it a go!
