It’s still special to me. I pick it up again every 6 months or so lol. And now it’s coming to the switch so I’m excited to see a new generation get to enjoy this gem
Finished this game for the first time on the weekend (10+ hours). The amount of times I complained about the camera causing me to walk of things! Congratulations, you make the games controls look perfect.
I agree. The camera can do some wonky shit sometimes where it can kind of flip out on occasion, I’ve had it where it’s immediately swapped angles mid talon trot for no reason and it can be somewhat disorienting.
@Robert Giese thats such a gatekeeper mentality, I 100% the game 2 nights ago on N64, as much as I enjoyed the game there were plenty moments of the camera either getting stuck on walls, or just turning too sharply and ruining the direction I'm walking in. Your way of thinking is not healthy lol
The camera is only bad if you never bother to move it yourself (which is extremely easy to do seeing as, unlike the ones in games like Mario 64 or Goemon, it stays where you put it instead of immediately trying to swing back to some kind of default position.) There are moments in this game where it pulls out to a panoramic fixed view, but it's never done inappropriately. In any case, I'll take a reliably obedient manual camera over a bad automatic one any day.
It's a glitch involving a previous save. You can transfer all learned moves to a new game if you get a game over during a certain minigame. It's not cheating since they allow the same method to skip cutscenes.
when i cant find anything on netflix to watch i think of nostalgic games i never finished and watch speedruns of those games. this was a blast to watch
it's pretty crazy to think even with all those early mis-steps you managed to shave off about 3 minutes from the previous record, have to wonder how much more time saves are possible in this game though lol
Not in reality because Stiv's record was 1:57:39 it just got taken down due to cancel culture. And that run didn't even use MMM early because there wasn't a consistent setup for it back then.
@@TySoN78 i fully agree he should be the recorded holder still i think its dumb that they would pretend its someone else when hes clearly the best to ever run banjo by far. but.... someone said it was because of "cancel culture" i think its his actions we should focus on not the people who are deciding to punish him. He clearly has some issues and to gloss over that and blame it on cancel culture is a bit ridiculous.
When you go out of bounds like that and die, it resets you back at the start of the room where you entered from. It's faster to do that than to just run back to the loading zone. The whole reason you want to return to the start of the room is because it's the start of the MMM early bitclip setup.
Is this because you saw a recent comment asking about it? If so, that's me but I deleted it lol, I thought that if you talked to bottles at the beginning and pressed B you wouldn't need to go through the tutorial and you'd have the moves already because of that. But now that I see your comment I'm glad you clarified it for us. Thank you.
@@CloudStrife777FF lol it's not because of any one specific person. It's a very common question. Usually I just reply to the commenter with the explanation, but when this game came out on switch I had too many of those comments to keep up with haha
@@AzmiSR Well I said that because I don't see many comments that aren't months old and I remember I asked about a week ago, around the time you pinned this, so I was wondering if that was the reason. Anyway I came back to finish watching the run and I stumbled upon your comment, it's good to know how this worked.
As I watch the run, I'm get more and more frustrated with the fact that all of the moves are already available. There's so much (too much) time that gets shaved off for my liking. I enjoy casually replying retro games ("speed running", but I'm no professional), but there so many advantages right away: -Talon Trot immediately the start of Mumbo -the Shock Spring jump immediately to get to the Clanker portrait -Beak Bomb used so early in TTC -the turbo trot shoes ready outside of Freezeezy Peak I read the article you pinned, and I acknowledge that this memory trick between files is permitted, but it still upsets me a bit. Please don't get me wrong: despite the "glitch", I love watching how cleanly you dive into water, skip cutscenes and jump from ledge to ledge (Clanker's Cavern, for example). It's very elegant and smooth. Since this seems to be the still be the current (10/2022) WR holding video, might you consider trying a run without the preloaded moveset?
My man, I watched half of the speedrun last week and it had been the WR for the last 3 years. Now I come back to see the rest and it was beaten. Somehow this has to be my fault 😂
love this game, so fun to watch speedran. also i didnt know the invincibility thing killed ghosts in mmm, wouldve made it a lot less annoying if i did that when i played the game lol
I've played through this game many times, but this is the first speedrun I've seen. Really cool, all the clipping through terrain surprised me but what surprised me most was how you managed to escape in bee form without being forced back. GG on the WR!
This is the first BK speedrun I’ve ever watched. But I’m impressed! I’ve been playing this game since it first came out, and I still struggle just remembering where everything is haha. TTC will always be my favorite level though.
I'm down to beating the game 100% under 4h now. Of course nowhere near your abilities. Interesting to see you skipping a lot of things that I don't know how to skip. Like how you have some moves early. I was trying to see how I can route my runs better with your video but hence the move thing it isn't of help unfortunately 😅 Still very nice video and very impressive
Really Great run actually! Keep that WR alive! I keep hearing about some Furnace trick that gives you those moves from the start which is pretty nuts lol (I'm reading the pastebin to see if it matches what I'm thinking) (Currently my record for beating it 100% is 7.5hrs, game is just all around fun to play) MY experiences when doing my runs: MM is free AF and termite can go fuck itself as it is not needed to get everything unless it is a casual play-through TTC is fun, still practicing that nipper trick CC is fun: can get through the blades with ease after much practice BS is fun until you run into mr.krabs as a crocodile FP is a blast to run GV can be annoyin still practicing to speed it MMM with the pumpkin sucksss RBB is still unholy hell on the essence of my sub-consciousness CCW is happy hell with lots of internal screaming Furnace fun is monopoly with the death penalty; Normally would skip the timers because i cant stand that fucking turtle composer (I go ballsy with skulls and gruntys) Grunty fight is STOOPID hard when it gets to phase 4/5 10/10 please do a remake. My one question is...how is that treasure trove cove cave risen up during gameplay when you can only access that in the rare-remaster?
You can activate all the stop and swap items/locations via cheat codes in the sandcastle. They don't actually do anything, but once you activate it then it's impossible to undo as it's a permanent flag on the cartridge
@@AzmiSR Permanent flag on the cartridge meaning that it just stays there or bricks it? I heard some cheats make the game freeze up so I'm cautious lol
@@marmax321 it just means that once you activate the cheat you can't undo it, so you can't put the island back in the water. The game shouldn't freeze because of sandcastle cheats. If it does, then it's just an N64 issue rather than a cartridge issue. What you may be thinking of is grunty erasing your file. If you enter 3 sandcastle cheats that affects the lair section of the game, then grunty will erase your file (don't worry about accidentally doing this becuase bottles will give you a warning sign) However, you can enter as many stop and swap cheats as you want and nothing bad will happen
I've been substituting computers class at an elementary school for the past month so I have been treating the kids at the end of class with this speedrun. 2nd-5th graders have seen you do FP early and MMM early with pure amazement! I tie it into coding, design engineer process, game design, and so many more of their vocab words. I make sure to tell them about your hard work and dedication to being the best of the best. Keep being awesome Azmi.
My timer program keeps track of all my splits from all the runs I've done in the past. So it keeps track of all the times I've done spiral mountain, mumbos mountain, treasure trove cove, etc. My best possible time at the beginning of the run represents all the best segments added up. So it would be as if I tied all of my best levels for the whole run. The sum of all the best is just called sum of best. The "best possible" just shows what I would get if I were to tie each of my golds for the rest of the run as opposed to the entire run.
Hey, just wanted to say that watching this run has made my day. BK is one of my favorite games and I have such fond memories of it from my childhood. I recently got into watching speedrunning and when I found your channel and twitch I got incredibly happy! I had a very hard day today and this video is probably the only reason I didn't break down. GG on the run and I'm looking forward watching more BK from you :)!
In your (okay, OUR) defense, we did not have access to the speedrun modded version that turns off sequence forces (I.E. having the kazooie trot before learning it in MM, or using jump pads before learning them in TTC, etc) and certain collisions (like the special feather run and the monsters/birds in the holes)
@@MusicmanEJB This is not a "modded" version. This is the official game on an actual N64, and everything he did in this run, you can also do on your game, with practice of course.
@@MusicmanEJB that's not because of mods is actually legit in the regular version of the game you just need to do a glitch that has the same effects as a new game plus
To answer your questions among your various comments, there is a glitch called FFM where if you game over during a minigame on the Furnace Fun board and start a new save file, you can start a new file with every move you learned on that previous save file. There is a detailed explanation on RU-vid if you are curious to know more about it and how it works. He purposely leaves moves like eggs and feathers unlearned on the old file, so when he learns them in this speedrun, Bottles refills his ammo. If you speak to Bottles in a new save file where you have already learned the eggs and flying, he will not refill your eggs and feathers so you're stuck at 0 unless you collect them among the world yourself, which is significantly slower than getting 50 free eggs in a second.
Have you ever considered doing a Max% Speedrun for this game? A Speedrun where you have to collect absolutely everything? Collect all Jigsaw Pieces, Notes, Extra Honeycomb Pieces, Mumbo Tokens, Extra Lives, Gold Feathers, Red Feathers, Blue Eggs, Honeycomb Pieces, etc? Now that would be one heck of a Speedrun!
I’ve 100% this game twice casually, never thought these levels could be beaten so quickly. This is another level, and you still hold the record two years later, and in all main categories as well… Kudos to you
There is a glitch using a completed save file to have all moves unlocked in a new game upon reaching mumbos mountain, he still talks to bottles for stuff like the eggs because getting 50 free eggs by skipping through his dialogue in like 3 seconds is faster than having to collect eggs of course
How is it possible that you have the Green jump pads before TTC? (This is the first speedrun of BK I watch, idk if that is a special category?) Great Job though, impressive Speedrun! 🙏🏼
This is so cool to watch! You're excellent at this game. I actually just beat it yesterday (08/27/22) for the first time. I also beat this on my Switch! Lol. I just got used to the controls because I wanted to play this game so bad. I'm a freaking HUGE N64 fan. Thank you for keeping this game alive and well, brother! You're great!
Whoops, mistook this for a no FFM run at first and commented about that "fact." I'm an idiot :P Not that I have a problem with NG+ runs, I'm just more a fan of ones that aren't. Still love Banjo-Kazooie speedruns though.
😢 this is completely trolling my performance in the game isn't it😂😂😂😂😂😂b why would you put yourself through this over and over again for that oh my God❤
How do you have Kazooie's run before you talk to bottles in mubo's mountain? Edit: I just noticed you have all the skills available from the beginning of the game.
1:35:28 lol you simply break the game here and pick 5 Jigs in a row and continues using a transformation in a world it was not intended to be used Crazy stuff
I voided out. I did lose all my health and I lost a life in the process but the voidout from going out of bounds took me to the start of the level before the death could so the notes stay collected
me 100%ing the game for the 7th time with a time of 7:06:45 - wow im getting pretty good at this i wonder what the wr run looks like me in the first 5 minutes watching this guy not transform into the termite at all - :0
Im surprised you had so many mistakes so early in the game and didnt restart, in any case WR is yours, what im saying is you can improve this time, you really can
kinda feels like cheating that you have all the moves learned as soon as you enter a level. i was gonna try to replicate this but that part makes it impossible
I didn't say anything during this stream but man I was so happy I lurked!! Maybe if i was fully paying attention I would have noticed how amazing this was!! I'm so proud of you Azmi!!
Just beat the game last night for the first time. I was a Playstaion guy back then, so didn't grow up with it. I got 99 jiggies and 900 notes. I used a guide for maybe a few jiggies and notes, but I tried to do the vast majority on my own. I also, beat Tooie last years and I'll say, this is a 7.5 . Banjo Tooie is easily a 9 for me. I think more people have nostalgia, but Tooie is better imo.
11h PM, kinda tired.. I thought hey has anyone beaten stivs BK run? I googled it, it seems so, but I didn’t feel like watching a 2h run. But I don’t regret it, you’re so fast like wtf 😅
