The WR thing should be you pay one then draft the 2nd, theres a chance the 1st one drops off then trade one option after year 3 of the rookie deal, could be the star who might be declining. Also if you nail a 1st rd WR at the end of the rookie deal get him another dude as a vet possibly on 2 year guarantees and walk when it’s time to pay the rookie.

Love all of this. I do have a lot more faith in Calvin Ridley than Mina does, lol. That was his first year back after lots of time off. Also, the Jags were way overrated going into last year.

Time will tell who’s comment ages better. For the player he was balling for pennies, but I would prefer as a fan if he gets a bit less than that to keep the team cap in a healthy spot.

As a lions fan, he’s worth it. Locker room leader, works his ass off and sets the example, doesn’t miss games, great blocker, produces, I could go on. And made zero money on his rookie contract. Plus not resigning reynolds means we’re paying no other skill players

The more replaceable WRs become through the draft the more likely their contracts will become similar to modern day RBs. It won’t be the exact same as the shelf life seems to be a few years longer for an elite WR but paying 30+ Million will become unnecessary.

This years draft is really carrying this perception. Just last year Quentin Johnson was WR2 of the board. There’s a big opportunity cost in cycling your WRs. If you are having to use your high picks on WR those are picks that aren’t going to the lines and the secondary.

@@CoconutMigrating the perception comes from the shift in 1k plus receivers vs RBs. It literally shifted from what used to be 15+ 1k runners vs a hand full of WRs over 1k. 2023 had 27, 2022 had 21, 2021 had 23 1k WRs.

I agree with the 7 on 7 growing up they are coming in much more polished from College the middle class WRs need to worry about that those 20m for Ridley, Kirk are going to disappear.
