You got it correct, that shortcut is a faster way to beat the level, but unfortunately it seems impossible to not collect the bonus bug after taking it, so you'd be forced to play the bonus game afterwards, which makes it slower in a full game context.

Affermativo

To simply beat casually, probably level 8? (Be Prepared). In a speedrun setting, I'd say the hardest level to perform optimally is Simba's Return (lvl9) due to the precision involved from all the glitch kills and a tricky ledge grab in one of the early rooms as well. Simba's Exile (lvl4) is probably the most brutal run killer though because there's a pretty hard frame perfect ledge clip at the end.
