+Kyrae Jenkins Tornados are caused by extremely strong updrafts caused by hot air encountering cooler air, causing it to ascend into the atmosphere. That upward movement creates a rotation, and the movement of the storm forward forces the tornado to go upright. Humans aren't even close to have the kind of tech to stop tornados. We do, however, have the tech to detect and warn people of them.

+julie ann I would certainly love to agree with you, but have you ever seen a video without any sort of commentary? Even if there is one, I think for the sake of realism, I can say that a video without any commentary is a very boring video. And of course, there are those who hate to even hear the sound of their own voices. Still, you're very smart to have others come along on a storm chase in case you need someone to back you up. Being alone on a chase can become a very hairy and terrifying experience. Check out the video on YT from June 4th, 2015 when a storm chaser is by himself in Simla, Collorado and gets hit head on. His map didn't help him, and even worse, it was totally wrong. If he had someone else along with him, it might have been possible to pull up Google Earth to make sure he had another option in order to get out of harm's way. It's almost 11 minutes long, but if you watch it, I think you'll see that it's a very good thing he had radio contact. He could have been killed, and the last thing you ever need to hear about is a storm chaser being killed out on the road by himself during a chase that went wrong.

I would have definitely edited some of the voices though. The girl was a little much I did not think these were pros I definitely thought it was people just chasing a storm. Which is fine I would to. And definitely don't want anyone getting killed but sounds like he got a little to close.

But the commentary being a little annoying doesn't have anything to do with the safety of the chaser. I would have just enjoyed it more if some of it had been edited it out and I think it hurt feelings

+Jordan Lee Criticism of any kind isn't constructive. Maybe more of an observation, however, yes? Also, bare in mind that he was also trying to reassure everybody that they were still safe.

+Heather stubbs how is no criticism constructive? if people were to pump your tires all day you'd never improve. criticism is crucial to improvement.

As a spotter and chaser myself, I can tell you that often video provides valuable data. Some chasers seem to have the wrong intentions, and it bothers me, however people in Colorado seem to like their tornadoes; we average ~50 a year, Weld County has the most tornadoes of any US county, and since 1950 Colorado has only had 5 tornado fatalities. We're an outdoorsy state, we like when nature shows off, and we accept she'll beat you up a bit XD
