In this video, we're reviewing the WRC Generations game. This is the end of an era!
KT Racing has been responsible for the WRC series for quite some time. But this is their last WRC series game.

I’m going to pick it up, but I just wish they put vr in. Without VR the last few installments I’m kind of happy Codies is getting it. We will see if they can deliver those features like vr and bring over the wrc feel Kt put into these games.

My thoutgt is, this game has awesome stages. But it has stutter problems. on all platforms and even with a 4090. This is an engine problem. You can also see it in your video. This problem was also in WRC 8,9 and 10. Its weird you don't say this in your review. Also the stages are not new. Most of them were in the past versions. So its another copycat money milk version what is sad. Then for wheelplay, the FFB sucks compared to dirtrally. Also there is no propher triple screen support. So, it sucks don't buy it!

Disappointing to see the career mode looks largely the same as the last 3 games but as someone who mainly does time trials going for leaderboard times I'm just happy to see most of the old rallies returning. And at least the hybrid cars will keep the gameplay fresh from past games.

@@fartloudYT Yeah that's a fair call lol. If I wasn't such a diehard rally fan I'd only ever buy these games every 2 to 3 years so they actually feel like a new game. Annual releases are so bad for innovation in the games industry.

Getting a rally game from a company other than Codemasters was giving options for us. I'm sad that this will not be the case anymore. But I'm also curios how Codemasters will do with the license.

i don't think the lack of good ideas is why WRC Gen doesn't have these types of features implemented... they are being forced to churn out games yearly on tight deadlines with i'm sure a hundred different things they are told they cannot do because of licenses/budget/etc... It will be *very* interesting to see how the new Codemasters' games will be made with these same restrictions now...

I still think DR 1 is one good looking game. Whereas DR2 has a more vibrant feel, I feel like DR1 has a much more realistic look.

@@YoeriKurvers DR2 is a substantial improvement over DR1. Better lighting, more shadows, higher res textures, a PBR pipeline, and the significantly worse performance to match. The visuals are neat (As a visual guy) but I'd rather it look like Dirt 2 or 3 and have longer stages with opponents on track.

I cannot wait til this game is out! It is a shame that KT started getting their act together near the end and then got dropped. I read an article about how this whole situation could be a big blow to rally sim racers because we won't have 2 great rally games to choose from anymore. (the Dirt Rally series by Codies and WRC by KT) I guess some people are speculating that KT will still make rally games by bringing back and older series they used to make, which I hope is the case. As far as the controller/gamepad, a lot of people on the Xbox Microsoft store rated the game very poorly because it was "hard to drive with controller." I believe WRC 10 got a very unfair rating on Xbox because of this. Every single button and sensitivity of every button can be customized and before I got my wheel, I put a couple of world records/1st places on the xbox leaderboard for time trials. Anyways great video as always! This channel should start a racing club/team in the new game! EDIT: I forgot to ask, is the FFB upgraded at all from the last title? Or is it similar? and do you think that Codies will take the cake in the future? I have high hopes but i hope they can fix the tarmac.

Unfortunately KT said in a recent interview they won't continue making rally games, they said they have a specific niche motorsport in mind they want to explore next. No idea what that means...

@@Groaznic yeah thats a darn shame, in my opinion KT's tarmac physics are absolutely untouched by any other develpor. They really did a good job near the end. But I think the fact they had the WRC license with yearly deadlines held them back from making much needed improvements like better sounds and graphics. I'm sure those issues are what lead to the end of the WRC license.

For me, the driving physics are the key. It's why people still continue to play (modded) RBR. It's why I am infatuated with DiRT Rally 2.0's gravel physics. While there'll be people who want to know how this compares to WRC 10, there are also others who want to know how it compares to DiRT Rally 2.0. that is now an aging game, but it's still the king in many players' eyes. If WRC Evolution can exceed the gameplay from Codemasters' epic, then it will pick up new gamers (myself included). Sadly, the car models look utterly awful and not what a 2022 release should be.

As for DR2... That game's gravel physics give your front tyres magical super magnet grip, so I wouldn't put it pretty high in that regard.. Everything else DR2 does really damn good for the release date, but man those twitchy ass front tyres..

I’ve played a fair bit of generations today and although it feels a little better than previous games it can’t compete with dirt 2.0. I don’t have a pc so dunno about rbr but for me, the weight transfer and feeling of how much grip different car classes have, dirt 2.0 is unbeatable. Generations is a lot of fun tho!

Why? WRC 10 was on par, and far better as tarmac physics go, than DR2. Also the stages in WRC games are easily the best in the genre.

I'll have to think whether to bother with this one or not since previous 4 versions are already in the collection. Main problem for me has been how similar the old cars feel to drive vs. the new cars and apparently VR is some black magic still. If one could mesh the two competing rally game series together life would be so much better.

Looks nice but the sounds are off. Both inside and outside the car engine/power train noise sounds like any generic game and not like real WRC. I wonder if the driving experience is also closer to arcade stuff rather than a simulation.

I Love my DDPRO! PS version! Had/have the CSL ELITE and it’s good as well.. Fanatec and KIloton work together. So support is usually good.. One of the few games that support the V3 pedals!

I know the developer has proclaimed "The VR market is very small" as a reason they didn't offer a VR version of this game, but isn't this a "chicken and egg" situation? Dirt Rally 2 continues to be a great game for obvious reasons, like it's gravel Physics, etc., but another reason is that it ROCKS in VR. If a developer would do an epic VR version of an already great sim, I can almost guarantee you would persuade rally enthusiasts to try VR, and with most people, once you try VR, it's hard to go back to pancake-only sims. If you build it, many will come.

I don't know how to play rally games, i am super casual racing gamer, and everytime I plays the game with keyboard i lost control any car 5 sec into the game. Fun arcade rally game and big downgrade on gravel physics even under WRC 2 class which de facto It's more enjoyable in this game than new hybrid cars only 3 manufacturers. Many bugs and errors so really nothing done after many years of development rally games under WRC license. Have this game on Series X just for tarmac gameplay it's solid and only this. The rest it's lazy polished duplicate so nothing changed really. Next year Codemasters will release hopefully new WRC game... Will be better in many visual / audio points and even better as well if handling will be the same arcade like in this game from Kylotonn. But yes still missing rally Australia, Poland and Monza not to mention many cars from the rally history.

Are you struggling on controller? Try these steering settings: Sensitivity = -5.0, Deadzone = 35, Saturation = 100 Rescale = On. My stage times have significantly improved 🙌

WRC Generations has a big problem.. you can’t play with different setups with for example a Fanatec base and an arduino pedals. The menus are terrible n you have to use the mouse which works in parts of the menu n the dashboard to change any number.Waste my money and I DIRT 2.0 still better than WRC

WRC 9 had the most annoying sound bug. At some point in a stage, for an undetermined amount of time. Its like all the bass of the engine sound would be cut off. Leaving you with a whiny mess. And then it would suddenly come back. Super annoying. I guess its something KT struggles with, as this video underlines more weird audio problems. This aside from the fact that cars at least in WRC 9 sound like vacuum cleaners.

The third wrc game on the ps5 and it still looks awful. graphically not even ps4 level please put dirt 2.0 on the ps5 and see how wonderful a rally game can look and it runs at 60 fps.

WRC 4 was my first one and I could play it without thinking. It was a great way to think about life and reflect what I did that day. Think of it like riding a motorcycle on the freeway mind blank just reflecting. Dirt Rally to me is just something you play.

Wrc gen is by far the best of the series. Every game has haters. Looks like there are on here too. Reminds me of laughing when reading comments about how bad halo games are . Go figure
