1:30:41 “when I was a kid” by the way Dave was in his mid to late 20s by the time he was aware on AllJapan’s women wrestling. Jim Valley used to be a breath of fresh air in the WO when he used to complain about both companies equally but after a nice Tony donation he changed his tune and went full Meltzer.
If you are paying for content like this, then you are being conned 🤣. They also don't do it behind the pay wall with some stuff now because they need the engagement and clicks.
"The ratings are fine"... five seconds later... "if you told me two months ago these were going to be the ratings, I would've said that's pretty bad" - lol.
You got to appreciate the perspective that these guys bring to the table. When most of the folks reading this comment are their age, these guys and their knowledge of the wrestling industry will be gone.
Kenoh vs Minoru Suzuki from NOAH was straight trash. If not for Suzuki's blood, not even the crowd would have cared. The usual never-ending pointless forearm exchanges from every Suzuki (and Ishii) match that never means a damn thing. Minoru Suzuki is forever the former MMA fighter who can never get his rear naked choke to tap out anyone, and he'll always inexplicably release it in order to hit the Gotch piledriver that he... also (almost) never hits either. It's an accidental comedy of finishers that never finish. It's bad pro wrestling through and through. In this match, 35+ seconds of a rear naked choke of Kenoh on the mat. No submission. No referee stoppage. Then another standing rear naked choke and Kenoh stops selling the choke as soon as it's off. 2 mins later they go to the finish. So many glaring flaws in that piss-poor match, I lost count.
@@mohamadsorya6718 You haven't entirely upended the culture of an entire country and region instantly so to people like Jim that means you don't deserve anything. It's a childish viewpoint that lacks understanding of how change actually happens on a large scale.
WWE Women's matches getting "This is Awesome" chants in Saudi Arabia does more for women's rights than if they didn't go. Maybe you think if you virtue signal enough that will do something but it won't. To get tangible results you need to take tangible actions. I support the WWE continuing to show women as professionals and on equal footing as the men in Saudi Arabia.
Nothing like a sports washing drone excusing a human rights violating country. Nice of the Saudis to allow the women to show their hands, how progressive.
@@MyChannel-ol1zzwho are you to claim that you are of higher morals and have all the answers for the world? I'm a middle eastern, Middle East has rules, laws and regulations. You don't expect me to come to your country with my rules, you expect me to follow your country's rules and laws, in Saudi Arabia there are things that are allowed and things that are not and why shouldn't WWE follow them like foreigners follows USA laws?
@@mohamadsorya6718 Who are you to impose chattel like restrictions on women and other minorities? You morally bankrupt mark trying to excuse what the Saudis do.
If good matches doesn't mean anything anymore you'd think that AEW would focus less on it being their main selling point. It's clearly not helping with attendances and ratings
I was saying this a month ago and still strongly believe it...Mercedes MUST lose. What's the better story? Ex WWE top star walks in and wins the title in their first match then dominates the division for x months until someone is finally good enough to beat her? OR Mercedes loses. She then goes on to lose her next two feuds against different AEW talent. You tell the story that Mercedes is one of the best in the world. She came into AEW overconfident which everyone can see through her promos and presentation. Mercedes is STILL one of the best in the world...the only thing that changed is AEW's woman's roster is just better. You use this top name to ELEVATE the division rather than bury it. From here you have two choices 1) if you want to stick with face Mercedes you have her learn from these mistakes and start winning matches as a slow build from the bottom. She is NOT in the PPV's for a while because she's not at that level as per the story. But she's doubling down on her training and making a comeback. OR 2) If you want to go heel Mercedes (which lets face it you do)....she realizes she can't win clean. She's not good enough. Rather than accept this she resorts to dirty tricks and cheating. She wants you to believe she's the CEO...no one likes a CEO...wtf anyone would chant or cheer that is beyond me. Its ALWAYS been a heel thing. She starts to win matches as a heel. Not a cowardly heel, not a Brock Lesnar monster heel but something closer to an Orton or KO heel. Your just good in the ring and everyone knows that but you cheat to get over.
She's 100% going to turn heel, but that's more a function of the fact that she's been booked like a fucking goof on TV so far - she's never been a good talker, so they decided to spend three months having her just talk every week rather than just push back her debut to when she could actually get in a ring. They SHOULD HAVE done this heel turn already in the lead-up to the PPV, so that at least she could be participating in an intriguing story angle rather than just delivering canned promos about how she's the CEO and she's the bestest and she's gonna win the title and do a little dance. Absolutely no one cares about Mercedes right now Your option 1 is basically scorched earth "we greatly regret this signing" booking, lol. Tony paid top dollar for someone who has been doing press about the "women's revolution" for weeks and was pedigreed as one of the best female wrestlers from America, and after having her do stilted talking segments for weeks making her look bad, you then have her go out in her in-ring return and book her like an overrated geek there too, so as to finish extinguishing the remaining embers of her star power?
These 2 geeks said AEW Saturday show was great and the WWE PPV was just a show. That all u need to hear and this is why AEW can’t draw dead cause they listen to out of touch old geeks like this. They are clueless and now they don’t even know what a good match is anymore they are horrible
Listening to these 2 is tough. I think WON should stop reviewing WWE shows, they obviously hate WWE and their shows. There's no objectivity whatsoever. Just review AEW and New Japan.

Unca dave ain't gonna beat those aew allegations with this podcast. Aew ppv s are great yet the numbers keep going down. This don show has less than 7k distributed why dave why??? Unca doesn't have the answers. Meanwhile wwe numbers are up in ticket sales and dave says those shows are lackluster bc they are not 13 matches and 5hrs.... You've lost the plot dave... wrestling is about selling tickets and getting ppl to watch ur product...
When ticket sales or ratings are good, Tony Khan touts it, but when they're not they explain it away and act like it doesn't matter. Surely TK's goals were to grow the company, which is measured (in part) by new fans growing ratings and attendance. When these things are really down, doesn't that mean that AEW isn't reaching it's original goals?
