Wrighty, I missed your Golden Boot hat-trick on the last day of the season as I left the game early. Unfortunately, the cause was racism... first I'd heard over Highbury in the few years I'd been going from a teen, and it was the first time I went alone as my bredrin couldn't make it. Had a guy near me in the North Bank shouting "Why you letting that black bastard do that to ya?", speaking about Ken Monkou... when our team was adorned with black stars and heroes; could've been 0-0 or 1-0 at the time. I’m an Aussie who never really was exposed to football. It was all AFL. Then I saw Ian Wright doing an advert for the AFL on tv. I thought who is this guy. I watched a few games and EPL highlights and he was always scoring goals and incredible ones at that. From that day on I was an Arsenal fan because of you Ian. Fantastic career and well deserved. Two titles in three years, including only losing one game in 90-91, then after an awful first half of the following season, they went on a rampage - battering everyone and ending up with 92 goals. From 92, Man U and others stretched away, and George Graham's tactics went overly defensive. He also made some awful signings in that era (Kiwomya, Jensen, Carter, etc - no disrespect to them, but they were never of the standard required).

First and only game i got to see at highbury was fortunate coz it was leeds in 1996 and a neighbour Claude had lent me and my old man his 2 season tickets. The 2 greatest up top Bergkamp and Wrighty scored (wright only came on 80th min!!)...Dixon opened the scoring up and 2 years before that it was Mr wright who gave me the love for the team with how hard he always pushed. Literally my greatest childhood memory. I struggle to watch this man speak and not feel happy. Top guy.
