Mark's explanations of how he constructs complete bits or single jokes are among the best around, he explains his logic in a way that gives you a look under the hood without losing the humor itself. He might be better off giving the Anne Frank bit to Sam or Ari, with their background they can go much further over the line without worrying about stirring up her fans. It would be a real kick in the ass if a goy inadvertently set off a bunch of Frankies that were celebrating the re-release of her 1940s era

The crowd wasn’t into joke 2 at the end, but they’re wrong, it has legs, keep at it! Comedy!

Here's a true story, several years ago with snow and ice Wintry weather conditions I was driving to work in my car and running way late. Speed limit was 25 mph right through the middle of town and I proceed to pass two vehicles crossing the double yellow line around a curve using no signal lights. My speed is 55 mph or there about, and once back in my lane a cop pulls out with blue lights flashing and the siren ringing, determined to stop me and hand me several traffic violations I assume. I, of course, flip on my turn signal and pull-over to the side of the road, but I *luckily* (-come to find out-) pull-over on a slightly downward hill. The police cruiser proceeds to pull-over directly behind my vehicle, but with a mix of wintry conditions, a slight hill, and not braking sooner the officer accidentally crashes into the rear of my vehicle with his cruiser:) He comes to my driver's window and apologizes for rear-ending me, and he asked me to step out of my vehicle just to have a look. Thankfully, no damage was done maybe a small slight scratch as he was slowed way down when hitting my car. He then explains to me everything he saw me doing while driving and explaining all the traffic violations I committed. However, he summed everything up by asking me to drive more safely and asked not to report the accident and he'll let me go. I say "yes sir!" and the officer says, "slow it down and get outta here." HA! I will never forget that day, way back in 1993 ish...

I only know Mark from listening to all his posted stand-up and every podcast appearance I can find. But as far as the storytelling thing goes, it seems like an unnecessary stretch. Like Mitch Hedberg said, you can cook...so can you FARM? Mark's one of the best joke writers ever...EVER! Why would he fuck with that formula? Who told Michael Jordan to try golf?
