This class teaches you how to write a screenplay in the crime genre, from comedic capers to mafia sagas to gruesome murder mysteries. Drama, thriller, and action take center stage here, with plenty of room for interesting shades and tones in between. How do we research the settings and systems in which our characters live and work? How important is this legal realism in the first place? We’ll talk character archetypes, crime setpieces, and the challenges of writing about policing and the criminal justice system.
