Interestingly. The double jeopardy rule was scrapped in the UK a few years ago. This was because a young man who was acquitted of murdering his ex after getting NOT GUILTY went round bragging that he had done it. He was charged again and got GUILTY

Without double jeopardy it wouldnt matter how innocent you were. You could have been on another planet, it wouldnt matter. They would have an infinite number of opportunities to prosecute you. Just try a different strategy each time until one sticks. Its better to let 100 guilty men walk free then to find one innocent man guilty.

Blaming double jeopardy in _this case_ is missing the point. This should have been an easy prosecution for police. They hadn't even searched the suspect's home properly, and they gave a deal to a witness that actually _weakened_ her testimony. The investigators fumbled this easy slam dunk. So yeah, frustrating but not for the reasons that most people seem to focus on.

My mom and brother both worked with Melvin. My mom was also a friend Maryann Shore. My mom couldn’t believe that Melvin could be capable of murder. My brother was of the opinion that Melvin was a little odd, but agreed he didn’t think he was capable of murder. He was quite a charmer obviously. It shocked my mother (my brother had passed away by this time) when the evidence came out that he had committed this heinous act to Brenda Sue.

Thank you for another great analysis of this case. If I were a criminal investigator, I would be greatly interested in “why murderers feel they have to ultimately take the life of another. In some cases, after analysing the murderer, it is clearly obvious why they committed the crime but in others, it must be like entering the mind of an alien. I would also want to build a picture of the killer's personality. For me, the murderous mind seems so indifferent from what I believe to be “normal” I guess the case that interested me most was that of Fred and Rosemary West, it interests me because I can not begin to understand their mind. For the most part I struggle to understand how murderers can take a life and then carry on with their daily life, especially in the case of Fred & Rose, given that they lived with their murder victims buried in their house and garden.

An excellent analysis. I remember this case - a truly repulsive slimy disgusting pos. Your succinct review of police incompetence (SOP these days) and perp motivations were totally on point. Really enjoyed this one!

So delighted you have reached such a Brilliant Number. Have not read this particular video yet. But will as soon as I'm well enough. Just had to say well deserved. And I have no doubt you will reach Many Many more. Your Videos should be shown in Secondary School's across the Land. If only to inform and Educate our Young People there are some people they should be careful who they put their Trust In. Thank You Dr. Grande for all Your Great Work. Many Blessings for You And Your Family. Much ❤ Love. Nu. 🇮🇪

Love these case analysis videos. You provide unique insight when it comes to the criminal behavior and convey empathy for the victims. I like how all players are included in your analysis (the judges, lawyers, police). Great insight

The best part of hitting a million subs? For me, it’s the small, thin sliver of hope that at least one cop will watch and change. Go Grande. If anyone can do it, you can!

Great video as always. But I got tripped up at 0:35. He worked at an import/export company. Did he want to quit importing and focus more on the exporting? What did he import? What did he export? (Seinfeld reference) 😆

I feel very bad for this poor victim. Good God. It would be interesting to see what kinds of police departments resort to using psychics. Just ridiculous.

Ty for your analyst. I read the book "Double Jeopardy" & found it very interesting, but you put the icing on the cake, so to speak, with your angle on the failures with the investigation & prosecution.

This was a really interesting case. I wonder why the state and the police made so many mistakes.

The verdict must have been heartbreaking for Brenda's family. The legal system failed her. Congratulations on nearing 1 million subscribers. Dr. Grande, I'd really like to hear your analysis of Laurie Dann.

I've never been more excited for a content creator to reach a million subscribers! 😆🎈 Hmm, I wonder if someone should be speculating on the reason for my excitement. This is the first time I've been in a situation like this. 🤔
