This reminds me of that case you did in Australia where the son killed the whole family, and that delusional, retired, rugby player somehow convinced a lot of people that the son was innocent. It also involved a [suicide] by rifle that had a silencer found in the house later. The killer was found NG in the appeal trial, the complete thing was a bad joke of a justice system.

I have analyzed every member of my family as well as diagnosed ALL of them. They couldn’t handle the truth! The speculating is over. Thanks Dr. Grande!

I lived 2 miles away in the next village. It was a very hot, humid night. You’d expect bedroom windows to be open, especially in a remote farm house. Bamber set up the whole thing.

It immediately occurred to me that having a sister that crazy could cause a person to speculate that they could blame a lot of things on her, including murder.

Here in the UK, this is still deemed one of the most divisive cases in our history. Definitely one of those cases where I flip and flop between both sides of the argument....

I was on the fence for a while with case, but now I am completely convinced Bamber is guilty. Here are some reasons: > He told a friend he could murder his family by burning down the house. When confronted by this, Bamber simply dismissed the friend as lying but couldn't give any reason the friend might be lying. Bamber's response was simply "go ask him (why he would lie)". Not really a believable denial. > Bamber's ex GF corroborated this story, but said he decided against it because there was too much valuable stuff that'd get destroyed in the fire. I believe she corroborated this without knowing the friend had given the statement. > When accused of murder on the witness stand, Bamber responded to the prosecutor "that is for you to prove" - seriously, what kind of innocent person responds like that? > The main reason I think he's guilty, is that Jeremy Bamber comes off like a COMPLETE SOCIOPATH. Just reading about his personality, behaviour and the things he said and the callous way he acted, I have no doubt he belongs in prison. For example he spent his way through his inheritance after the murders and then attempted to sell nude/topless modelling photos of his dead sister to the press. > I also want to add that Grande is wrong - it can't have been a 3rd party, because Bamber rang the police to say his father rang him to say it was Sheila. Yes the issue I have is the phone company has no record of the phone call from the farm. So if that is the case he's guilty. You have vast experience as a Doctor but here you surprise me with your view. Someone like Jeremy Bamber his personality , He gets off on it telling the girlfriend winding her up scaring her bringing his boy friend into the equation. ( He is in contempt with girlfriend doesn't really like women underestimates her thinks she too scared to say anything fear for own safety )see the overdoing the emotion thing at funeral then straight off to party of all places Amsterdam. Come on surely the personality of this individual coupled with lack of phone record makes him guilty. The sisters behaviour is very disturbing however the fact that Jeremy Bamber just happened to be shooting all afternoon with that gun and leaving it out loaded that is no coincidence. The window latch for years again that is no coincidence. The old man would not make a call to the son in the night while daughter was busy shooting everyone I the house.

As a very long time gun owner and been around those with mental episodes, nobody with an ounce of brains leaves a loaded gun anywhere near someone with her issues. Even for a minute, it is always on your mind.

Excellent Dr. Grande. The police "saw" someone in the house but waited hours for their swat team to arrive. Since they were all dead the police needed glasses. Police did not want themselves to be hurt by the unknown spectre in the house. Terrible police work.

I lived in the County of Essex at that time & it was a massive, UK media story - especially shocking as gun crime was very unusual. I've no doubt Bamber is guilty, the way he tried to frame his step-sister was particularly cruel. She apparently committed suicide by shooting herself twice, having killed her two sons & adoptive parents. Bamber had actually broken into & robbed the family-owned caravan site (which he owned 8% of!) some weeks before the murders. He boasted of smuggling heroin, broke into a Jewellers' & stole two watches - he was not a good man. It was thought that his adoptive father had violently struggled with someone in the kitchen; his adopted daughter was too slight to have done this successfully - overcoming a 61-year old. There was also a belief that the father might have been killed upstairs, & dragged into the kitchen. Because the Police believed Bamber was a victim, they actually agreed to his request to burn carpets & bedding. Why would Bamber want that done?! Finally, 25 shots were fired. A silencer with the daughter's blood inside it was found in a cupboard. She hadn't shot herself twice, then put it there! Bamber obviously used the silencer so no-one would know what was happening as he shot the victims, then removed it when he set-up the 'suicide'. This was because he realised his sister couldn't have shot herself in the throat with it attached: her arms weren't long enough.

I’ve never seen this case. Even on any of my British true crime channels. Thanks, Dr. for talking about it. Very interesting and lots of evidence that can lead to different conclusions.

Great work Dr.Grande as thorough as ever. I remember this case when I was very young , it happen very close to my home, a stone's throw away. It was a horrible crime. I have never been torn Jeremy was the one who killed them I have no doubt I have read a lot about Jeremy and his personality definitely was extremely entitled and bordering on sociopathy in my own opinion. I've always been a little suspicious of the female cousin who just happened to find the silencer and also the loose window in the kitchen that she told the police Jeremy could have climbed out of. Very suspicious.

Do you have any advice Dr. Grandep? I can't remember if his diagnosis was schizophrenia or schizoeffective, but it is definitely one of the two. Any advice you can give me Dr Grande would be very helpful.

My Dad grew up on a farm that had a family murdered in it in a similar style. The parents and children were all shot and killed and the case wasn't solved until the uncle confessed on his deathbed. I don't understand how people can be so evil.

I have not read about the case, but it sounds like he had a very strong motive for committing the crime. That alone would make it hard for me to rule him out, it's like he would be rewarded dramatically for getting rid of the core of all his problems. There is a chance he was a strategist and thought there was no way he could lose in the situation. Fascinating case and very helpful explanation and analysis.

There’s a mini series called The Muders at White House Farm. Tells the story of the one detective who almost lost his job because he refused to stop investigating. He was the only one who thought jeremy was guilty.

Sometimes you just cant know. Especially if the police screw up the investigation. Literally the worst thing you can do at that point is pretend like you know anyway. That doesnt just apply to criminal justice. More or less applies to everything. Thanks Devils Doc🤣 another great video!

It is actually not possible that anyone other than Jeremy or Sheila did it, unless it was a hitman hired by Jeremy. The supposed call to Jeremy during the murders proves that, because nothing like that would happen if someone other than Sheila was doing it - or it never happened at all because Jeremy did it. Spoiler alert: Jeremy did it, he was as guilty as hell

I heard recently that new evidence has emerged which casts doubt on Bamber's guilt. It has gone for further review to see if the new evidence is enough for an appeal. It suggests that Sheila was still alive in the house when the police arrived. Whatever the outcome, I think the family was obviously dysfunctional. How the parents managed to adopt sheila and Jeremy amazes me.

Suggestion to cover the case of Peggy Claude-Pierre who ran a house for people with anorexia and her own treatments (that failed and people died). Took place in Victoria BC Canada. There's a book "Anorexia's Fallen Angel" by Barbara McClintock and it was quite a scandal. When I was a waiter in the 1980s, Peggy was a regular at the restaurant where I worked. Just another interesting story for you to tackle

Mm, "a mixture of blood from Neville and June" Could be June. In the 'last struggle' June could have shot the (adoptive) daughter dead. Being highly religious, the bible was always with her, so she managed to toss it between them. Perhaps Jeremy had strong vibes that June would turn violent - and left the loaded weapon on the kitchen table. This is such a haunting case.

Great video, as usual, Dr.Grande. I was sure Jeremy did this until your last few points. This actually does point to Sheila being the killer. This is a mess. Nobody wins when you put a firearm in easy reach of people experiencing mental health emergencies. It's such a crappy organized murder site that it actually points more to Sheila doing awful things and then playing catch up to simply get herself ready to kill herself last. The weapon is a very small caliber standard hunting and target rifle that uses the 22 caliber long rifle round. The round is used for target shooting and hunting on farms, small game , like rats, squirrels, rabbits , birds ,coyotes, foxes and groundhogs. The reason for the silencer is so target and hunting shooting does not alarm anyone nearby. Sheila could easily remove the scope because the weapon was going to used at point blank range and the scope made the rifle harder to control and aim at point blank range with a silencer installed. Scopes can often be easily removed using as coin like a dime or a quarter. The silencer would allow her to kill her kids while the bedroom door was closed and not alarm her parents. 22 long rifle bullets are terribly ineffective at immediately disabling human beings unless of a very well placed repeated head shot or the heart is hit right away. Every bullet placement and the location the bodies were found absolutely matters in this case. The angles of the bullets through the bodies matter. A toxicology test on the two boys should have been done to see if their mom drugged them first so they would stay asleep as she killed them. The fact that 25 or 26 bullets were used means the ten round mag was reloaded three times potentially with 9 rounds to complete the murders....or that two other magazines, that usually people buy with these kinds of detachable mag rifles exist and were never found. They could have been thrown in the yard ,still there today , if the house still exists. This also points back to Sheila. The final double tap under Sheila's chin is definitely a way a person would kill themselves with this rifle and I have read of suicidal people shooting themselves with this very small caliber rifle numerous times and not dying right away. The ability to actually get that rifle under Sheila's chin like that with her alive would be extremely hard for a killer to do. Sheila was already mentally unstable and she might have well fought like hell to stay alive if Jeremy tried to use this rifle on her like that. Resulting in some very bizarre bullet angles through Sheila's brain and lower chin. An exactly almost identical upward bullet path points to Sheila doing this to herself. The repeated characterization by Sheila and her mother that Satan was in control of practically everyone in the house is very troubling. Damn shame we can't put Satan on trial. Jeremy ever gets a real good group of forensic defense attorneys to revisit this case ,he could go free. Driving slow is something some people do all the time regardless. The fact that Jeremy was in Amsterdam getting high afterwards might have been his idea of getting away from the madness that had just happened around him. If Sheila did do this, Jeremy knows just how lucky he was to not be there when Sheila went berzerk. As far as Jeremy's girlfriend, she saw a way out of numerous criminal charges by dumping her cheating boyfriend right on the polices lap. I also submit if Jeremy did the shooting each person would have died from head shots probably three each because this small, weak caliber demands several shots to be effective immediately. If Jeremy did this each shot would have likely been very close range with a burn mark on the skin of the victim. Body shots are a waste of time with this 22 long rifle weapon. Jeremy would already know this...Sheila would not. Plus the use of the rifle at the exact level that Sheila would hold it could be ascertained from the bodies and the wound channels. Jeremy was taller and the rifle would not be held at a certain up angle to shoot someone in the body or back. The length of the barrel traced by the wound channel back to where Sheila would be standing with it in her hands could clear Jeremy. Jeremy would have simply been holding the rifle , shooting into the body , at a much different angle. And as Dr.Grande said, there were other people with a financial reason to kill the entire family as well. As in Mr. "Gee, look at the silencer and scope I found that the police completely missed." Crazy + Satan + Firearms is never a good mix. Add in greed and it's an explosion waiting to happen. Just awful. Just.....awful. With a family as crazy as this , it is just better to never go home.

Fascinating and insightful, as usual. There was a documentary on Channel 4 (if I remember correctly) recently, that questioned the safety of Mr Bamber's conviction. There were too many points raised to go into here, (Dr Grande has addressed many of them) but perhaps the most significant was that the programme makers claimed to have discovered a Police telephone log record of a call from Neville on the night in question, saying that his daughter had gone berserk and had got hold of a gun.

Thank Dr. This one could possibly fall the other way. What I find strange adoptive mother has mental health concerns as well as the adoptee daughter both have been hospitalized more than once. So that tells me that the family is open to seeking help when needed. Soooo why didn’t anyone notice the adoptive brother was a killer. And why was his girlfriend quick to flip on him in exchange for her own freedom, but rat finks her boyfriend out at her first chance. But said zero until she could use it. That sounds fishy to me.

Jeremy is obviously guilty, plus if he told that cop he was going to buy a Porsche, that = life insurance money. If this case is actually hotly debated it must be between 2 people who think he's innocent and 2000 that think he's guilty, which, of course he is.
