@@comedybazz9807 a few of them yes, most of the questions are at least similar to these practice tests. Ma one suggestion is to memorize the geography (what grapes are grown where, especially Chile, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand) as I had a few of those questions on the test

Excellent work! Dear friend, please check the answer to question 25. I believe the correct answer is Gironde not Garonne. Thank you again for a fun exam!
@thirstyandwise
@thirstyandwise 5 месяцев назад
Gironde is the main river, and Garonne and Dordogne are the secondary rivers.

I don't know if the questions are 'official' WSET questions but if you phrase a question like "X is blended with Y to add:....", then it's ambiguous whether or not you are 'starting' with Y and 'adding' X or vice-versa.
@thirstyandwise
@thirstyandwise 4 месяца назад
Thank you for the comment. Questions are not official WSET questions. If you can tell me which particular question you mean, I can explain it.
@anonymous-mongoose7717

@@thirstyandwise I understood the reasoning but e.g. Q4: "Syrah can be blended with Grenache to:....". If I start with Grenache and consider adding Syrah, then the answer is "c) add tannin" because as you explain, Syrah is the darker, more tannic grape. But if I were 'starting' with Syrah and was considering adding Grenache, then maybe it is "a) soften the acidity" Or "d) add red fruit flavors." The phrase "Syrah is blended with Grenache" could mean either. The logic you explain is still consistent but it's just the phrasing of the question that leads to the ambiguity imo
@thirstyandwise
@thirstyandwise 4 месяца назад
Thank you again for your comment. I checked q.4. It was about adding Syrah to Grenache blend. Point of this question like you recognized to understand what Syrah contributes to Granache, which is Tannin. Adding Granache to Syrah dominated wine as you said is a different question like you said. My apologies if I was not clear enough, I understand that there can be confusion sometimes. The point of this mock question is to get better understanding of the material, and not just learning fact information.
@rafaellapolo
@rafaellapolo 4 месяца назад
But in your explanation you said “when you add Syrah to a granage blend, granage adds gives tannins to the blend” it should be the opposite - granage takes/receives tannins or Syrah gives/adds tannins

Hi bro I'm interested in being a sommelier,,how challenging is since i dont have any knowledge about wines??
@delimpiador
@delimpiador 5 месяцев назад
This is not as straightforward a question as it sounds. It is not challenging from the point of view of being academically difficult. Technically you can pass level 1 somm without ever tasting wines and same goes for most of the wset wines. That is just getting certs though and will only get you at most an interview. Without real world experience however, the certs are just boxes being ticked. I had tasted thousands of wines before I considered bothering with any certificates. So, if you are in the position to taste an incredible amount of wine, then yeah...getting your somm can be worth it if you feel the calling. Loads more people certified than making the big $$ or having the enviable and well known gigs though
@thirstyandwise
@thirstyandwise 4 месяца назад
I started learning about wine because first it was interesting for me, and second because I saw that Sommelier have a nice job and earn well. My point is learn about wine if it is interesting for you, if you like what you do, you will embrace any chalange. Also do not be afraid, better regret something you tried, than something you did not. Good luck, ai hope this answers your question.
