Yann Pilgrim 0.0833 is not a percentage, genius... Doesn't even make sense to ask what percentage of a foot is in an inch. How many feet are in an inch. There is this thing called unit conversion. Anyone who has taken basic chemistry, physics, or engineering course knows how to convert units. How many cm are in a meter? 100. How many kilometer are in a meter? 0.001. To say zero would make you look like a complete idiot because that means you cannot convert from one unit to the other.

Yann Pilgrim Your opening statement is wrong, so I will assume everything you said after that was wrong. Percentage means per 100. Centi means 100. Per is a prefix letting you know what the ratio is. 1/12 is not a percentage. Unless you are honestly going to tell me that 12 is equal to 100 then just quit wasting your time. If you multiply 0.0833 by 100, then you have a percentage. Otherwise, you just have a ratio which is exactly what he asked. This might be an advanced concept for you (it's not, I am being sarcastic), but don't hurt yourself trying to understand it.

If this were math class yeah, and that should be an acceptable answer. However, 1/12 of a foot means it is no longer a foot, it is now an inch. If you chop a foot into a 12th, it isn't a foot anymore. So you can't fit a foot into an inch. Its like if you try to fit a 1 foot (diameter) basketball into a 1 inch (diameter) hoop. You could cut the basketball into a 12th of its size, but it is no longer a foot basketball. So technically the only answer is 0, but 1/12 should be accepted

This entire thread of the debate over the right answer to the how many feet are in an inch is an excellent example of cognitive bias. Those who prize themselves on being mathematicians and say the answer I 1/12, miss the purpose of the brainteaser. It is a listening exercise, not a math problem. Those who argue that zero is the correct question, refuse to acknowledge the mathematical logic of 1/12. The exact measurement was not the point of the question. The normal question is, " how many inches are in a foot"? When people hear the reverse of that question, they still answer, "twelve". The point is to test people's listening skills, not their mathematical proficiency. I think a revision to the question that would satisfy you is, "how many TOTAL feet are in an inch?", to which the question is none. The presenter asked the question incorrectly.

Right, as 0 is not a fraction or decimal because it's the only number on the number line that does not have a place value. Now, since it is less than a whole, I think it would be accounted for zero instead, as twelve inches equal a foot, not the other way around.... I guess, IDK. I didn't search it up or anything, just connected the parts and I am inferring. Lol.
