Wu-Tang: An American Saga. RZA comes up with the beat for "Assassination Day" and plays it for Ghostface. Ashton Sanders as RZA, and Saddiq Saunderson as Ghostface Killah.
What's wild about this is GFK isn't even on the song, but he put it on his album. The solo albums felt so much like group projects that it took me years to realize it
The reason why this song was like that is bc of how Only Built was. Purple Tape was Raekwon with Ghost as co-host. Ironman was the same way with Ghostface at the front but Raekwon and Cappadonna as co-hosts. So, there were tracks on each album that featured guys by themselves.
The feeling of discovering a new way to create or a new idea forming in your head is indescribable. I was pretty excited watching it all unfold in this episode.
Real talk, RZA should've been propped up way more as our east coast beat maker. He's the only one who chops records up like Dre. Unless there's someone I'm not thinking of. But that surgical precision that they both have is a little crazy.
What’s crazy… as a avid Wu Fan… I was telling my Kids while watching this he is doing “Assassination day” they was like.. Okay… what’s assassination day? Damn kids 😂
When he was playing with the strings I kinda heard it but didn’t. It was like he was teasing the audience. When Ghost grabbed the Phone and the beat dropped. I was like Ahhh Shit😳. That beat was crazy the first time you ever heard it. And too this day it still is. RZA always been on my Top 5 of Producers. This Series Showed why. His thought process is un human, just outta here✅
Man. I was telling my nieces and nephews the same. Then I say the Sky is high and the Clouds are low...let's see you try the water technique.... That Playlist is engraved in my head still. They said damn you hear a beat then you know what song is next. Classics.
There was poison in the birth water the earth daughter rest her head on my chest during the struggle we cuddle under half moon crest. Deck killed that assassination day verse. Ahhhhhhh. Shit still knock in 2023
Just finished this episode felt like I was in 8th grade again got the chills when the beat dropped dam near got emotional when deck started rapping …Feel like I took the golden era for granted
Any creative knows the absolute resonance, alignment & satisfaction RZA felt from identifying & bringing into form that vision/vibe/tune he heard in his head & it being EXACTLY as he imagined it! PURE BLISS. This track is insane🔥 I'm sooo sad that this series is coming to an end💯 but I'm so grateful they made this & gave those who appreciate real hip hop, lyricism & creativity refuge in the amazing story of my favorite rap group Wu-Tang. Wu-Tang Forever💯👐🏾🐝♥️
I remember when I bought Ironman the day it came out, and put the CASSETTE (lol) in. Played "Assassination Day" about 3 times, and didn't get "it" initially. RZA went waaaaaay left with that beat. Once I got it tho, the rest was history. One of my favs off that 5 mic album 🔥 🔥 🔥
Fun fact: It was on Ghost’s debut LP b.u.t. Ghost didn’t have a verse on it. There are many reasons to make this the best ever Wu Dart. Usual Suspects in the Intro. RZA verse great. One of Deck’s best ever. This track’s a treasure.
This episode was special to me because GFK is my fave all time AND I just don’t understand how Ironman doesn’t get the love OB4QL & Supreme Clientele gets… ITS RIGHT THERE
I move through the third world my third eye the guiding light Invite the fight We all die tonight 🔥 one of my fave Wu songs & Deck went stupid as always
They all shined, but RZA struck a nerve with his off-kilter delivery. Some don't have an ear for him, but I was always ready for his verses. RZA, Prodigy, plus 9th Prince are masters of that off-kilter flow.
Soul controller was the shit on the ironman album. When they repressed it theny took if off. .....the 3rd verse the guitar shit really took off. Rza. A mastermind
As a hip hop head this scene is so relatable lol. there’s been a few times I’ve heard a song for the first time laying in bed with a shorty about to get busy and stopped everything I was doing and turned the radio up lol. One time I was getting sloppy and the late night mixtape show premiered jay electronica exhibit c. When that beat dropped and bro started going off I told shorty hold on and ran to the radio and turned it up😂😂😂😂😂😂 she was mad at me the whole night I didn’t get none until the morning lol
Stand out beat from a stand out hip hop classic album. This is one of my favorites on the album, but to be honest, this whole album if fire start to finish. Matter of fact, I think I'm gonna spit it now.
Yes. My reaction while listening to the Ironman album in junior high 7th grade at home after Black Jesus finished playing on my Walkman. I was by myself...but I asked the same God damn motherfuckin question.....
I wish Ghost dropped a verse for this but the structure with Deck leading off as usual, one of RZA’s best, a flawless Rae verse and MK emptying the clip at the end.
Is it just me but is every person affiliated with the Wu is not always on there own songs from there own albums. If so Rza and the Wu family were geniuses. Been there since 94 one year late. Wu Tang Por vida 👐
@@tdup191 umm not really bro supreme clientele bullet proof wallets method man acting career with movies raekwon dissing the rza and if of course ODB leaving Wu Tang joining rocafella then dying a short time after that it's alot still they can play on and actually ghost face solo career went to another level doing those years .
Wu-Tang American saga 🫡 Bringing up jams I’ve either not heard (cause there’s so much music out some things get overlooked) or bringing things back that I appreciate better 🫶🏿
There’s something very strange to me about this first off I know RZA had to make that beat like 95 and they definitely didn’t have flip phones plus ghosts never even put a verse on that song
They definitely had them back then my man had the grey Motorola flip phone in 94 same one nas had in the beginning of the world is yours remix video sitting in the Lexus
You must not be from that era whatsoever because flip phones became a thing around 96. Plus, companies used to gift rappers merchandise that wouldn’t be released until about two years afterwards; from cars to phones lol. RZA used to buy MPC’s that were still under development. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a flip phone in 96 😂
Imagine how that beat would have sounded being filtered through two garbage '90s phones. It would have sounded so silly you would not be nodding your head
Who else just lost they mind assassination stop fuckin playing I knew it was a reason why ironman in my top 10 sonically different from every album that dropped 96
