When Melon started talking about U-God, he sounded like all of my grade school teachers who would start off their conferences with my dad with, "Now, Richard has a lot of potential..."
Worth mentioning that INS had his solo project destroyed in the flood which ruined RZA's basement studio. His solo career never took off because of the album being lost, and then he was sidelined after that.
@@daryl7531 yeah the beats for his subsequent projects weren't nearly as good because he ended up getting last dibs, due to his lack of exposure. Kinda makes it hard to imagine just how good the og project was.
yeah definitely my favourite member when it comes to their group efforts. dude is very versatile too. i think he has the funniest quotables in the group next to ODB, and yet in another song he'll remind you he can be the best rapper in the group with unbridled lyricism.
Putting Meth below Raek is crazy. No disrespect to the Chef but Meth is like, probably number 2 most necessary after Rza and in a lot of ways even more because he brought a more mass appeal without watering anything down
The GZA is by far the best lyricist with the slickest word play and that alone makes him S-tier. He legitimately has multiple bars from various tracks that, it could be argued, are the greatest lines in rap history.
libchudtano is such a btxxhh for REFUSING to say the 2nd track off 36 chambers. he wont even rap Wutang lyrics!!! for SHAME!!! so disrespectful to ⚫people to NOT say the n word
Being fair, I knew no one was going lower than C. All are exceptional rappers. I felt like Method Man should rank at S. Went back and forth with Biggie, always delivers solid lyrics. Flow, delivery. His chemistry with Redman. Should be S tier.
2:30 - Yesterday morning in Toronto, my friend was at a cafe & had their order mixed up with this guy wearing a cape & Yeezy foam runners. Cape went up to correct the error before my friend noticed, but my friend complimented their fit and after talking for a few moments, he decided he’d be fine eating whatever my friend ordered, and vis versa After exiting and bidding farewell, a group of people suddenly descended upon the man, asking for pictures After 15 minutes of trying to google who they were, based on the brief interaction they had, realized it was Method Man And his order was immaculate, highly recommend the Method Man breakfast sandwich order. S+ tier for sure, genuinely great guy (We’re Zoomers so we only knew Wu Tang the group, not individual members and their work)
Got to drop the breakfast order now, can't leave us hanging. Also I'd argue not knowing Method Man is less a generational thing than it is a taste thing. (Source: I'm also gen z)
I love RZA’s rapping in Gravediggaz. Everyone always talks about his production, but he's an underrated rapper as well. The Czarface records are so good. I love INS. He would definitely go in the S. Otherwise I pretty much agree with the list
I would put INS in A but S is questionable imo. The Czarface album are cool and his name probably is what pulled most people into giving them a listen but let's just be honest with ourselves. Czarface seems more like Eso's thing while INS is just along for the ride. The former is clearly the driving force behind it all.
GZA is my favourite of the bunch when it comes to rhyming. He is creative, intelligent and educated himself well. Liquid Swords is a masterpiece. But I agree his longevity is a problem. He's one of those artists who seem to just spit out all the incredible ideas on one record and then just can't beat that. On the other hand, have the Wu Tang ever got close to their mind blowing and one of a kind debut?
Would def rank Deck also in A; he's a beast when it comes to (opening) verses. I mean... "Protect Ya Neck", "Triumph".... I also loved his first LP even though it came out too late...
Great list! However, I do think it’s slightly remiss to highlight Ghostface’s contributions to Cuban Linx without mentioning Rae’s performance on Ironman
@@newyoutubehandle wrong, he’s arguably the best rapper of the clan and he arguably made the best solo album of the clan. He deserves an A or S tier. Meanwhile you’ve got Deck in S tier somehow.
I love Wu Tang rankings because every time they get to U-God they're like "I mean, he's not BAD but..." It's like being the child of a celebrity but instead of being an actor or musician, you work as a regional manager for Taco Bell It's not as glamorous but sometimes we need that stability
Ghostdini has some heat. You gotta be prepared for love/relationship songs but it’s dope for what he was trying to do. Or maybe I’m biased cuz he’s my 2nd favorite MC of all time.
I haven’t seen the group as a whole live but I have seen Method Man (with Redman) and Ghostface and Raekwon and let me tell you the energy Method Man brings is simply different, I think only Onyx has ever brought more crowd pumping enthusiasm to the stage from any artist I’ve seen live. Also they all played Shimmy Shimmy Ya and Method Man was tearing up and every crowd was all over the track
You have excellent taste. I agree. I have watched Onyx live on RU-vid an the energy they carry is insane. Top tier like Cypress Hill on live shows. Watch the Wu Tang forever and NY State of mind tours for Wu. The crowds went wild. Like when they did I like it raw in Chile and the crowd went nuts.
imo he's a better feature rapper than a solo. raekwon's in my top 3 but i think he's the same way, he sounds 9 million times better with ghost to bounce off of.
Wu Tang is so good that you got Inspectah Deck. Fantastic rapper, endlessly fun, always a stellar adition to any song. And he's only like 6th best. Thats how high the floor is.
REF ODB STyle: Absolutely he had a father to his style, TOO POETIC (GRYM REAPER, RIP) was mining similar unhinged sing-rapping ground before him. That Poetic was in Gravediggaz with RZA should not be missed. Poetic is probably my all time favourite.
Favorite solo albums is a tie between Supreme Clientele, Liquid Swords, and Only Built for Cuban Links.. Underrated is Bobby Digital. Also, the Kill Army was a good Wu Tang spin-off.
@@RonKooby 😂 ..Did you just learn how to use the phrase simmer down? Because I've in no way responded to you in an aggressive manner. I stated if you believe someone isn't qualified to do this then produce your own. Did you feel threatened by me saying that? Did it offend you? You're a strange dude.
Yeah, maybe its because english isn`t my first language and I don`t get everything, but for me Method Man was always the best out of them relativley clearly.
Uncontrolled Substance is easily the most underrated Wu Tang solos, and when he's on a Wu Tang song Inspecta Deck often has the best verse. S tier easy for me.
Wow, I’ve been on a big Wu-Tang kick since my copy of Ol’ Dirty Bastard return to the 36 chambers from the record club “vinyl me please” came last month.
I largely agree with this. I probably bump Meth up to A but thats about it. RZA IS the wu-tang clan so obviously is S amongst them, and Ghostface has been the most consistent for over 20 years.
#1: You didn't do this in order of the "Clan in Da Front" role call, 0/10; #2: Now you have to do a tier list of all the solo albums. Yes, all of them.
U-God was pretty capped by being in jail for most of the 36 Chambers recording sessions, really cool that he used the little time he had out so effectively on that album
I think I bought a U-God album from a Circuit City on my wedding day. Wait, maybe it was Inspectah Deck. The memory of impulse CD purchases really IS the first thing to go.
I HATE the term “criminally underrated”, but the pun works here: Tical 2000. Rap’s Dark Side of the Moon. Ppl sleep on Meth because he’s simply “charismatic”
