I miss these WV teams. No, they were not highly sought after, 4 or 5 star recruits. But they gave you 150% every game, hated to lose, and played with passion. Unlike the pampered, ego-centric recruits that come in who only give partial effort at times.
IMHO Joe was the best all around college player that year. 09-10 season. If had returned for his senior yr WVU would've likely won the national championship . I truly believe that!
I like em both the same. When your a mountaineer fan it don't matter how bad you did in one season you love the mountaineers just as much when they went to the final four or when they upset Duke.
what an awesome team that year, i remember watching this game and going absolutely crazy. looking back and relating this game to this seasons final four game against duke its clear to see how a dominant big-guy can help the team win in crucial games. in '08 WVU had alexander, in '10 duke had big z. i just graduated from wvu in december and im really glad i got to watch some amazing games, this year in the video, and this recent season going to the final four. i love WVU
This game is when I really started to despise Duke. The way they played in the last few minutes, dirty, like spoiled brats when they knew they were going to lose. And their coach knew it, and didn't put a stop to it. Awful. Great to see them get beat.
i enjoyed this game and was fun to watch. Duke always has a well-oiled team. They had our number in the F-4 though. Look forward to having another great team soon and maybe meet again.
No. They didn't have our number. Butler, the best player on the court, got his leg broke. Like the night we lost to Pitt, it's called " The West Virginia Curse". The curse tricked us into joining the Big 12. WVU will never win this conference. Sad. I've been a Mountaineer fan for over 50 years and I knew West Virginia was cursed when Major Harris got injured in the first drive of the Championship game vs. Notre Dame. The 1st big BCS win was vs. Georgia. WE couldn't even enjoy that win because we lost 12 minors that night. The curse is real.

@j2thamei i hear you, but for example, KS, in my opinion, doesnt have the natural athleticism to play the 3 in college. he will find a spot on a roster, but he wont be tearing it up. our next good to great potential nba player is going to be kyrie irving. he has the potential to be a special pg in college and the nba....
Looking at the current state of the program (and his health), I say Huggins best days are behind him... I’ll always appreciate him however as he was a true Mountaineer faithful; he could have been the coach at any top ten school and could have had a ring by now, but loyalty won out, and for that he’s a champ.

i caught the 2nd half of the game, that was intense. yeah that's goin a bit too far. WVU fans are rowdy but we only go to the extent of throwing stuff lol, i don't think we've ever pushed it that far. that's pretty bad tho. they won, no need to disrespect the opposing team after the fact.
I mean some college players do carry their talent into the league. It's hit and miss, really. It just disappointing to see some players kill it in college, get a bunch of hype, and then flop when they go pro when you know they could've done better given the opportunity.

@j2thamei you should have seen Comcast center last night. that game was ridiculous, but the UMD fans are something else. Chanting "Fuck You Scheyer" in unison, spitting on a Duke player after the game, and then harrassing Nolan Smith's family during and after the game. Wow.

@mavman1994 You wouldn't have won if the didn't call the 5th foul against Greg Anthony on that phantom charge. The NCAA hated UNLV back then they couldn't have them repeat as champs. Barnes is coming back so Dook will get beat up in the ACC . Duke is never the underdog always get the easiest bracket, play close to home and the games are always 8 on 5.

Duke would not dominate the Big East. The big East may not have the #1 Team, but from top to bottom, it is the best conference in college basketball. Right now the ACC has UNC and Duke. BC and Wake Forest is down, but after that, there is no one. Duke would be in the top 8 every year; some years maybe on top and some years at #8. Thats the truth and it may be hard to sallow, but all you Dookies hout there will have to recognize and admitt it some day.

i like how all the closet WV fans come out after a big win. where have all you been for the last lets say 15 years while duke as been the best college basketball program? i will agree they were over acheivers but so is WV and belmont, thats why college basketball is what it is. just remember this year and last year when duke is back on top in the next few years! enjoy it..
