14:35 - About the Apache control issues in DCS - there is a pretty amazing post written about these issues on the Steam reviews page for the Apache module. It's written by a career Apache mechanic that isn't an Apache pilot himself, but was working on Apaches for two decades (IIRC) and can operate the heli in the full motion sim he has access to as a part of his job. He wrote that he can cold start the Apache and feels pretty good about doing short flights, keep it in hover, doing simpler maneuvers etc, but since obviously isn't officially qualified to do it in the real thing, he does it in the full motion simulator that's normally used to train Apache pilots. He stated that the DCS Apache is WAY harder to control than the real thing. That is apparently caused by the fact, that the DCS Apache lacks certain important feature the real deal has. The real heli has an updated modern FBW package that constantly modifies and sort-of "autocorrects" the pilot's inputs, as a result of which the overall experience of controlling the heli is much smoother, and causes the perception that the heli is much easier to control. The Apache is possible to fly even without this mode, but it's a nightmare to control, and the onboard computer considers flying without it an emergency. He also wrote that Apache pilots HATE flying the bird without it, and dread the moment when it disconnects. So, he basically claims that the DCS Apache is like flying the real thing, after the flight computer crashed. Oh and it feels way too heavy. I'd give you a link for the actual review, but i can't seem to find it anymore. :-(

I would say losing track of which you was manning the guns and which was flying the aircraft constitutes a pretty serious breakdown in cockpit resource management.

See, what you gotta do is get up real high with the helicopters to where you can use your helicopter as a turret while you freefall. All the planes can do is circle around you.

Zeppelin's and Boat Planes VS AC-130's and UH-1H's!👍 Rules-- Zeppelin's fight AC-130's and vise versa, Boat Planes fight UH-1H's, and vise versa! However UH-1H's can only attack Zeppelin's with Door Gunner! Boat Planes can only attack AC-130's side with Cannons!

I'd say the apache would be the best in this scenario since it can track air targets with the 30mm. Instead of having 2 human pilots that don't communicate well have ai gunner and human pilot. Benny Hill would be a good artist for this video. Side note why run from the planes when they can simply hover and get their guns on target. Since they already know they can simply absorb the rounds.

That was something less than exciting. I fully expected it to be a turkey shoot with the helos destroying the bi and triplanes. Maybe your helo pilots need some practice or something. I expected at least one helo to hide waiting for a biplane to come sauntering by and the helo blast him right in the face. Oh well, maybe next time. Keep up the good work. I like it.

Great video and I loved this concept, and it shows you how dominate a piston engine aircraft icould be against helicopters, if they have big enough guns. Until.the Sa342 misses came out. Yes, the WWI aircraft did had SFM over the helicopters, how the aircraft with tatics on display, these old aircraft did much better than I thought they would. Well done

this reminds me so much of the swordfish sinking the Bismarck the canon AA of the Bismarck unable to effectively damage the canvas skin of the swordfish they're able to hit but the HE filler is unable to activate on the canvas so the shells passed through relatively easily causing little to no damage

Seems the Apache is modeled far too heavy in the game. In the scenario you were in you shouldn't be flying all over the place stick right in with the building, don't need those radical maneuvers, move slower if at all, which will also make the guns much more effective on target. Also it seemed like the look down shoot down wasn't working or being used. If the choppers are going to try and dog fight, I only saw one RTT by an attack helo throughout all the sims you did.
