One of the most underrated and amazing voices ever in country music. This performance was at the height of her vocal prowess and vulnerability. She conveyed through voice and emotion the heartbreak of it's lyrics and had every audience member in her hands. One of the most amazing live performances by any female artist ever recorded.

in 1993/94, I was in the painful process of divorcing a woman I did not want to say goodbye to. This song was one of the most popular on the radio and it basically became my anthem. Our oldest son was married a few months ago and after not seeing her for almost 6 years I can honestly say it is not over yet. I still get a lump in my throat when I think of her and have yet to find anyone who moved me as she did.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what it feels like when you're forced to say goodbye to someone you can't live without. "There's no easy way to get through goodbye". After all the years that have passed, this song still stops me dead in my tracks AND I still love her as much now as I did back then. It's been 20 years.

@@wynonnajudd7388 this song was one I listened to as the love of my life left me. That was in 1993 I think. It’s painfully so beautiful. Even today, but your strength is equally as beautiful. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. You are loved. You are worthy. I’ll pray for you to have more strength and even more comfort in the days to come. May mama rest easy in light and love. She was a blessing to me, as are you. Keep trucking queen.

To me, this is Wynona at her absoloute best. Powerful, controlled and her voice makes you believe the words she is singing. Great lyrics and great delivery.
My first wife told me goodbye in 1992. The words from this song said exactly how my heart felt. This song still brings tears to my eyes today. Painful, but beautiful.

This song will put me in tears if I let it. I do not listen to it very often, for that reason. Anyone who has ever loved and lost in a relationship, this song is incredibly powerful. Bless her! Love you Wynonna!
shawn1967chevelle Wynonna Voice is Pure heart and Soul Especially when she sings and being able to hear the heartache in her Voice is pure gold pleas be respectful

This artist has been a part of the tapestry of my life. She was with me through the days and nights and helped heal my broken pieces of not only my own soul but of my children's spirits as well. Thank you Wynonna for your talent and your beauty and your ability to convey strength through your voice. Thank you so much.
If there’s one thing Naomi wanted for her daughters Wynonna and Ashley.. is to be happy and successful. She made sure of that before leaving this world. Seeing her smile and probably was thinking “That’s my girl” ☺️❤️
Her mom stepped out but before she did she set Wy up for success, as any mother should. Wynona rose to the occasion, gave us her best vocals, songs and became a one named Superstar. Amazing.
This song makes me cry. It can be applied to life so many times, whether you’ve wasted 9 years with someone who didn’t really care or waiting on someone to make a decision.Wynonas voice is AMAZING!!!!!
She looks so stunningly beautiful in this video. It makes me tear up, my cousin was a huge fan as I was too. He was killed in a car accident in 2012.I think of him whenever a Wynonna song comes across the radio. Happy Memories.
I WAS IN THE AUDIENCE THAT NIGHT, seat 30. I also attended the midnight dress rehersal and took some amazing pics. Sadly to this day I cannot release those pics as I wasn't supppose to take them (stars didn't look their best). So 18 years I still keep them in a box. During the dress resersal i was in seat 2 right in front. She was brilliant. This song is brilliant. I had no idea this clip was here. WOW !
I have pics taken from the night before this live broadcast. Wynnona showed up with Garth and Reba. They went on stage one after another. I took pictures from the front row of the grand ole opry. Those pics are sealed. It was midnight and they were not superstar dressed but normal people who just wanted to get it right on the day of the show. I still cannot believe that I was there. My pics prove I was. I love this song with all my heart and soul.
Hands down one of THE best awards show performances in the history of music ~ Her sorrowful, soulful cry asking this question - that she may or may not want answered - is so poignant ~ and so "Wynonna" ~ Peace, Veronica

This is truly one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen! Wynonna has, in my opinion, one of the best voices ever by a female in country music. I miss the days when artists sounded as good (or better) live as they do on CD. So many are made in the studio now days and sound horrible live.

IN 1997, aug 1st, Colorado Springs, I left the love of my life. I was packing up my stuff into the van. At 10 am, a thunderstorm with sunlight and little rain (normal for Colorado). My love ran out to my van as I pulled away. I cried. On his coffee table i left a cd with a note. Play this. It was this song.

The most deeply felt 'broken heart' song I have ever heard, when a singer cries while singing , it adds the depth to the song, when the singer adds their emotions of a broken heart into the song, it makes you feel their pain of loss of love.

What a beautiful face with such a soulful voice. Her music tells a story like no one else. Why do I love Wy? Just listen as she captivates your mind and heart. Blessings sweet, amazing lady.
I have this performance on a VHS somewhere...and have never forgot it...this performance surpasses the studio recording and MAN...was she not at the top of her game here...just wonderful...

I could listen to this a million times and it wouldn't get old. She is stunning here. And look at the pride in Naomi's eyes,, she loves her daughter so much and it shows. I wish I didn't have to say is it over yet, 2 years later, it's still not over,, I miss him and love him still, but life moves on. This song hits home for me
I remember watching this that night back in the mid-90s, I was so proud of and happy for her....she looked great and got a well deserved standing ovation.

I remember watching the 1993 CMA Awards when Reba (in her shocking red dress) and Linda Davis knocked it out of the park with "Does He Love You" and thought to myself, "How does anyone top that". Shortly thereafter Wynonna gave me the answer. It may not of topped it but it surely equaled it in emotion and crowd reaction. Incredible performance....
Studio version was ACC's #68 song of '94. God bless ya, sister Wy! Thanx, chance, for postin' it. Didn't need any 'non-country' instrumentation, though!
Lord this woman has the most beautiful voice ( and is so gorgeous).. her other deeply moving song I love is 'Heaven Help Me', she puts all she has into her singing, all of her heart.. Beautiful song Wyonna Judd, you are so beautiful ..... fan in midwest.. yeah we love country too. :D*
It is not only her voice but the powerful way she presents it....hauntingly beautiful...many of us have experienced the loss of a love...sadly beautiful

This is just raw heartbreak in the form of a song. I can barely keep myself from crying when I hear it even though it's been years since my last broken heart.
Same here. Every time I hear this song it reminds of the moment when I knew my first marriage was coming to an end. I had just dropped my wife off in North Carolina. She was starting a new job there and the plan was for me to join her in a few months. However, things had been bad for a while and I knew as I pulled away that it was never going to work out. Just started crying my eyes out right there in the driveway. Every time I hear this song it brings me right back to that moment. It's been many years, and thankfully I found a good woman and moved on with my life (though it took some time). Still, this song gets to me.
Listening to this, I realized that Wynonna is one of the greatest female vocalists of all time. She is right up there with other greats like Whitney, Mariah and Celine! The emotion that she puts into a song is heart wrenching! You feel every word she sings!!

One of the best songs and performances ever. I listen to her greatest hits all the time. My 31 yr marriage ended 3 yrs ago and music has helped me heal. I'm living in the moment and beginning to feel free. Nothing a good song, family and faith can't heal. Thanks Wynonna for you sharing your wonderful gift with the world!
Song writer is Billy Kirsch -- this is a GREAT song -- I have never understood why the public does not understand how important a good songwriter is--without good songwriters, many singers would end up having to "sing the phone book." One of the nicest things about Nashville is the abundance of outstanding songwriters, folks who can tell a wonderful heartfelt story crammed into 3:30 (minutes:seconds). Also, the man sitting next to Naomi looks very much like David Foster, though won't guarantee.
Some performers sing. Wynonna owns this song. I find it impossible to think of anyone else attempting to sing this. Because that would be all it could be- an attempt. For some of us this song marked the passage of our hearts from a severely weakened state when a very dangerous, addictive relationship ended. I have found not only the depths of my pain, but also the heights of healing and joy, thanks to this one song, and the woman who gave it voice... God bless you, Wynonna. It truly is over.

@Mark Hall: Achingly articulated. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful tribute ❤️ Years ago I went through a crushing divorce. I played this song over & over in my car, volume loud as loud as it would go as I tried to drown out the pain. Those were difficult days. It’s a rare gift when words and music can evoke such emotion as the memories from long ago come rushing back to the present. You remember what it was to be in that moment, heart aching, hurt and alone. I suspect I’m not the only one who feels this way about this song and Wy’s music. It was Wy’s first solo album that got me through that awful time. I survived my divorce and learned how to be stronger because of it. I will forever be grateful to Wy for seeing me though that time. “Only Love” Wy, “Only Love” ❤️ Thank you Mark for posting such a heartbroken but beautiful message. It brought it all back… the sweetness and the pain. I’m grateful 💓
This song will make you cry for every love lost and every dream unrealized. Simply a beautiful song, performed by an incredible artist with an Angelic voice.

I connect with this song in so many ways. Our son passed away late June while I (his momma) was in ICU on life support. I know now that I wasn't allowed to be there because I would have been on my knees begging him to keep fighting and begging God to please allow him to stay. I am dying inside every single day without my son. To wake up to this news was more than my heart can take. I love you Justen and momma always will. You were strong and endured more than anyone I have ever seen in your short 20 years of life. We will be together again baby, I promise. Love always, Momma
