New to the channel, great content!! Congrats on that buck! Pack goats are a awesome idea. Are they any special type of goat or just your ordinary run of the mill goat? How how much weight per goat?
@MountainRat
@MountainRat 3 года назад
Hi Jacob! Welcome to the channel, welcome to the family. There are a variety of goats that work for packing. Ours are mostly alpine. They can carry 25% of their body weight and most of the goats are about 200lbs. So max they can carry, including the saddle, is 50lbs. Also you have to keep them exercise and in shape to be able to carry it up the mountain. They are fun overall tho.

We all have souls my dude. Sounds like you're just a hater.
@baseballman4958
@baseballman4958 3 года назад
@@MountainRat I don’t “hate” anyone or anything. Far from it. You should dig deep down and explore your soul and question what triggers (excuse pun) the desire to kill beautiful creatures. I don’t hate you; I truly care, and I wonder if you’ve experienced something traumatic in your life that has caused you to lack sensitivity and empathy for other living creatures. I hope you can find the path to appreciate animals living and thriving, and not feel the need to end it for them. Good luck.
@MountainRat
@MountainRat 3 года назад
@@baseballman4958 I appreciate animals more than you im sure. I understand that conversation is extremely important in the healthy balance of animals. I put more money into the system and spend more time up close with these animals then you ever will. We don't blast animals with no regard or love for them. I want to see these animals thrive. I admire them with all my heart. You're making a connection that if I kill an animal, I have somthing wrong with my soul. Did you know that 10 out of 10 animals die with or without hunters? Did you know that killing an older deer with a weapon is much more humane than how mother nature does it? I eat meat and I'm going to practice my God given right to collect my meat my self rather than buy it in the store. You're feelings are blocking reality. You can choose to not hunt. Thats fine. But hunting is not barbaric or any other negative name you give it just because your feelers can't handle life's reality.
@baseballman4958
@baseballman4958 3 года назад
@@MountainRat There is so much in your thoughts that are troubling and even scary, from the perspective that a human could evolve to think this way. I would ask you to at least call a spade a spade, ie, you hunt because you get a charge out of the stalking and the kill. That’s it. Instead, hunters frame it in words like “sport” and “conservation” and “respect”. Don’t insult my intelligence and that of the vast majority of the human race. You literally say in the same sentence that you kill animals yet you love them. You say you want them to thrive yet you kill them. You say 10 of 10 die anyway, so what’s the big deal if I bring them to an untimely demise--by the way, an action that you decide unilaterally is ok, the prey has nothing to say about it? I’m guessing you wouldn’t be ok with being taken out before your time? Think about what you’re saying and how convoluted it is, and at the very least take the romanticism and BS out of the equation: you’re killing animals, you get excited by it, end of story.

@baseballman4958
@baseballman4958 3 года назад
@@MountainRat I’m pointing out that the dots don’t connect, ie, it makes no sense to kill your favorite animal!! Let me paint a broad brush and say that most if not all hunters have dogs and love them deeply. You wouldn’t kill your dog, would you? A big part of the problem is in the communication. Yes, I hate hunting. It’s a totally unproductive activity and a human can spend his time in much more healthy pursuits. However, if I accept the reality that hunting will go on forever, I can at least ask hunters to eliminate the BS and stop cloaking it under the cover of something it is not. Start by eliminating the concept of “conservation” and “I love and respect the animals”.
