By the way, Chris, you're 'meant' to only do so with proper names, such as Jesus. However, I think you can, if you wish, follow the rule across. The key is to be consistent with it. I personally agree with you, the double 's' is silly to me.
i understand that but he said 'our' host as if to say hes british, when hes just not ... just one of those things that annoys me and it happens all to often
My brain doesnt work that fast or probably i dont have much experence watching x factor But can anyone please elaborate the final mic drop from ricky I dont seem to get it fully And yeah i know im dumb
No doubt if his act wins he gets paid more so Ricky Gervais mic drop pretty much meant he'd lose and would have no chance of getting the guy on a recprd deal
What I love about Graham Norton is that he is not afraid to have comedians on his show. A lot of show hosts don't want people to upstage them, but Graham is different. The two of them combined is just priceless, god I love Ricky.
You know what makes this clip funnier? Towards the end, we see Ricky's thought process working. I don't think he immediately settled into the decision to end the call abruptly but rather he flipped through his rolodex of revenge to pick the best way to be humorous, succinct, and impactful. Making that final decision is what makes him a great comedian.
Yeah its a lot like footballers, no? At the top level everyone has wide arsenal of incredible skills, but what separates the great ones is the decisions they make in those final moments in front of the goal
I love Ricky, he's from where i used to live, born in the same town, never met him, but by god he's good... done a lot of good work for charity since becoming famous, good on ya Ricky! you'll always be top of the pops with me!
I LOVE Danny Evans!! He sent me an autographed picture along with his CD, and I've enjoyed hearing him on RU-vid the past 5 years. I love going back there and I do feel like Louis was hard on him. I was crying when he sang "To where you are" and as he took a breath, you could easily hear a cry in his voice. He was truly singing to his deceased wife that night. I love Louis also but he has been harsh at times.

Streatham Soprano Exactly right. It's obviously Ricky's choice to stipulate any (reasonable) variation in pronunciation, but if I hadn't heard it, I'd drop the "s" as well. But then again, I took French in high school.
Whoa whoa whoa - can we stop all this egg bashing please? What have eggs ever done? Why drag them into it? Hard enough life as it is without their name being hauled through the mud on RU-vid...
Louis pronounce it right tho, in an old XFM show Rickys mum phoned up and said "Tell him to stop call you Gervais (Pronounce the way everyone does) your name is Garvey (Still spelt Gervais but pronounced that way)
Such a strange clip because Gervais himself is notorious for looking like a lesbian in most pictures including in this very clip. He really is the master of irony.
HostDisorder That's how this was brought up. They were talking about how much Gervais looks like an lesbian, and Graham transitioned into this clip by going "Speaking of men who look like old lesbians..." and cutting to the pic of Louis.
Yea, on the old XFM shows Rickys mam calls in giving out that Stephen Merchant pronounces Gervais with the s and that it should in fact be pronounced as Louis did with the silent s.
