This song was before they broke up in 1997. This is from the Dahlia Tour. Hide passed shortly after the break up. The singer came back in 2007, I believe and they released the soundtrack to Saw IV, with the song IV. I have been a fan of X since 1990. I was fortunate to see them live in Taipei, Taiwan. The energy they bring in unbelievable. Just a note: this song was written and composed by Hide, not Yoshiki.
This sounds so different from other x Japan song because this is written by hide , his songs always sound so sneaky and playful 😈 ps. Your expressions lol you felt the music with your face hahaha loved it
YESSSSS! 🤘 The performance title is correct...this was stitched together from the New Year's Eve Toyko Dome shows 1995/1996....however, the footage of hide's opening slow groove was taken from the Dahlia Tour Final show on 12/31/96. That piece is not part of the original song as it appears on the Dahlia album, it was only performed live. The scrolling text, and what Toshi hollered at the end, was DEAD POEM. It echoes the techno-sounding refrain which was voiced by hide and is in English: Dead poem's still alive/dead poem's still alive into me/dead poem's still screaming/dead poem's still screaming into me. You will understand what that has to do with scars if you look up the translation to the lyrics....
I love this one! Honestly love every song of their and hide's originals, i think that Love Replica is kinda underrated (song of X Japan but made by hide) it has origins from way back the 80's when hide was still on his own band Yokosuka Saver Tiger. Scars clearly has vibes from Hide's vision of Psyborg Rock, which he was deemed the God of.
Well said and agreed!! I have watched Saver Tiger footage and it is amazing to see hide at his roots…Yoshiki sure did play his cards right by poaching him for X Japan!
The rap intro is because hide originally wrote this as a solo song, but they needed more tracks for Dahlia, so this and "Drain" wound up on that album. hide later re-recorded Drain as "What's Up, Mr. Jones?" with his own lyrics and vocals solo. The title of this video is because they took the intro from "The Last Live" and added it to the Dahlia tour version. There's also another version of this that they played in 1994/1995 called "Scars On Melody", which was much closer to hide's original idea and is worth checking out to hear Toshi singing in baritone.
@@edward7434 You can literally search "X Japan - Scars Last Live" It's from The Last Live. Yes he started doing the intro during the Dahlia tour. However the version here is from The Last Live. This is the only song from The Last Live where Pata wasn't playing a Les Paul and hide used the Greenheart and Yellowheart for everything except this song. He didn't have the Greenheart or the Glow in the dark MG in 1996.
Yoshiki on drums. Phenomenal drummer. X Japan had Taiji Sawada on bass from 1985-1992. Then joined Loudness. Played with Munetaka Higuchi dr, Akira Takasaki gui and Masaki Yamada voc (ex-Flatbacker/Ezo). Killed himself in 2011. X Japan guitarist Hide did the same in 1998. Both are still considered members of the band and are presented at their concerts
@@edward7434 Yes, ALOT of questionable things surrounding Taiji's death...I think his fiance and family are still seeking justice. I also subscribe to the theory that hide's passing was accidental and that he meant no harm to himself.
Certainly was not a fan of this at all. Not big on heavy symphonic elements or progressive sound with an emphasis on ballads. From what I have read: Hideto Matsumoto aka Hide, was a Japanese musician which played lead guitar in X JAPAN from 1987-1997 He studied cosmetology and fashion at the Hollywood University of Beauty and Fashion He Played knock-off BC Rich guitars and died in 1998 of what was ruled a suicide by hanging Always tragic reading stories like these
