@@alexmartin9951 nothing really breakes only the Spur gear came of it happened a fe times ist the only Problem in that truck i got the xmaxx to and thrust me you can send this thing to hell and not only ones before it breake
It's like watching a good movie but the Actor is a total scumbag in real life. I don't like the fact that Traxxas is overpriced, but I still have an Xmaxx 8s, Maxx 4s and a TRX4 sport crawler. They are very durable vehicles and most parts are very cheap. Is there Traxxas overpriced? YES. Are my vehicles durable? YES.
@@joseCalderon1976 I've changed the hubs and rpm hinge pins, haven't broke any of those yet but weather has been terrible and I was looking something to do
Nice bash with some Big sends Brother 😜!!!! She took a pretty good flogging 👀. I'm curious what broke loose or crapped out after that noser. I'd think the driveshaft would've bent up 🍻😎💪👊👊
Vas VAS! I have written this SO many times now😂😂😂 and here we go again😂😂😂 PLEASE READ THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL😂😂😂🙈. Put a Tekno Rc pinion in there and set the pinsystem to one tooth less than what you are using, even with the stock spur and pinion. For exampel, it the gears you are using is "18/54" set the pins for the motor in the 17/54 setting. No need for a machined spur. NO more breakage😍👌🏽. If you want to use the 46t spur, buy a 19t Tekno pinion because the pin system will only go down to 18/46. Happy bashing and great content as always! 😍👌🏽👌🏽.
Great to see finally the Xmaxx driven by you on this terrain! :-) Just turn off TSM for jumping and doing backflips, than its easier and quicker to perfrom, when the TSM doesn't fight the intention to flip ;-)
All things considered Vas, your driving was spot on. That’s a lot of truck to handle and you’re not used to it. I thought it was a more than a worthy bash. I still think it’s one of the best rcs on the planet. I mean first Thomas P, now you! They’re worth the price of admission for sure even though it’s a big price. Good show! Can’t wait to see more of it from you! I know you’ll grow to love it more and more. Cheers!
I have the x maxx, absolutely love the truck, been without RC for many years and started with x maxx and a Kraton 6s for my son, both great RC’s, anyone thinking of buying an x maxx just do it👍🏻😀 (as long as you have the space to run it!!!) Great vid, thanks
The stock pinions and spur gears aren't much chop. Get a Hot Racing hardened metal spur gear and a quality mod1 pinion. Don't replace with stock ones as they just wont last. The stock wheels are great for general bashing but they aren't great for air control. Get something slightly bigger and slightly heavier like one of the Louise or Duratrax options and air control improves massively. Anyway some of those "landings" were just brutal.
Look, I love Arrma, but I will have an Xmaxx one day. Good of you to get a proper bash with one Vas. Looked to take some solid hits, sure it broke but I think most stock vehicles would have with those hits. Nothing is indestructible... Bash what ya got and enjoy the sport.
Wow that's a proper beating and I'm really impressed it didn't shatter into pieces. Every bad landing I was like "oh no, it's done for" but actually it takes it. Hope you had fun Vas, that's the most important factor :D
You got some nice air off the smaller jumps Vas! That big jump just got ya too vertical and you don't have quite enough power with stock electronics to backflip or correct properly. Some of it is the inability to turn the brake strength down unless you have the Traxxas link. This truck hates nose landings! The stock pot metal gears just disentigrate 🤣 I can see that you had a good time though! That's exactly why I like my Xmaxx, big truck and can jump well 👍 Time for some more small upgrades and you will be good 💪
Newer trucks come from the factory with the plastic bits on the body to prevent the screws from pulling through. I hope there is nothing major wrong with your truck, I look forward to seeing more of it!
Nice video. Love my XMAXX. It takes a beating at the BMX Track. I only broke my rear carrier on a bad landing from a back flip gone wrong. Ten minute fix. It flies great through thge air, and for such a big rig, it gets some serious air. it always draws a crowd. Traxxas did a great job with the XMAXX. Mine is still bone stock, until I eventually kill the steering servo, ESC. and motor, then I will put in an 8S Castle Creations system. Love watching your race wars with your friends and I have on order the new Losi Eight T XE. You dominate those races with your Losi.
Awesome Bash session Vas, And Thank you for doing the X-Maxx.. Big truck this thing... Flies well!! Really want one badly but will have to keep looking for a "bargain" to be able to buy one. Hopefully yours is only a loose pinion... damn grub screws everyone has issues with!
Hoping it's a loose pinion also, but I have a feeling it's now because I heard some rattling in there when I was revving it. I'll be opening her up soon, so we'll see what's up then... Fingers crossed it's nothing major. 🤞
Oh wow! your at the Altona/newport skate park, why have I never seen you there? I drive there all the time. When will you be there next, I'll come for a bash with ya.
Seems to line up with what I've seen from Traxxas cars, they'll take flat land after flat land, but don't like the awkward landings that happen when it's more race track style. Not to worry, fix her up, get her back out there and tear up some more jumps!
Wasn't sure you'd ever bash an xmaxx for us! TSM has a tendency to make the truck unbalanced as it flies thru the air...causing it to crash. And because it's 4 wheel drive it's not really necessary anyway imo. That was quite a bash to the ol xmaxx. Enjoyed it.
I am very supprised but actually really happy to see Traxxas and in particular a Xmaxx on your channel. Did something happened that made you change your mind? Looking forward to hear what you think about it and how it compares to other brands.
Is this the xmaxx 6s that you upgraded to 8s? I torture my xmaxx 8s and it keeps coming back for more. The few parts that I have broken like rear lower control arm, rear diff cup outdrive, rear wheel hubs and front diff cover were super cheap. That's one thing that I really like about the xmaxx 8s. I have the speed 47t spur gear in there with the mesh set manually (got rid of the pin system) and the Max 6 esc.
Vas i know this is an old video, but im just now seeing it, it did take a beating. But honestly compared to the reeper, especially your krazy kaos reeper, the xmaxx seemed sluggish like a big rolling tank to me
I love watching all your vids, as I can usually tell how all types of Rc’s that you test are going to take some abuse before I actually buy one !! Awesome bash, and you were definitely getting some good air and a couple awesome flips !! What ended up being the problem ? Did the grub screw just loosen out of the pinion ?? Also I noticed you said you bought it second hand and got a good deal in your opinion, do you mind me asking what you paid so I can compare it to a good price here to a good price there for a second hand Xmaxx !! Thanks ! Keep up the Great Work and Vids !! 👍✌️
Thanks heaps for the kind words. 😊 I paid $750 with a spare Rock N Roll body (worth $145). It also came with all manuals and whatever spares it comes with stock. Given they're about $1450 new, I'd say I got a good deal. It was hardly used and looked very clean. 😊
What happened to be the problem when it stopped on you , was it the grub screw or something worse ? Plus thanks for replying with the price you paid , but was that American USD or off the top of my head I’m not sure what Australian currency is , as I’m in Canada and a person can find them here with all the manuals , original and extra speed gear , and good body for $800 , and you can also find them with everything I mentioned but beat up body for $680 and they are $1260 here with tax included !! Thanks
Just bought one of these and put the 46 spur in it and it shattered just like yours has but I'm enjoying it parts are cheap though it has pulled the threads out of one of the 4 bolts of spure shaft cap the mesh on stock 18/54 is good but if you use there 18/46 the mesh is bad lose could you check this on yours and share your opinion thanks great vid
That's the Traxxas "toughness"... Even the Maverick Quantum MT Flux (240 euros here in Barcelona hobby shops) endured much more punishment and came out with only bent axles ... But still working. You got a lot more fun out of it. And it did several triple backflips! Someone explain to me these mysterious mysteries of a brand like Traxxas that supposedly sells "quality"
Glad to see you drive this beast. Id like to own a trx xmaxx 8s too but I think I'll stay with my cen reeper, minor tweaks and upgrade on max6, now with dual 4s it won't need to hide behind that xmaxx :) I think your pinion is just loose or maybe split in half, let us now what the problem is. The last landing was quite aggressive to the front so no wonder why something broke. Keep going vas!
@@ParRagon- it could help indeed. the spring's job is just to push back the shock and maintain the ride height. the hydraulic in the shock absorbs the landing : more stroke (more suspension travel) absorbs higher landings
In my opinion the bulkheads on the X Maxx are kinda weak. If you fill them up with apoxy or something like it, it's good to go after that. Another thing I'm not a huge fan of is the motor tub will go soft after a while specially if you bash hard. It will just start stripping off spur gears left and right untill you change the rear bulkhead. It's not really a big deal I guess, it doesn't happen that often and you half to expect something to give with a heavyweight mammoth RC 👍
Ohhh an xmax vid, I bet the shell comes off at some point & I bet it rolls over while turning 😃 Yes & yes!! Bahahaha Oh what!!!! it's broken already! Bahahaha Traxxas tough baby!
Aussie RC Playground And that still happened? If so, check the Cush Drive it could be worn out. The older style Cush Drive has issues, Traxxas made a new style that fixed the issue. Also, without saying I’m sure you had the mesh right and the motor mount was tightly secured. I bought an old used one and even rot racing spurs would blow along with a x-maxx motor because of the Cush drive
its a pitty they stop making these traxxas xmax 8s for some reason..i could be wrong..but what ever left out there in the stores will be the last of them..😢
That's why I don't jump those ramps. Good idea you had to let the xmaxx take the abuse. That would be an expensive dentist visit but just a few bucks in RC parts.
Nice run. Impressive durability. Cpl those hits were bigggg. The sort of hits we have to admit and I’m sure you will agree would definitely damage the Kraton 8s. As you did yourself. I’m guessing it’s a stripped/ spur and pin. That nose dart into the ramp up slope was BRUTAL! This is why so many enjoy the Xmaxx. Yes it can be broken of course and has it’s flaws. All rc cars do. But it’s generally a strong / fun platform. Parts are plentiful and relatively cheap too considering the size of the rc. Owning both the k8 and xmaxx8 I could happily bash my X like that. Without worrying about it. K8 I couldn’t. Which is a shame imo. More importantly. Did you enjoy yourself !!?? 😀
Yeah, I did. I know my driving wasn't the best, I hadn't bashed this hard in a while and I could feel I wasn't in the groove, so I can't be upset or blame the truck for what happened. I'm aware those stock pinion and spur gears are crap, I've seen them all the time at the shop, but I wouldn't expect many other RCs would have survived the punishment I put this rig through. It did well and I'm actually impressed. 👍😊
Back flips are easier with a steeper ramp instead of BMX ramps.....they're usually for level long jumps not high jumps.....besides, the truck weighs nearly 20 lbs.........like trying to make an elephant do a backflip...guess with the right peanuts, they'll do anything😉
I haven't experienced that yet. Have you tried a new grub screw? I've heard that if you take the pinion out completely and give it a good wash in car parts cleaner or brake cleaner, that helps.
@@joseCalderon1976 I've tried using pinions from different brands and it still happens after just a few minutes of driving around on flat grass. I'll try the brake cleaner idea, that sounds good.
@@_RIL_ It's about trial and error in this hobby. Minutes after driving? Hopefully there's nothing wrong with the shaft on your motor. Try the easy thing first like I mentioned. What a bummer you are having that issue. I've beat the crap out of my xmaxx 8s many times without having that problem. Good luck!
@@joseCalderon1976 Yeah I see so many videos of people launching it and having no problems, so I always wandered why mine had that problem. Ok, I'll try that idea. Thanks for the info!
Great Rc I bought one used And it came with enough extra parts to build a second one. So I’m building the second one and sold off the the one that runs. Almost nothing into this Xmaxx now but my time Guilt free T*€XX@s purchase
Admitting you had fun with the X-Maxx is pretty much like enjoying a lite beer, sure it is refreshing on a hot day, and plenty of other people drink it, but it isn’t exactly top shelf. Still, I wouldn’t say no, it is a big gutsy RC, why not try them all?
