"I can't feel you" is utterly devastating. That whimper kills me everytime.

It’s been more than 12 hours since I watched this episode and I’m *STILL* not okay 😭 how *dare* they go this hard. This is invincible levels of emotional damage

I really admire how when writing dialogue for Magneto the writers said "Okay but what if every damn line outta this man was pure, inextinguishable fire" "We shall not spend our days wondering if we could have saved more"

"Sugar....I can't feel you" the voice acting by Lenore Zann broke my heart, and not to mention Rogue is my favourite, hats off to everyone involved with this episode Magneto was fucking superb as always and went out like a champ. Cyclops snapping at the reporter was incredible because he is the one you least expect it from. Gambit being a cocky bastard till the very end. This episode from start to finish was perfection. 🫡

I never thought XMen would have a higher body count than Invincible 😭

Guys, you seem to forget that the Watcher only shows up to pivotal moments, which are usually horrible tragedies.

Im a 46yr old man... i saw my therapist. She asked me why im sad. I said X-men 97 got me f'd up. How does a Saturday morning children's show got me more f'd up than any movie i seen in my adult life? It took 5 episodes!!!

Honestly now that I think about it, when Professor X told Gambit: "How often must the scoundrel prove himself as a hero before he believes it himself." This is what he meant, Gambit went down as an ultimate superhero by saving the remaining survivors on Genosha and Rogue of course. If that's not the way the cajun should go out then I don't know what is.

Ace of Base's Happy Nation playing during the gala was a nice touch.

PLEASE let Gambit be brought back. I don’t care if it’ll cheapen the emotional impact. As a huge fan of the character, it felt like he hasn’t gotten any love or attention since the 90s show ended. The movies and other cartoons didn’t have any interest in making him a main character. I REALLY don’t want this to be the end for him.

What me hit the hardest was Magneto saying "Hab keine Angst" (Have no Fear) to the Boy. Knowing his Past in WW2 where he maybe heard the same Words from his own Mother, that was really tough!

Heads up, The Watcher being present as the narrator for What If? Is like his side gig. His main thing is that he only shows up in person when something major is about to happen- so normally he shows up when something terrible is about to happen.

The watcher is not there because its a “what if moment”. The watcher is visibile only when there are specifici events that will have a heavy impact the story of the world he watches

Magneo, using his native German language to Leech in his final moments, to say what his parents said to him during the Jewish Holocaust was heartbreaking. The son became the father.

That’s exactly how the Genosha massacre went down in the comics…they even mixed in the Morlock Massacre from years earlier in there…whoever wrote this is taking me and a lot of others on an emotional roller coaster! Gambit being taken out was a head knocker! And notice as Rogue was holding Remy she was touching him skin to skin?. And hearing Rogue whimper in pain…one of THE toughest people, man or woman in the Marvel Universe…OMG!

What an ending! This was one of my favorite episodes of Marvel Television ever!

The episode hit, the "Hab keine Angst" from Magneto, Rogues "I can't feel you" But hey, at least Nightcrawler is okay! I always liked him for some reason, despite never having watched the original Series or reading the comics.

I love that they slipped in the Nuff Said reference by Wolverine to the old comic issues with that name!

"We will not live our days wondering if we could have saved more." I know there are so many great quotes in this episode, but this one calls out to me as it is reminiscent of what Oskar Schindler said in "Schindler's List".

Such a heartbreaking ending and chapter. I still don't believe that its magnificent animation and true handling of such chaotic drama dazzles so much. And truly Gambit was the best. 😭😭

When the watcher showed up in the sky 20 min in, I knew we were in some deep shit.

I was definitely not expecting that ending. That was a lot of death in what a lot of people consider a children's cartoon. And that final line hit me a lot more than I thought it would.

Just finished the episode, and I was definitely not ready. I thought there’d be something chill after the last few episodes, but man I can’t believe that happened to Gambit. I hope he comes back but if not, at least he went out as a hero.

X-men for me all up in my feels. Gambit is him! I love all the minor X-men characters they people the scenes in Geonosis with! This show in absolutely phenomenal!

Perfect example of how you can execute Invincible storytelling without having to show gore and graphic images/sequences. Finally, something in a Disney+ show that makes you feel something.

I just watched the episode! And that is my hero right there. The one who made me love comics and Marvel. The one with the great, funny, loving personality. The one who knew that love that girl and showed it without fear. I can't believe this is his end. He saved everyone and he saved the one he loved the most after she broke his heart. That is a true hero. I don't know how they will do it. But they need to bring back my hero. This can not be his end. After so many years waiting for him, not now. Even though it would be the best way to go, I can't accept it. He and Rouge deserve their happy ending! I just want that! I hope this hope we all have (many already) can be true. Love Gambit! Thanks for everything! I will remember it!

It's a very good fakeout. Magneto was detected. But then he built a tough metal shell for the kids. And then the Omega Mutant wasn't detected. But Magneto was hiding with Leech, who can suppress powers. So if the dome is built and then the powers taken, then the sensors wouldn't show Magneto anymore. That's my bet on how he's still alive anyway...

It was Ace of Base, Disco never dies. And yes, I cried 😢

If this continues, this will go down in history as the greatest superhero media to ever be done.

Episode 5 ...the party just started! YES! INTENSE! N MIND BLOWING!

"I'm hoping, because we saw the Watcher... this is like a 'What If...?' moment." Ok... 😅 1) A 'What If...?' is just something that happens on an alternate reality. Since this isn't the main comics Earth-616, by definition, this entire show is a 'What If...?'. And so is the entire MCU. This doesn't mean that it's a different timeline and everything will be fine by the next episode as if this one never happened. 2) The Watchers don't just show up in 'What If...?'s. The Watchers show up in all realities. And Uatu is the one Watcher who always monitors Earth. 3) When you see the Watcher, which is a very rare occurrence, it just means that something of gigantic and *possibly catastrophic* importance is about to go down. Like a massive attack that destroys an entire city and kills thousands of people. In other words, when you see the Watcher, that's not the time to hope: when you see the Watcher... *abandon all hope ye who enter here.*

I didn't cry when Magnus sacrificed himself, or Gambit was stabbed, or even when Rogue cried ... but when that badass song in the end played, that pulled the trigger. Cant hold My tears any longer

I want the fans to realize, and I’m probably the only one who has. Acknowledge squid boy. In the original animated series, he traveled to Genosha as a boy with his mom. Spiral and other pirates attacked the ships of mutants going to the island. Nightcrawler saved them! In this new series, during the party in Genosha, we see the now Squid man swimming through tubes, jumps out of the water, gets dried off and sits at the bar. Unfortunately he was one of the fallen, but don’t you fret! They will fix this. Everyone will live. Read the comics lol.

Gambit is a badass

In X-Men The Animated Series in the 90s, Cable went back in time and kidnapped Wolverine and managed to make an antidote to destroy a virus that Apocalypse made. Before destroying the virus, Cable said : “The names Cable, remember it, Apocalypse!” Coincidently, Cable's first appearance in X-Men the animated series was in Genosha when he first met Gambit who escaped from the Slave Island. Cable helped Gambit unlock his collar which allowed him to rescue Storm and Jubliee and the other mutants as well. And the new Cable is voiced by Chris Potter who voiced Gambit in the original Xmen Animated Series.

This is the best episode ever. Now Cable's gonna fix everything by jumping around in time.

Rogue just lost two people she loved most 😢😢

This episode is based off of E for Extinction. Cassandra Nova was to blame for this. Cable showing up and the introduction of Wild Sentinels confirms this was an alternate timeline. So Gambit most likely will be back at some point.

As a veteran, a volunteer at a refugee resettlement center, and a history teacher who has taught nothing but World History AP, the moment Magnus recalls the Holocaust during the mutant genocide hit me the HARDEST. Especially when he yells "They shall be avenged," and "Don't be afraid" (what his mother told him) in German. I know people consider Gambit's sacrifice at the end the episode's pinnacle, but for me, it was the former.
