I have this issue. Gorgeous line work in this book. The artwork is truly impressive. And the story actually flows pretty well and didn’t feel too dated when I re read it when COVID first started.

I bought this one off the rack. First time I ever saw Williamson's art and it was mind-blowingly fantastic!

*"Simonson's first professional published comic book work was illustrating writer Len Wein's story "Cyrano's Army", which appeared in DC's Weird War Tales #10,* which was cover-dated January 1973. Such short back-up war stories comprised most of Simonson's early published work. He also did a number of illustrations for the Harry N. Abrams, Inc. edition of The Hobbit, and at least one unrelated print of a samurai warrior that was purchased by Harvard University's Fogg Museum, and included in its annual undergraduate-use loan program. *Simonson's breakthrough illustration job was "Manhunter", a backup feature in DC's Detective Comics written by Goodwin, which cemented Simonson's professional reputation.* In a 2000 interview, Simonson recalled, "What 'Manhunter' did was to establish me professionally. Before 'Manhunter,' I was one more guy doing comics; after 'Manhunter,' people in the field knew who I was. It'd won a bunch of awards the year that it ran, and after that, I really had no trouble finding work." *Simonson then drew other DC series such as Metal Men and Hercules Unbound and co-created Doctor Phosphorus with Steve Englehart. Batman **#300** (June 1978) featured a story by Simonson and writer David Vern Reed.* …" - Wikipedia - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walt_Simonson#1970s

The Superman/Fantastic Four crossover was a treasury sized book. Look that one up. I believe Alex Ross did the cover and interior art was done by Jerry Ordway and Art Thibert.

This crossover absolutely destroys John Byrne's Darkseid vs. Galactus on every level. Of course, this is prime Simonson vs. "I'm too important to pencil before inking" Byrne. However, I agree that Perez would have been the logical choice for this comic. Perez was in the middle of his four-year Teen Titans run at the time. While never a regular on X-men, Perez had a healthy run on The Avengers right before moving to DC. Byrne would also have been a great choice. He was also in his prime during this era, and perhaps one of the all-time X-men greats, but he's still a few years away from his time at DC. In any case, Simonson (as always) hit a home run with this one.

I was an X-men fan, a Teen Titans fan, and that cover, so buying this as a kid was a no brainer. This probably turned me into a Walt Simonson fan. Still have my copy.

Man, I really love all the work you guys put up. Seriously, you guys are doing gods work here for comics. But look at that frame @ 3:00-I can barely tell where the edge of the comic is and the background on the right side. That background is such an incredible distraction from the work you guys are trying to highlight.

Deathstroke was Deathstroke the Terminator in his first appearance in 1980 (New Teen Titans #2) Raven (the bird girl who had the nightmare), was the daughter of of a personification of great evil was an empath who had to control her emotions. Starfire was from a free love society who was sold into slavery by her evil sister, the two of them whom gained powers at the same time, which allowed Starfire to escape to Earth. This was one of (if not the only one) the 80s Titans appearances that I haven't been able to acquire in some form.

Oh man, the art in this issue is priceless. I have it somewhere in my collection from when I bought it off the shelf when it came out. I need to go look at it again. It's easy to forget how great Simonson was in that era.

I adore this comic. I remember seeing it in a comic book shop and I scrambled to find the money for it. I’ve owned at least 5 copies of this book and gawk at the gorgeous work.

I get some pretty strong Q The Winged Serpent poster vibes from that BeastBoy as Lockeheed splash page. I looked it up, it came out in '82. Also, if I had been into X-Men at the time, i imagine seeing Scott with the Phoenix logo on his uniform, and blasting a phoenix from his eyes would've been the best thing i read that year.

It is pretty clear that Lucas was inspired by Kirby's New Gods. One of the issues mentions the "Force" in quotes that is invisible and powerful. I am convinced that is where Lucas got the idea in addition to Darksied (Dark Side) and his helmet. Also, Luke Skywalker is an analog of Orion. Also, this was definitively after the treasury. It is a shame they didn't release this as a graphic novel.

They planned to make another X-Men/Titans crossover where DC produced it. It was going to center around the Hellfire Club and Brother Blood. I think Perez had penciled quite a few pages of it. But they shelved it for whatever reason.

I always thought that Maskless Deathstroke looked like an Evil Colonel Sanders. Like Colonel Sanders from Star Trek’s Mirror Universe. Also, I would love it if Fiffe was on the show to show you guys some 80s DC books. Suicide Squad especially.

Got my red room! Also picked up Hulk Time of Monsters and I think you guys would approve! Art was unique and the story was... Biblical? If Hulk was in the Old Testament this would have been the way it played out.

Back in the 1980s, being a fan of the UNCANNY X-MEN and NEW TEEN TITANS comics, this crossover was quite a treat. And seeing Jean Grey and Dark Phoenix return from the dead was a big deal at the time. (Not so much nowadays, though). Yeah, and Walt dig a great job on this book. #MakeComicsGreatAgain
