Despite it being an average set of film overall, one thing is undeniable: Michael Fassbender elevates everything he's in. His portrayal of Magneto is so powerful.

Not only did they have bows and arrows, they had those without METAL components (because he is Magneto).

i noticed how you mentioned a few times you did not psylocke's outfit. It was Olivia Munn who requested that outfit because it was comic accurate. They were going to do a different outfit but she said she would not do the role if they did not make it comic accurate.

Say what you will about this version of Apocalypse, but his “…YOU CANNOT STRIKE GOD!” moment was pretty damn awesome. All praise to Oscar Isaac for making that scene incredible.

If anyone's wondering about Storm's history that shes not an Egyptian, well shes not. Somehow FOX made her early teenage life history right in this movie. The daughter of a rebellious Kenyan princess, N’Dare, and an American photographer, David Munroe, Ororo was born in Harlem in New York, though her family relocated to Cairo, Egypt when she was six-months-old. A few years later, N’Dare and David were tragically killed when a plane crashed into their house. Though she survived the event, Ororo(Storm) would develop claustrophobia due to her time trapped in the rubble of her home. Left an orphan to wander the streets, Ororo picked pockets and stole to survive.

I hate how much they toned down Psylocke (purple power girl). She is so amazing in the comics.

Fun fact, which I am sure you might have been told in X2, Nightcrawler is the son of Azazel and Mystique, and yet these movies never mentioned this.

Keep in mind, the X-Men films do not follow canon in many respects. Storm's powers were not "enhanced" or "developed" by Apocalypse. She was a tribal princess in Kenya who was found and recruited by Professor X when four members of the original X-Men (Jean, Iceman, Beast, and Angel) and two others associated with the original team (Havoc and Polaris) were held captive by a living island (yes, you read that right). That is when the "New" X-Men were recruited and formed (Colossus, Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler, Sunfire, Banshee, and John Proudstar (who would later be killed off) and led by Cyclops to rescue the original team.

Originally the comics Eric was the father of both Wanda and Pietro (Peter). Wanda & Pietro we’re in his original Brotherhood of Mutants but they left and joined the Avengers.

I loved that they tried to make Psylocks costume comic book accurate, (Thank you Olivia,) It's just to bad that the costume department kinda dropped the ball on her, and she isn't the only one.

You complained about psylocks costume. But out of the entire X-Men franchise it is the closest costume to the comics. Olivia Munn Is the actress who played the character and and she fought tooth and nail to get the costume as close to comic correct as possible.

No, it is not a joke. It is one of the only things they got right. Eric is the father of Pietro and Wanda Maximoff. He also ends up having another daughter with another woman; her name is Lorna Dane and she goes by the name Polaris. She's also featured in a TV Show called The Gifted. You should check it out, Vicky. There's also an MCU connection as well. But it's easy to overlook.

Psylocke's costume may not appeal to your aesthetic but it's pretty faithful to her look in the comics.

So yeah, Apocalypse did kinda not live up to the heights it could've been. Apocalypse is a big deal X-Men villain, En Sabah Nur was for a long time considered 'the first mutant' and used Celestial Armor to elevate his power. He was a mastermind for creating another villain called Mister Sinister (which the post-credits was hinting at, but never amounted to) and often empowered other mutants to become his 'Four Horsemen'. They used bows and arrows because guns were metal, it was something they could use that Magneto couldn't stop. Also Quicksilver (and Scarlet Witch) have often canonically been Magneto's children, it gets messy sometimes because continuities change but for the longest time the twins were his children. Storm in the comics did grow up in Egypt for a time, though she is usually half-Kenyan (a princess to her unique fictional tribe) and was born in Harlem, her parents moved there for a while until they died in the Suez Crisis. Also Psylocke's outfit is comic-accurate. They at least tried to set a lot of ground work; Phoenix hints, Magneto's parentage to Quicksilver, comic accurate Wolverine headset, and using mostly the popular X-Men lineup with Jean, Storm and Cyclops (Angel too but they killed him off), plus Nightcrawler and yet another Jubilee cameo, plus Psylocke.

On Netflix there's a new movie called, "All Quiet on the Western Front." The setting of the story took place in WW1. Should check out the trailer first. It's a really good movie.

you have to remember that this is not the same history the characters had in the original movies. Jean and Wolverine never had met before then and they didn't fight Apocalypse

Storm is African and spent time in Egypt as a child growing up thieving for a mutant named Shadow King. In the comics that is how Xavier finds Storm. He defeats Shadow king and banished his soul to a prison on the Astral Plain. The fight cost Xavier the use of his legs. That is how he got paralyzed in the comics.

Bryan Singer should've left the franchise after DOFP Because he already gave everything he had with DOFP, so it was a lot harder for him to outdo himself again

Yes in the comics Wanda (Scarlet Witch) and Quicksilver were Magneto children. That changed, most likely due to the MCU movies.

Looking back, Apocalypse would have made for a nice Thanos-type villain, with more movies building up to the final fight. They could have taken some time to build up the team, the mutants that would eventually become the Four Horsemen and Apocalypse's real powers. Like you said, it all seemed rushed and Apocalypse became a rather generic, cliche villain.

The film was a box office success, making $540 million dollars against a $180 million dollar budget. It received mixed reviews by Critics, yet I enjoyed the epic scope of this movie.

For those who don't know, (which I doubt is very many) but in the comics, Mystique is Nightcrawler's mother, and while it's not certain she plays that role in these movies, her saving him is a nice nod to that relationship.

And yes, Magneto is the father of Pietro and Wanda Maximoff in the comics, and they're mutants like him. But because Twentieth Century Fox owned the movie rights to the X-Men including any mutant character, the MCU had to change the source of the Maximoffs' powers in order to use them in their movies. They couldn't even be referred to as mutants or by their mutant names Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch until after Disney bought Fox in 2019.

Hey, Vicky! They set up the Quicksilver reveal in "Days of Future Past" when he commented his mom knew a guy who could control metal while breaking Erik out of the Pentagon. The Polish police brought bows and arrows to arrest Magneto to avoid bringing weapons with metal! "Dark Phoenix", set in the '90's, is the next movie to see followed by "Deadpool" in the '00's. "Logan" ends the saga with a comedic "Deadpool 2" epilogue. The biggest detriment to this film is that Apocalypse doesn't come across as terrifyingly formidable despite his insidious plan to enslave humanity telepathically by co-opting Charles' mind. Apocalypse always seems invincible in the comics and cartoon. His Darwinian philosophy isn't made explicit to those who know nothing about the character; he just seems like your typical megalomaniac. The highlights are: -- the Egyptian opening -- the Magneto family tragedy -- the introduction of Psylocke -- the Quicksilver sequence -- the Weapon X cameo -- the battle in Cairo using powers in concert (a staple that's always handled well) -- the psychic avatar duel -- the new line-up with a bald Charles at the end I loved how they made Logan look just like the Barry Windsor-Smith illustrations from the "Weapon X" comic. I also really liked the portrayals of Storm by Alexandra Shipp and Nightcrawler by Kodi Smit-McPhee. The guy who played Caliban was also great! The duality of Charles and Erik continues to remain the affecting core of the franchise. I hated that they started to go down the same Phoenix path they trod before in "X3" but, fortunately, they attempted to course-correct in the next movie by making the Phoenix Force something external to Jean. Halle Berry was cast for her status as a high profile actress but was never thought appropriate for the role of Storm by fandom. Whether they even bothered with the accent to be comic accurate or she had difficulty affecting one is unknown. Alexandra Shipp has a British accent normally but affected a generic African accent for the role. The upbringing as a Cairo street urchin is true. She picks Xavier's pocket when he discovers her. She was never a villain in the comics. Psylocke has a complex back story. Fangirl Olivia Munn insisted on the strappy Kwannon look when she inhabits a Japanese body but, initially, she is Betsy Braddock, the sister of Captain Britain aka Brian Braddock. Wolverine's electronic attachments were probably sensors but were included on film to be comic accurate to Barry Windsor-Smith's illustrations for the "Weapon X" storyline. This franchise wasn't made with a cohesive plan which is why there are so many continuity errors explained as variances in multiple timelines. No one knew the first film would be successful or as impactful on superhero cinema as it was. Once the train left the station, the filmmakers just kept laying down track and the audience went along with it. Characters meet for the first time at different points in the two timelines. Simple to understand. Don't overthink it. Essex Corp. refers to Nathaniel Essex aka Mr. Sinister, an end-credit scene that pays off somewhat in "New Mutants". I have a soft spot for the X franchise and am willing to overlook its flaws. Apocalypse is fairly different in the movie from his comic book, but in the movie he gains the ability of the mutant he gets transferred to. His original power was the sand manipulation I guess, he got some barrier power, regenerating power and probably a weak psychic power, that's why he wanted Xavier since he is literally the most powerful mutant on earth but has blocked his own mind and power out of sheer fear of himself.

90s Xmen fans: They really nailed Psylocke's costume. Right out of the comics!!!! V: they could have do so much more for the costume besides diaper pants.....

Well, you see... Apocalypse is supposed to be one of the end all villains of the X-Men universe. His powers are both from his mutation (super survivability and adaptation) and alien tech that basically gave him TOTAL command over his body. It took it to the point where all he had to think was "I cannot be harmed" and his body made it so. That scene in Xavier's head where he grew really big? He doesn't have to be in someones head to do that in the comics, he could just grow on command. All of that being said, they completely OBLITERATED Apocalypse as a character and twisted him into someone that was barely recognizable. Now, if they had done something similar to Infinity War and Endgame, splitting it into two movies or so AND maintained who and what he was from the comics, I think it would have been great. Instead, we got a botched up rush job with plot holes, bad lines and an over-emphasis on special effects. ... And sand. Lots and lots of sand XD

There was so many cool moments in this movie that I enjoy. Of course there are most moments that are a couple hit and miss, but I think this movie was enjoyable. Not as perfect as 'Days of Future Past' or other best X-Men films,but I think this movie is alright. As mentioned before, Evan Peters completely nails Quicksilver's character! I honestly wished there was a movie about him only. We kinda caught a glimpse of his mannerisms in WandaVision, but uh... yeah.. :/

A fun movie but - aside from Magneto's family scene at the beginning - I personally didn't feel much interpersonal connection or drama. Just "we must stop him or the world will end!!!"

Fwiw this isn't the last time you'll see McAvoy, Fassbender, and Lawrence. They reappear in X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga.

You're thinking wrong. There was the first original x-men timeline: X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: The First Class, The Wolverine. Then in Days of the Future Past, X-Men was about to be fully destroyed. And they change the full timeline Universe. Like buttefly effect. And now its another timeline where they were never met before. Its another timeline. Another Jean, another Storm. The same Wolverine from original timeline, but he was captured by Stryker at the end of Days of the Future Past and released in this movie.

Evan Peters in this movie plays the character QuickSilver. Its the same character in the MCU... Wanda's brother aka Pietro aka QuickSilver. Also do watch the 2 Venom movies. It is connected to the MCU.

You know that moment when the post-credit scene teases a villain you’ve been waiting since the first movie to see, we’re in the theatre in 2016, and you’re like “Finally! Finally he’s coming off the bench!” And I’m STILL waiting! 22 years later!!! They never followed it up. Woof! Sorry. Still a good movie. Not nearly as terrible as the critics make it out to be. I only hate out of love.

We see Charles giving Moira back their romantic memories as cute cus we saw it happen, but if I was Moira I'd be wondering if those memories are real or not.

When you are talking about a high school girlfriend, "He's insane" is a perfectly accurate description. AND he's an insecure jock who needs to assert his dominance, so that's even more accurate.

In the comics Magnito is the father of of Wanda and Pietro Maximof. When the deal with Sony was made Marvel kept the right to use those characters, but were not allowed to call them Mutants.

Fun Fact: Magneto is the father of Wanda and Pietro (who you saw in the MCU and more recently in Wandavision) in the comics and Evan Peters is playing Pietro in this movie although due to legal reasons they're calling him Peter. Unfortunately that was retconed in 2014 much to the disappointment of the fans.

Angel turning into Apocalypses horseman ArchAngel while listening to Metallicas “Four horseman” is my favorite scene.

The Magneto tragedy scenes, Quicksilver scene, Apocalypse scene and depending on who anyone is I guess the Wolverine scene made the movie alongside a few others. There is a lot of eye candy in this film. Much of the story otherwise just sort of lags and perhaps there is too much shoved into one place. It's difficult to feel involved with some of the characters like Moira whom was heavily featured, or Storm or Psylocke, Havok, so on despite being played by good actors there is so much crammed together along with other characters and subplots. It wasn't as streamlined as the prior two films were that stationed additional characters as background characters alone and not actually as plot movers. So a lot of big colorful scenes which were are very pretty and well done at that to it's credit.
