South is where the balls of America are, volunteer states, our military is primarily southern men, y'all would rather fight and rob each other. Go bathe, greaseballs.
Machine Cactus Industries lmao coming from the service majority of soldiers are coming from Texas, Cali, New York, and Hawaii you high cholesterol sloppy fuck.
I went with Flowmaster American Thunder axle back and the scavenger x-pipe. Purchased separately plus the axle backs were on sale. Saved me about $400 total. The hangers were not positioned correctly and created a lot of headaches trying to line everything up. While it's on the car the left tip sets lower than the right. I had to use a pry bar to pull the pipe over far enough to fit into the hanger. When the weather warms up it's coming off and will probably go with Magnaflow which was my first choice in the planning stage. 2017 GT.
For decades back in the old days everyone automatically thought that dual exhaust made more power on a V8/V6. When people actually began experimenting they learned that your basic single exhaust Y pipe worked best because there's a scavenging effect from one cylinder bank to the other. You just needed a large I.D. to allow the exhaust to escape with minimal restriction. Since dual exhaust was so popular they came up with H pipes to take advantage of the scavenging. They quickly realized that an X flowed better than an H and the X pipe was born. So, X & Y are pretty much the same. H is good for your pickup. Incidentally, a 3" single exhaust was one of the tricks cop cars used to use catch up to you from a dead stop when you were a teenanger doing 110 on the freeway.
Ken MacMillan this is facts I have a question tho what if on a single 3 inch you have a h pipe and a y pipe or a x pipe and y pipe is that better than just the y pipe?
Standard C6(2007) I have with LS2 I put Vararam Snake Charmer CAI, Long Tube headers from Hooker and complete Magnaflow performance series straight pipe running to the magnaflow quad tips and it sounds good through power band and nice cackle on deceleration. My C6 ZO6(2012 3ZR)I ran the Same Vararam CAI for the LS7 and left the factory exhaust with the dumps that can open and it also sounds pretty wicked. All a matter of preference. Their is no wrong answer if you, the owner is happy. I’ve always loved that distinct 5.0 sound on Flowmasters since high school days. A lot of great cars are being produced currently from all the “Big Three”.
Great vid. I'm currently running pypes x with cat delete, deleted resonators, and thrush welded mufflers. It has a really unique sound with no drone at all. I plan on getting the roush axle backs in the near future and having blankenship's tune it.
A general idea of cost: back in 2008 I had a 1982 Trans am that I dropped a 350 into with shorty hooker headers. I found an awesome guy at meinike who set me up with a custom duel exhaust. I bought glass packed mufflers and exhaust tips. Including the cost of those parts, the pipes, and labor it was about $800.
I drive a 2014, V8 Range Rover Sport Supercharged. I removed the mid muffler/resonator combo but left the stock mufflers in place and got good exhaust note but it's a slightly raspy for my taste, so I put an x-pipe in the middle. I lost all exhaust sound. It went quiet as my 7 series BMW. The muffler shop guy had no clue why that happened so I had it removed immediately. What's your guess?
Just too inform you the h pipe the connecting pipe that’s in the center is mostly blocked off with a 5/8th hole drilled though too allow some restrictions but allow pass through as well. Summit racing has a video showing what’s an h pipe looks like when you open it up
*Whats ur opinion on a 6 gen camaro ss . I dont know which kind of exhaust to get, I just want loud revs and crackles/pops. I dont want a loud idle and I dont want it sounding like an old muscle car, what would be best in ur opinion. I know straight pipe has pops but will it have diesel sounding idle? because I dont want that.*
I have the steeda H pipe with stock exhaust..i just bought the pypes pype-bomb Axle-Back exhausts..Hopefully it'll be deeper than stock, im going deep toned
I got a 14 s197 with roush axle back, thinking of getting an h pipe so I wont lose any torque. Hopefully if I get a intake with tune, I can gain the hp I sorta lost. N still keep all my torque.
You won’t lose any power from any of these. You will gain a very very small amount. An x pipe gains the most hp, h pipe gains the most torque (in terms of +2 hp vs + 1.5 hp and +1 tq vs + 1.5 tq)
Couple comments talking about a single exhaust being more than enough for 500 hp or so... show me the money. I'm nearly five decades deep into the car hobby and I've never seen an engine get good power from a single exhaust. Engineers put dual exhaust on performance cars, super cars, and all-out race cars for a reason.
Definitely get better gains with a single pipe of equal volume, it has better scavenging and less surface area resulting in faster smoother flow. Drag cars run singles. Sounds more "euro" and smooth than an X. If you think about it an X pipe at its center has less volume than the 2 pipes combined. It's a restriction that helps the pulse jump to the other bank but with a Y pipe you don't have that restriction and better mixing. Flowmaster scavenger Y is the best design I have seen.
how about a slightly wider straight pipe? not that you couldnt make every version slightly wider. i like the straight pipe sound best, i cant stand the x pipe sound, sounds like barfing to me
Hi HRU doing I really appreciate ya content on this issue of the exhaust system i would like ya opinion on this I have a 2014 camaro ss I had a resonator delete and secondary cat delete with a x pipe I like sound but I hate the drone sound and now my take off is not as strong in drive as it use to be is Tht normal or does horsepower decrease because of this I would appreciate any help on this Ty so much
I have 2019 challenger 392 scat pack with magnaflow catback, xpipe , its not deep enough. Im gonna go smaller mufflers. Would changing the xpipe make much difference in sound. I like mustangs with borla atak, saw a guy with it and bbk headers and sounded awesome
i am from uae and i like your idea soo i done my new project on my gmc sierra 2013 and i made x-pipe after the header on the down pipes and the sound hear more than modrate and it hear excellent mode 😍👌🏼 i will post it now
@@itsdeedee2178 oh come on. 98 4.6 f150 is the best sounding gas half ton there is with just pipe put in place of muffler. Still have factory cats. Look at my channel. I have a playlist. Videos of my f150.
I've got a 2012 BMW 550i xDrive w/ a 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8. It makes good power but sounds like a little girls electric moped... 🤣 I'm looking to replace the resonator with either an X-Pipe or straight pipes back to the stock valved mufflers, hoping that'll make it sound "meaner". I understand the X-Pipe would give it a less raspy, higher exhaust note than straight pipe back to the stock mufflers... Would it hurt power much to just go with straight pipes, or H-Pipe replacing the resonator to get that DEEP RASPY sound, or do I need to go with an X-Pipe to keep from losing power on a small, Twin-Turbo V8?
My LS1 gen 3 has a x-force exhaust system not shor on the price as the owner before me done it but left the stock exhaust manifolds so I will be changing them to headers don't understand why the previous owner did a half ass job as x-force exhaust are not cheap in New Zealand
I'm spending less than $1k on my C5 Corvette swapping out the H-pipe for and X-pipe and replacing the mufflers with Borla straight pipes. For all C5 owners who did replace the H-pipe, you know damn well why lol. No more deceleration jingle and choppy motorboat idle.
Don't get me wrong it sound good but my horse power seems as it's not as strong as it use 2 or maybe I'm tripping lol I really enjoyed this topic on exhaust ty
All of the numbers you listed for differences sound to be inside the margin of error for most Dynos so that to me means it’s just personal preference and one of it makes much difference.
Of course, nobody tested Y-pipes. Because most Y-pipes are factory units for a v-engine going single exit, but they're small and restrictive, so people think they're bad for performance. Well, if you properly sized a y-pipe (two 2.5 into a single 3.5 is a good example) it would be capable of flowing properly for about a 500hp engine. And then, on the tail end, if you wanted dual exit, you could split that back into two 2.5 pipes and run whatever tips.
What would you think i should do to my mercedes s350? I want it to sound like a lion that roaring sound. I don't like loud gunshots. What exhaust mod should i do?
@@andreaskleopa Equal length headers (short or long, doesn't matter) using 2.5 inch collectors, with high flow cats, put those into a 3.5 inch Y-pipe all the way back to the axle, then split it back to two 2.5 inch pipes if you care about having an exhaust that looks like duals or just leave it as a single if you're okay with that. This will give an exotic and race-like sound. Alternatively, if you want a deeper sound, don't run the headers into a Y-pipe, instead do dual 2.5 inch all the way back with a "narrow" H pipe. Narrow means the actual H is short and the dual pipes are close together, not that the H section is a smaller diameter. You want that H to also be 2.5 inch. Other than that, run the rest the same. Straight-throughs are moderately loud, and turbo-style mufflers are moderately quiet but more audible than stock. Round mufflers/"Glasspacks"/Race bullets are extra loud, but still take a bit of bite out compared to a legit straight pipe which is the loudest. Either way, if you're using aftermarket headers AND high flow cats, even turbo-style mufflers on the end will be noticably louder than stock, but still fine for a daily/the GF shouldn't complain. If you want active mufflers, use a Varex X-force or google search for something else. Varex is as quiet as stock when closed and almost as loud as race bullets when open. I recommend 409 or 304 stainless, but either way, you'll have to take it to a specialized shop with a TIG welder for them to be able to weld it, otherwise they'll F you over like they did my brother and put a bunch of cheap, shitty, aluminized tubing in there instead. Which will rust out within 3-5 years depending on your climate and whether your area salts the roads for winter or not. (and whether you drive the car when the road is salted, of course) The gunshots (or lack thereof) come from your engine computer being custom tuned. The stock tune shouldn't do it except a little bit on deceleration. Good luck making your car sound cool.
@@Drunken_Hamster one last question. My car is stock it puts out 260hp i think its a 3.0L twin turbo V6 its a 2012 mercedes s350. I didn't tune it or something but i just want it sound a bit more sporty i want to hear that deep roar sound. Should i tune it or is it possible to get that sound without a tune?
Great information. My preference is the X because there is so much science behind it. ( Venturi Effect on exhaust scavenging ) One thing that you didn't mention about straight pipes is that they can be ideal when clearance is an issue, I.e. modified suspension or radically lowered.
There will be no noticeable difference between the 3 except a tiny sound change. Factory 2 into 1 functions as an X. If you want your cammed engine to sound radical as possible use no crossover. Exhaust is all about sound preference no need to look for power there.
My only concern is that a single pipe can not flow as much as duals up top. Down low torque may be up, but I dont see the single pipe handling 500+ hp and up, in the rpm range of, let's say, 5500 and up.
