X-Plane 12 feels a little rushed. It just looks like a graphic overhaul. As of right now X-Plane 12 needs a lot of addons to look good. I hope In the future with addons X-Plane 12 can start to compare to the beauty of MSFS.
Wish we had a combo of both. I will use both anyway . I like the flight model better in XP12 especially the adverse yaw movement that is more closer to reality.
Even if we pull MSFS out of the equation and judge X-Plane 12 on its own merits, I’m struggling to see the justification behind the $60 price when it cursorily looks identical to X-Plane 11.

@@benos4x4adventures49 maybe more 11.8, it is inquestionable that massive improvements have been made, but everyone can tell its essentially the same sim upgraded. plus 11.55 is a thing :D
Compared To The Problems With MSFS 1) Not Available In Mac 2) Physics Engine 3) More Computer Specs Required Even Though I can Play on x box cloud it will require a controller and I can't use honeycomb yoke
The UI still feels old. The thing that bothers me the most and one of the things I love the most in MSFS is the world map where you can see all the airports and calculate from there your route depending on the time you want to spend flying. Aside from the lighting which is marginally better, the graphics overall don't seem like a big upgrade from xp11
they said they like the simple ui and its a bit of a "if it aint broke dont fix it" type of situation, also regarding graphics in general they said its not a top priority but will improve the ground scenery throughout xplane 12's lifetime.
@@jacksonsoto5308 Why? Graphics don't matter much when you're in the air, which is what I usually do in my flight simulators. As long as the plane looks good and the scenery looks acceptable, I'm happy.
@@jacksonsoto5308 they’re not competing with Microsoft flight simulator, they have better aircraft physics and models, which is way more important than graphics in a flight simulator
The big problem here is that MSFS was released and it set the standard too high. Like blackberry and iphone. It is hard to compare anymore. I understand people say physics in xplane is better but at the end of the day both of them will never hit the spot. When i was getting my private rating. I was doing perfect landing on the simulator. When it was my turn to flight in real life damn those feet were hurting from so much rudders to keep the damn c172 on centerline. It was a different monster. I do not see much different at the end to the point to give up msfs scenary. Autogen is ok but they need to improve the graphics the same way they did the trees.
True.XP would have been Blackberry and MSFS would have been IPhone. It was always and uphill battle for Blackberry when the IPhone was released, Blackberry has to contend with new and more advanced technology in the IPhone.
It’s still in beta ffs. It’s just always the same. When msfs was in beta, p3d and xplane users couldn’t wait to dogpile. Now that xplane 12 is in beta, msfs users can wait to dogpile either.
Already bought it, quite happy with it, I wished the F-14D was more detailed though, and I hope someone makes a mod for the A330 with the same quality as the Zibo 737.
@@hpharold23 come on, it really doesn’t take much research to see that the 737 fmc is there as a placeholder during the beta while they continue to develop the full fmgs system, do better.

How come that everyone just acts like this is such an awesome sim? I don't want to offend anybody by any means but I just find it sad to see them release a Sim with such a poor graphics quality and general lack of features in 2022 and call it a competitor to MSFS... Sure MSFS physics aren't quite there yet but with Flight physics improving further and further + all of the awesome study level planes + The level of detail all around the globe because of cloud streaming + Volumetric clouds that can only be semi matched by DCS, you sadly just can't call X-Plane a good competitor in the year 2022. I mean just forget it. And all of the praising aside about how much the graphics of XP12 improved over XP11: Yeah sure it did improve but that is not changing the fact that it still looks like a bad game from 2010 xD How come that everyone just unsees this, I mean you can't be serious to release something of this quality in 2022... Feel like people are just hyping this sim up for nostalgia sake... That's just my feeling about it, how do you feel? Am I missing something?
Well said... People complain a lot about msfs bugs, but that normal when you're on the cutting edge of technology. When you're polishing an old engine like xplane, you will always have a more stable platform. Developer tools is another aspects. Its so much easier to developers for msfs, and that reflects in add on price, and amount of add ons available.
Honestly I tried MSFS, I really tried to like it.. but I get 3 times more frames per second in vr with xplane 12 then msfs. MSFS is over vibrant, almost cartoonish. They really nailed the lighting in xp 12..
If MSFS didn’t exist, or if X-Plane 12 released two years ago, you wouldn’t say this is 2010 quality. MSFS is just setting the bar incredibly high with graphics, and they can because they own Bing and all of that.
It’s not meant to be a competitor to MSFS. The whole point of X-Plane is to have really really good flight physics, environmental physics and systems simulation depth. The scenery that you see out of the window is just an accessory. X-Plane markets itself to serious flight simmers and pilot training establishments. And those markets only care about the aspects I mentioned before. It’s no coincidence that most professional pilot training simulators run X-Plane. MSFS on the other hand doesn’t aim to please those markets. They are more aimed for the casual simmers or just people looking to try a new game. Sure, the scenery and graphics are awesome, but for serious applications and purposes, it doesn’t cut it.
Bravo 👏 I agree with you. I really think people need to stop acting like this is the new slice bread. Look, MSFS put the bar at the edge of the universe. Laminar aint going to reach that. They dont have the budgeting. They really need to focus on mobile phone simulation and making study level planes. I am willing to be that with time, Laminar will find itself the way of Sega. No one is going to want to spend hundreds/thousands of dollars trying to get Xplane to look like what MSFS looks like out the box.
@@SoupGuyy keep beating the dead horse on the physics discussion. As a CA for United Airlines with a type rating for A319/320 737 757/767. Xplane physics are nothing special.. Xplane 12 finally caught up to MSFS 2004
i've only used msfs since 98 and never understood why lot's of people where so convinced about x-plane being superior. Tried the Demo today and still don't get it. Low res textures, bad aliasing, bad texture filtering. I don't even care about there's no satelite images. It would still look terrible. The flight model might be 'superior' to msfs according to Austin, but after flying around a bit in the default c172 i think it's just complete nonsense. Both sims have their shortcommings, But it looks like x-plane has the most of them. For me atleast. Still both don't come close to flying irl though.
@@sesgow that is true, the default airliners aren't any good in msfs. But this doesn't mean the entire capabilities of the sim are bad. As pmdg has shown with the 737.
The flight model feels better. I agree that MSFS graphics are important, but it seems that's most of what you care about. Other people have different priorities. It's nothing to be "baffled" by or call "nonsense"... everyone can have their own likes and dislikes, this isn't comparing friggin' arcade fighting games. Calm down.
Not even close to MSFS20... sorry but it still looks like a 2010 game.... it doesn't matter how deep the simulation is.... Flying is also about visuals, graphics and scenery. In terms of simulation, MSFS20 is also getting close to study level with payware addons as well as some freeware.
Even the addon planes don't realistically represent how the plane really flies though. Msfs graphics are good, but the whole "flight simulator" aspect is sluggish.
Hmm. This seems rushed. If you didn’t tell me this was XP12, I would have a hard time figuring it out. Only the the trees, clouds, and water changed. It just seems like modded XP11. Looks nice though, but for some reason I think I like XP11 more than this, I don’t know why. Maybe because I had higher expectations. I’m gonna stick with MSFS just because of how quick the updates are.
"Fremdschämen" is the german word if you feel very ashamed for someone else, in this case Laminar Research. Clouds, puddles, ice, everything looks a little weird. Ground textures are horrible. No satellite scenery. The only thing speaking for XP are the flight phyics which are really good. I don't know. I am a big XP 11 fan but XP 12 is not enough to justify 60 $.
Bought it because I got excited by the PR....then I realized it looks and feels exactly like 11....the puddles are aweful, the physics stink let alone collision triggers...(flew through a Boeing and terminal before it triggerd a smoking effect). The lessons are the exact same as in 11 and here I was lead to believe that it would be a new and exciting thing....very disappointed....
After playing xplane 11 and switching to Msfs2020 it feels like flying in gta but I really miss the b737 xplane has. It felt like a real plane, it was extremely fps friendly and I truely miss the realism of the way the plane flys and feels that xplane gave me. I remember when outa no where they updated that vuelcan thing and it gave me 20fps so I really felt like the developers were with me unlike microsoft where they expect us to have high end system or your dead
I don't know what it is... but for some reason i still view msfs2020 as more realistic, i mean don't get me wrong it looks amazing and all but i just don't know what's letting it down...
Does anyone know if x-plane 11 or 12 has like a noob mode? I am new to aviation so starting a plane is like trying to speak chinese🙂 I am thinking like in msfs that it already spawnes you on the runway and you are ready to fly.
I love both flight simulators, but FS2020 clearly is way better in graphics and entertainment, I don't see the superiority of x-plane, It's a good flight simulator but it still doesn't beat fs2020 in a lot of things, I feel like in xp12 the developers really just spend more time on the graphics and surroundings of the map more then actually fixing some of their freeware planes. I have flown the c172 before and the handling of the aircraft felt way different then fs and x-plane, and based on what I saw in your video x-plane kind of just looked the same but with upgraded shaders and a higher budget to develop. The hype of the flight simulator is overrated, but the same goes for fs2020. Still good flight simulators tho.
i fly the 172 in real life and the msfs plane behaves much more like the real aircraft then xplane with the default, but the 172 addon for xplane is true to life and it’s great
I feel like this is also because MSFS has a reputation from 2020 because in 2020 their plane physics weren't good at all.. I still love XPlane but MSFS is definitely a contender soon, just have to give them some time though.@@Deltaexe190
Very mixed feelings here. I have 2600 hours in XP 11 and bought XP 12. Installed my Toliss A321. Depending on the weather, really bad performance and stuttering. Flight Factor does not work at all. Zibo works, but some things like wipers dont. Orthos work but they show the "old" trees. I have enough of XP 12, I will use MSFS for the next weeks. XP 12 is underwhelming and unfinished.
I think xp 12 will best that Msfs2020 bit it not Xp 12 need more work And msfs2020 Need crash animation And xp 12 crash look like joke He crash aircraft nose but wing come out ?
Im actually starting to get into the flight simmer stuff and im really excited to try some of the stuff out. I think im just gonna start with msfs and work my way through there.
Unfortunately, I think its a shame that the developers dare to release such an unfinished game. In times where we have the access to a game like MSFS, this is just not a threatening competetitor, more a parody of it. I can understand people that they rely on 100% perfectly accurate physics, but who can actually proof that MSFS´s physics in payware addons like the FENIX are so much worse? And we can say that most of us will not be flying any of these planes in real life, so we will not be abled to make an own experience to compare- that we have to leave to the professionals. And again, if you still prefer the 1000% proper physics of an airplane, there are still opportunites to get your hands on, like P3D, which is of course used in real life simulators of proper airlines aswell. I did play XP11 for a long time, too. But this rather minor enhancement of a game, that already exists, is too weak. So, my question is: Why releasing such a game if we already have both, the visuals and absolutely sufficient flight physics for a normal all- day life sim- pilot? And a hardcore simulation like P3D if people want to dive into it. Why holding on to a legacy that desperately tries to maintain its existence, while the game barely outperforms the predecessor, neither any of its competition. I think it quite embarrissing and relying on add ons is the wrong approach to a freshly released game. I hoped that we could see more than that, because this is just a poor misfire. Regards
I didn't know it was already out lmao 😅 so is it like huge added improvements from x-plane 11,or it's like litteraly a entire newly made simulator??🤔 either way it looks....worse than expected tbh,If I had x-plane 11 I wouldn't buy the 12 just stick with the 11😕 like no ENORMOUS changes that I can notice. Well ok the planes definitely look better hats off to that🤗😎👍💙 the tire smoke is ugly af but just ignore that lol😐
Still, pmdg has wierd hyoids on landing and takeoff and they are not good with faliures. Overall the zibo or toliss is more realistic. Maybe do more reasherch into it buddy
Just cause everyone is calling pmdg and Fenix “study level” it isn’t the most realistic. If you do an engine failure after takeoff you can’t climb that much in the Fenix and pmdg. There is also no wethear radar and phonetic system of the cabin and fuel flow.
XP12 looks like slightly improve from XP11 with a price tag and bunch of bugs!! Performance is worse. A330 being featured has 737 FMC!!, What a load of crap! being on EA doesn't excuse it from criticism. I hope XP12 can better compete with msfs though, competition is always a good thing. Alot of this BS claims about flight physics is better than on XP... Wonder what qualifies? It feels on on-rail scripted for sure for on XP, Weather, wind, drag, airport elevation and air density don't matter much on XP as it feels scripted with not much simulation at all. Just letting you know that “animation” is to make 3d stuff move aka animated. When you talk about the body of a plane or… the… Empire State for example, it’s a 3d model, but has NOTHING to do with 3d animation.
X-plane 12 is really good even without satellite scenery, especially the ATC and the animated jetways. A lot of people (from what I’ve seen) forget this is still not the final release and is in alpha
@@aviay msfs ATC is horrendous it’s no better than Xplane 11 ATC and not everyone wants to fly on vatsim or pilot edge. I love flying on vatsim but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. 12 is a huge update to that
Its all nice and all, but there is literally no reason (for me atleast) to invest in Xplane 12 while we have MSFS. Competition is always welcome but they are far behind MSFS atm.
msfs graphics are way too realistic, it’s so realistic it’s not real life. Their physics are also trash. The FAA has approved X-Plane for IFR flying training and other training.
@@xepic_c7901 most of the people that play theese simulator about 90-95% will never fly in rl because of the cost so it doesnt really matter, but at the end of the day its your own preferance
@@xepic_c7901 and what about the xplane is FAA approved? do you know you need more than xplane right. What about the hardware? without it means nothing.
Tbh I can’t see myself playing this sim right now with having a very nicely modded and much much improved version of msfs right now, who knows maybe I’ll get it in the future when more detailed aircraft are made for the sim
My opinion: Xplane had a good run while Microsoft was out of the flight sim game... But now it's in a losing battle against the big boys If your into serious flight simming with an accurate flight model or virtual flight training go with Xplane If your a casual flight simmer who values visuals and sightseeing go with FS Simple as that If your just getting into flight simming regardless of what simulator you use we welcome you it's a fun hobby Five years ago I never even messed with one and now it's one of the things I enjoy
The reason I choose XP12 over MSFS is simply that MSFS needs a PhD to even run. IT crashes it has so many bugs and is unmaintained. I raged and bought xplane as their devs seem to care at least
I bought it, wanted to see what Xplane was like. Super happy with it tbh. The local airport I ujsed to work at is spot on to the real thing, and it isn't even a big airport.
