Here is a print Comparison between the X-T5 vs GFX 100s at 100 ISO and 8000 ISO. For the GFX 100s, I used the Sigma EF 105mm @ 1.4 and for the X-T5 I used the Fujifilm 56mm WR @f1.2. These two fields of view were very similar if not almost identical.
Watch the video to find out how the X-T5 compares to the GFX when it comes to image quality and high ISO

Well done! Very informative, no nonsense comparison. I will say, portraits tend to be 'easier' subjects for lower MP cameras to compete. Landscape images in which details in the distance (foliage on a distant mountainside, etc.) is where I see my X-T5 struggle vs my GFX-100. But with a good lens, the X-T5 does brilliantly at objects close to the camera, even in the fine detail. Thanks for posting this comparison - obviously a lot of time, effort, and expense involved.

Thank so much for this comparison. I wish that more “ image quantity “ comparisons would be based on prints. IMHO, the gold standard would be to take comparable images with whatever camera/lens setups are under consideration, make good quality largish prints (17x23, A2 ), with minor corrections as appropriate, then present this finished prints - unmarked - to one or more “objective” evaluators. This would help eliminate a lot of the confirmation bias that that seems to be behind much of what you seem on RU-vid

Thank you very much for the video, only recently I came across you, it’s informative, and yet it’s so difficult to choose which camera will be the best now, with its ergonomics, optics park, and I also prefer to take pictures in the dark, and I can’t decide, because there is a temptation to buy x-t

I own both and i agree with you.....but the GFX though has more information and better tonal passages if the raw files are converted properly ( x-transformer in my opinion ...). Its not always abut sharpness. Btw.....i find the GF 110MM f2 A better lens than the Sigma 105 art for that sensor. Anyways a great test. Kudos.

Awesome video. Really appreciate the work and personal expense you put in. Its obvious the GFX produces a better digital image, but the XT5 holds up almost shockingly well. I currently have been too busy accumulating photos to do much printing, but would like to make some albums this year with much larger prints if I can find the time. Clearly I can push the ISOs if need be - might make the digital files seem worse but the prints will likely look great. I have an XT3+56mm f/1.2 WR and that is an amazing lens for sure that I use as often as I can. Very sharp, very punchy. The newer Fuji glass I've bought or tried lately has in general been outstanding in terms of overall performance. You make me think I could rather fearlessly shoot at ISO 6400 and beyond if the goal is to print. I should say that other of Fuji's lenses aren't quite as forgiving in low light, they can get a bit mushy or maybe I just miss focus more often. I have to say that I might still avoid the 40mp sensor someday as it is the file sizes that get me. Hard to keep up with the processing / hard drive space demands. As it is the LR "enhance" feature makes 95MB files out of the XT3's raws. That means I have to use it judiciously. Still, its nuts what you can do.

Finally a wonderful comparison !! I do have one request that no one RU-vid has ever done to my knowledge, would you consider doing a Comparison shoot out using the GFX Vs X-T5, BUT- you would use the build In PixelShift mode (160MP) built X-T5 vs the stock GFX camera? Would love to see if truly the picture of the XT5 can keep up with that GFX. That would be amazing !!

Thoughts on the 50sii? Image quality, iso test? May I ask if you at all considered the 50sii before the 100s?

The GFX 50s II has a great sensor but the Auto Focus is much worse than the 100s. Was too frustrating watching it hunt for focus.

If you do landscape or product and do not need the 100MP for cropping the 50sii is perfectly fine. I did shoot children pictures on the 50s and 50sii in daylight but you will have many missed shots. Also, forget about CAF ;-)

Ely , your reviews. Really "Peaks" my interest . In comparison the Fuji GFX100S , and the Fuji XT5 . My mind want to factoring in your choices of lenses . And would it had made a difference difference ? If you had adopted both cameras with the Sigma 105 ? In or out of your Studio ? Would this had made a significance Comparison ? Your thoughts . Thanks ! ...Curtis

I Own the 105mm for the GFX system so I used the 56mm 1.2 because it was the same field of view or perspective. It seemed like the closest comparison. I use the 105mm on most every shoot from Headshots, to families, to weddings.

Thank you for the awesome comparison. That’s extremely impressive a 40mpx crop sensor can even achieve anything at 8000 iso, having the XH2s and XT4 I considering if its worth acquiring and Xt5 or XH2, i do prefer the button dial layout of the XH models especially the custom settings.

@@ThePhotographerGuy Yes the latest Firmware has that option now along with other options, I set the iso with the rear D Pad up/down, but I know what you mean, the older firmware I couldn't have Manual mode & Auto ISO with rear dial exposure comp and front dial Shutter, that was another strange thing, but now that's also sorted, Fuji is listening.

With Lightroom, you can select background which would've chosen the background of the model and just reduce clarity texture, and then slide the noise reduction to about 25% and that's actually a better way to reduce noise is reduce clarity, sharpening, and grain instead of just pushing the noise reduction higher and higher, because that makes the background looks soft and mushy and unrealistic. That's a technique I've been using with the XT5 because in low light it's not as good
@ThePhotographerGuy

for sure. Lr has been on a consistent up date basis. It's pretty rad what they are coming up with.

I own an XT5 and I've only XT5 for six months or so. Doing lots of landscape work and I'm blown away by the printing. I do a lot of larger printing as well. I've printed up to 2 m x 1 m with the FujifilmXT5 and it's blowing me away. It is so good. Yeah it's a 40 megapixel crop sense camera it shouldn't do that but it does. It's a fantastic camera in the right hands

Great comparision. It basically shows that at low and medium ISOs, the X- cameras with excellent lenses like the new 23, 33 and 56mm are excellent, good enough for virtually every use case. At really high ISOs like 8000, the difference becomes more apparent, the Gfx sensor is almost precisely 4x larger than the X sensor. But with the new intelligent NR and sharpness tools even that difference tends to blur. I as a non pro cannot justify the high price of a GF system, let alone the bulk and weight.

Great video - new subscriber. What I'd be interested to see, if you are willing to oblige, is a test using those two cameras with the same lens - with standardized settings out of camera, or in post. I think digital files would be just fine. No need to print. 1. Photograph a subject with the GFX. For example, 4 feet from camera. 2. Using same lens on XT5, also 4 feet from camera. 3. Using same lens on XT5, set to 4:3 aspect ratio, step further away until you can frame the image the same as you would for pic #1. Then look at the image area shared in common between 1 & 2. Compare characteristics of what each camera captured using the same lens at the same distance. The GFX file would essentially be cropped. Next, compare 1 & 3 to see what you get shooting the same composition using the different cameras and same lens. I'm curious to see how detail and color compare with the lens being a fixed variable. That aside, I think both prints are perfectly usable. I prefer medium format over APS-C (and FF) because I get more "real estate" using the same lens. I can fit more on a MF sensor without having to shoot wider and without having to step away from the subject.

the reality is that the GFX 100s autofocus is less accurate up close. This part of the test was just to see how the files compare what shot at high ISO and what Lightroom's noise reduction does to help the X-T5.
