I just picked this guy up at a toy show last weekend. Not only did I like the way the figure looks, I'm a sucker for accessories. Still haven't opened him yet, but I'm glad to hear he's quality. Thanks!
No need for a VS until Fans Toys releases v2, which actually has a chance of competing with Neptune. The one thing FT v1 has going for it is the blue is the correct G1 color.
I just discovered that the translucent blue water effects can also clip into the bottom of his feet in robot mode! Great figure maybe my favourite XTB toy yet.
Finally dipping my toes in the mini-bot water. Got the powerglide, which I really like. Some others like brawn are pretty expensive on the secondary "late tax" market. I think I'm in on this guy, so to speak.
Did you manage to get a powerglide with or without the gap in plane mode? Presuming you are talking about the dx09 one. If im being honest thats the only mp style purchase ive been dissapointed by. I got the one with the gap though and Of the 30 or something mp figures I own its the only one who doesnt transform perfectly :(. Its the only one I leave permanently in botmode. And I buy my transformers to regularly flip between modes. I havent been in the mp game for that long though (only a couple years) I wish I wasnt so petty hahahah If it didnt have the gap it'd be goddamn perfect to me.
@@ApenBaard yeah, the richthofen? I think thats how its spelled. He came in robot mode. Haven't transformed him yet but I was reading about this gap. I think this is from the second run so hopefully that's not an issue. I've been pretty patient so some stuff I've purchased is usually well after initial release. Like with my tf-element prime. Second release came with a much better prime head.
Yes please to the versus episode and solid review! Definitely interested in what you have to say about them; I'm replacing the FT with the XTB unit (and have both in hand currently), which I rarely do.
This was actually my first Xtransbots purchase, this and their Scourge have been the only releases that were must-have figures for me. I'm still waiting for my Scourge though. But, I was really impressed with figure. I personally think it dominates all other options available at the moment. I was considering the original FT version, until this one was announced. So I would definitely watch the Vs. video if it drops.
This popped up on Ebay may months ago during a ten dollar off sale, so even though I had no desire to have a sea spray, I got him for 47 dollars. I like that they made the thin flap onhis foot diecast. That would break it it were plastic. Sub $50 seems like the perfect price for minibots, but ravage is still selling for 70-90. I have to go with what Bobby says. It's worth what you're willing to pay for it.
Yes on the vs.... Initial thoughts are that it is better aesthetically than the FT 1.0 but probably not as good as the FT 2.0 which is the one I'll be waiting for, hopefully coming in 2024.... I say 2024, because everyone on the internet says FT is slow with their releases. And we know everything on the internet is true. Just like I'm a French model, "bone-jur'......
I just keep the shoulders back in the original positions and I think it looks and works better - matches how his shoulders are slouched in the toon as well.
Definitely a great step in the right direction for XT that makes me happy to have more options. Mine is on the way and now I’m more impatient. Great review! I’d love a sit down Saturday comparison, I’ve got the FT V1 and love it, but recognize it is just not accurate, its better then the toon model I think, but that super toon look sings a sirens song lol
I think this is the Seaspray for me, probly gona drop the money on it next paycheck :D The metalic paint makes me think about the g2 version more than the g1/cartoon
I’m not in a hurry for this character but the XTB version is my choice. Just waiting for the G1 non-Metallic (I don’t have a problem with the Metallic I just try to keep the aesthetic as toon as possible colour wise).
Oh yeah! This is an outrage! Bobby, on Smackdown Saturday the fans expect a call from the real Seaspray to arbitrate. Don't forget the little people--by which I mean mini bots--who supported you on the come up just cuz you're big time now! LOL.
Really scarey when you're not seeing Dx9 , Maketoys and Badcube almost non existent. I hope Xtb doesn't get swallowed by the black hole aswell they make great products for the most part.
Man this guy looks dam good! I have the FT v1 and hes a fun little bot but I think xtb beat them this round. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it so please do that VS. episode, I think I'd be interesting. Ultimately, as tempted as I am to grab this guy, I think I'm waiting for FT v2 (even though I'm a little pissed they're doing a v2 so soon). Thx man, keep doin what ya do!
Looks good, props to them for that. I will be sticking with the FT one, but thats purely because I always hated the way seaspray looked in the cartoon, the heroic look FT gave their v1 speaks to me more. Speaking of, I'd be happy to see the vs but I think you'd also need to address this FT v2 they've announced as well.
I'd like to see toyworlds seaspray in the vs vid too as I thought that was quite good for what it was Also echo the people calling for spindrift 2.0 to feature if only on first impressions
I know it is stupid, but the blue translucent parts on the torso for both the XTB version and the TW one are a deal breaker, they just look really bad to me. I don't normally have issues with them, I don't know why it is bothering me on these Seasprays. I also don't like the piece on the chest for XTB is rotated, I would probably prefer it if it was left in the position it was in for alt mode, but I've never seen anyone do that so I can't be sure.
I feel lile the vs would be best once fanstoys releases their V2 since both would be as similar as they could possibly be, but up to you since who knows when their seaspray V2 will comes out
Good review, man! I'm not feeling this figure. It looks silly and really lanky, which comes from them going with the toon look. I like what FT did with did with the character with Spindrift 1.0 and 2.0. They gave the character a more modern/mature look while still keeping the essence of the who Seaspray is, especially with 2.0.
I think a discussion would be good, but an actual Vs. video isn't worth the effort. I love the Vs. videos but there is a lot of time between these releases, and while they compete with one another, there is also the Fans Toys 2.0 on the way. That's why I say discussion, because that extra element is there too
