Found this channel a week ago, and I must say this is one of the best welding channels I have seen here on the Tube! Really like your MIG/MAG videos. Most channels are about TIG, and rarely any videos from real work, on site. I'm a welder myself, and I find it very interesting to see how other welders work, tips and tricks, what tools used, and so on. Cheers from Åland Islands, Finland!
I've been watching your TIG videos, and have a few things on my mind. When you purge, flow for a while with high volume, but when you start to weld, take it down to almost nothing. Just keep some overpressure in the pipe. I would say 0,5-1 l/min. A high pressure disturb the weld pool, and if you have tight seals it can even shoot a blow out in the end of the weld. Gas flow at the torch when you weld, 4-8 l/min. Higher flow rates can create turbulence. Make sure yo don't have any draught at your workspace. And about colors, it's a hype! I've been welding får 30+ years, and back in the days nobody cared about weldporn colors... A little bit of oxidation, no problem, it will pass any test. Usually the pickling bath take care of it. I will get some hard time for this, but... :-)
Argon is a good purging gas, but not the best! The lowest level of oxidation are obtained using a backing gas that is a mixture of 90% Nitrogen and 10% of Hydrogen, a so called Formier gas.
Yeah! I had to laugh when you tacked the Taft end on without placing the backing flange😂 Been there, done that a hundred times, as you will no doubt, in the years to come. Great vids man, keep up the good work 😎
Thanks for the video. I am inspired to keep working towards a career in welding. I'm practicing with my everlast at home and hope to get in some classes.
Nice video. Just learn to feed the rod though your fingers at an even pace, Best way is take a half length of 3.2 mm wire home and feed it though your fingers when watching TV. In the end nearly all manual welding is about muscle memory. Keep the videos coming.
Couple of special class Philippino welders told me to practice with a bit of uncooked pasta whilst at home if U can feed it fit without breaking it will be great practice
Great video as normal mate I’m really getting to the tig 1’s and that face said a thousand words lol and see your a fronius man through and through.please keep them coming 👍👍👍
Nice clean video mate 🙏 Question.. so you make this pipework... do you actually Pressure test it before it goes out the door ?.. How .. I’m a plumber and know the implications of leaks 😂 I’m curious as I’ve start tig welding a year ago and find now and again ... there’s a weep 🤦♂️
hey mate your vids are awsome , you are a very skilled fitter welder . do you do any stick welding on pipe? would be great to see some vids on rolled out pipe with 6013's
Can you show how you stop/start, as well as prevent holes? My foreman used to teach me to pull the welding puddle away from the weld and stop on the side. What are your thoughts on this?
Nitrogen can only be used with austenitic stainless steels, while argon can be used for all types. Argon is more expensive, so using it where it's not needed is waste of money, I think.
