He is my favorite casting besides Hugh.. but he hated his experience with makeup.. and hes aged alot more for a character so agile like nightcrawler. You seen the show traitors.. i cant see that Cumming coming back lol
Rebecca Romjin is still the best Mystique. Perfect casting. The confidence in her body language, how she could carry herself wearing little more than body paint, was always on point.
She's a trooper. It's a lot of work for the scenes where she's blue, but I think they could have gone with her classic white costume to save Rebecca sooo much time in the chair. It always felt kinda pervy to have her be entirely naked all the time when she wears clothes in the comics 😅
She’s the MVP of the movies in terms of being constantly in the field talking on different missions. A real special ops mutant. She got no rest from the first movie - no downtime. She was in deep cover in government and military from the first movie till the last.
I doubt she's actually dead, technically. I mean, she is, but if enough of the excess adamantium in her body was removed, I bet she'd come back to life.
@@Tantalus010 Maybe, but if Logan is canon to this continuity, then the adamantium is poison to them, and will eventually overpower her healing factor. If she's endlessly drowning while filled to the brim with that stuff, she probably won't last very long anyways as the combination of both things will tax out her healing and kill her.
@@theawesomeman9821 Originally Nightcrawler was gonna appear in X-Men: The Last Stand, but the make up effects didn’t make the budget. Filmmakers ended up removing the character.
That moment that you both started dancing to Cyclops's music had me weak. It's messed up because they do Cyclops dirty in these movies. I remember in the theater, the entire crowd erupted with laughter at the moment. The scene with Mystic and Night crawler is a deep cut for the fans. In the comics, she is his mother. It's a real shame that wasn't explored in later movies.
21:51 I'm not going to lie this is that cool I was going to say so the fact that Christian was trying to ship nightcrawler and mystique was already making me uncomfortable because nightcrawl is mystique's son
Yeah, but if you don't know that, it's an innocent mistake. Some people just see that they're both blue and don't really put 2 and 2 together. Plus, they look like they're the same age in these movies, so it isn't very intuitive
For Kristen: Hugh Jackman told a story in an interview about doing a stage play where he played a bi character. When the story got to the place where he was supposed to kiss another man, as he leaned in a teenage guy's voice yelled from the audience "DON'T DO IT WOLVERINE ! ! !" 🤣🤣🤣
The irony being that in the original run of X-Men comics--despite being very different people--they became really good friends. One wonder if this franchise could have eventually showed that, but it wasn't to be.
Lol well I’ll say it for them, he’s bad 😂 he’s a chump in these films. From his introduction to his death…total simp and wussy. And before anyone replies with the obvious, I know it’s because the writers wanted to place the focus more on Hugh/Logan.
@@EverydayWithBobby they could have made him a bad ass and still sideline him ,but they choose to make him all of the above you've mentioned. They could have written him like they wrote rody in iron man , dinjarin in madalorian , han solo or Luke Skywalker. Or like any other strong side character but they made him yukky
31:30 Yeah, this is Yuriko Oyama, aka Lady Deathstrike! One of Wolverine's villians! In the comics, she's definitely not a mutant. She's a cyborg. She was also Wolverine'a ex fiance which is also sad because Wolverine really loved her. 😔🙏🏽
beautiful woman, and she only looks good in Star Trek because she's had plastic surgery done, and isn't one of the ladies that totally messed herself up doing such bodywork. She really doesn't look the same, but she isn't a plastic surgery monster like many other actresses turn themselves into.
In the comics Mystic and wolverine shared a past together as both of them are immortal and they were also once lovers. Lady Deathstrike was also a former lover of Logan his fiance in fact. The movies missed a huge opportunity in not alluding to that and going into their past.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard Kristin swear, so that ending was phenomenal😂😂 also, we know achara has seen these movies, but this is one of those times that that’s ok, I love this pair off, and I hope cinepals keeps this throughout the franchise, we’re only two movies in but it’s been so fun watching them with these two!
Achara now knows what it feels like to us when we watch reaction videos. I knew she knew what was coming while Kristen was getting worked up during the tent scene. Initially I didn’t like watching videos where one person has seen the movie while the other hasn’t. Then it clicked that they were in our position.
Nightcrawler grabbing Rogue straight out of freefall was soooooo sick first time I saw it, wooooooo!!! 😳🔥👊🏻 more I watch these again, I appreciate how damn good they were!!! CLASSIC!!
Kristen it is based off of racism. This was created during the 60's during the civil rights movement. In Stan lee interviews he talks how he patterned Professor X, & Magneto off of Martin Luther king, & Malcolm X, & wanted to make a statement about what was going on in the culture at the time. Marvel Comics always relected what was going on at the time.I grew up in the 70's, & collected these comics from then to now.
Most of that has been debunked. Now you could argue that the X-Men mythos is an allegory for racism and prejudice, but Stan Lee did not base Professor X off of MLK, nor did he base Magneto off of Malcolm X, and the similarities between X-Men and the civil rights movement are purely a coincidence.
It says something about our society that the "good" characters are considered "weak", but it also speaks for how good the comics are written that the "villains" are so compelling.
Overly Sarcastic Productions has a really good taking down of the super dark antihero who doesn't have any qualms about murder and can get the job done without morals. It's kinda the reason I didn't like Black Adam that much.
The thing most people, including myself don't get in the first time seing this movie is why Jean sacrifice herself. Why se didn't do all that inside the Jet? Thats because she's afraid. In the begining of the movie, during Scott and Jean's converstion at the museum, it was said that her powers had grown and tha she was diferent after the battle in the last movie, with Jean saying that she's afraid that something terrible gonna happend. There's a deleted scene in the extende cut that we see her drifiting away during the flight and starts controling the Jet changing it's course without even realising she's doing it. She has the glowing eyes and a look of joy on her face by realising the growth of her powers, scaring the others and herself. When Jean snaps out of it, she looks away in shame. That's why she do it. Because she knew her powers where growing beyond her control and she was afraid of what she could become and that it would hurt her friends.
The tragedy is that Lady Deathstrike actually comes to her senses just before she dies. You can see her eyes become normal. If the fight had only lasted 5 more seconds she would have joined Wolverine.
Think the intense pain of the adamantium injection is what snapped her out of it. Cyclops needed a pretty hard hit to come back round. Equally rough is you can see the moment Wolverine realizes she's regained herself.
I'm not sure she would have, throughout the characters run for the most part she absolutely loaths Logan and wants to end him the mind control is added for the movie but even without it she wants him on the end of her claws.
I believe it was the pain that brought her out of it. Nightcrawler immediately snapped out of it when he got shot in the arm, Cyclops snapped out of it when Jean used his powers against him and then Deathstrike when Wolverine stabbed her with the injector
I absolutely love watching the reaction videos that feature Kristen. I love how animated she gets when she gets excited about something. Best kind of person to watch a movie with,IMO
Jean Grey is a member of a subspecies of humans known as mutants who are born with superhuman abilities. She was born with psionic powers. The character has also been known as Marvel Girl, Phoenix, and Dark Phoenix at various points in her history. Various incarnations of Jean Grey.
Extremely lol I use to hate how they made wolverine the center in all the movies but I love Hugh jackman now but I hope the MCU redeems cyclops like they’re doin in xmen 97
I was born in 1999 so i got familiar with X-men from 3 different source at the same time, because they still repeated the old x-men animated on Fox Kids, then we got the movies, and X-men Evolution on Cartoon Network. First I hated Cyclops, but Evolution really made me like him, that show did justice I feel.
Not just cyclops, rogue got done the dirtiest, the worst, rogue is more powerful than most of the main xmen like bryan gave us like 3 good movies but still failed to understand the xmen characters and not give us the original yellow comic costumes.
"Logan isn't known for his cheery disposition." It's ironic because Wolvie and Kurt are best friends in the comics. He also became a father figure/mentor to Kitty Pryde and Jubilee and he has great friendships with Storm and Colossus. And even though he doesn't get along with Cyke, Wolvie admires his brother Alex, aka Havok.
I think the reason why everyone sleeps on Cyclops in Singers movies is because He's so underplayed and undervalued, for a character so integral to the main X-men it's a travesty. Wolverine isn't the only bloody X-man, but for the future of the series, even to date with Deadpool 3, it's as if He's the only one that exists lol (Purely because of Jackman).
If the movies did Rogue right then she could have done major damage against the bad guys. Instead they make her kinda there but barely doing anything. The biggest thing I can think of is when she moves the X Jet
In the comics, Mystique is actually Nightcrawler's mother, but they changed it for the movies, so that's why they had that nice moment between them where she gives him nice advice and confidence. And the lady with the long adamantium fingernails is Lady Deathstrike from the comics. In the comics, she had more of a Samurai outfit and she had soem cybernetic implants, but they changed this again for the movies. She's a very cool villain in the comics.
The Wolverine character was created, in the comic books, to be the villain Weapon X. But we readers loved him so much MARVEL changed him into a bad boy "good guy".
Yeah a lot of people love it but i prefer the first one as i love when Charles and Eric are fighting..their dynamic works so good and it wasnt really part of this one..dont get me wrong i love X-2 but X-Men 1 when i was a kid was everything after loving the animated series and then seeing the film..no Gambit though..wish he was part of the main films..
X2 is definitley the best of the original Xmen trilogy in my opinion so much darker perfectly cast and the scene with Magneto escaping and Logan in the room where they performed the Weapon X procedure on him and his ensuing battle with Lady Deathstryke (Chefs kiss) you guys had me laughing so much in th8s video awesome reaction Ladies 😊
Kristen, unfortunately while you were energetically reacting to the Mystique/Logan romp, you missed the part when he finds the 3 scars he gave her while fighting on Liberty Island the previous movie.
They have changed Kurt's parentage a few times. Mystique is his 'father/donor' and Destiny gestates him in the current lore. Good on him having two moms 😅
@@LordVolkov Mystique and Destiny being Nightcrawler's biological parents was the original plan from Chris Claremont (Creator of the three of them), but couldn't see it through at the time of writing because of the Comic Code Authority
Cool names for Kristen in addition to Bobby Drake/Iceman: Mystique = Raven Darkholm Nightcrawler = Kurt Wagner Yuriko Oyama = Lady Deathstrike ("Oyama" means "great mountain" or "great castle" Kitty Pryde = Shadowcat Theresa Rourke = Siryn Victor Creed = Sabertooth (from the first "X-Men")
21:46 in the comics, Mystique is actually Nightcrawler’s mom/dad. His birth mother is Mystique’s wife Irene aka Destiny. When Mystique changes she can change down to the cellular level to create functional reproductive organs of either sex.
This is the best X-Men movie and one of the best comic books movies of all time. The opening scene alone is one of the best comic book movie opening scenes
He IS Wolverine, period. That being said, I still think the movies focused way too much on him. I get him being kind of a cypher for the audience in that first movie, but I did dislike how much the other X-Men essentially played second-fiddle to him.
It's being too tall for Wolverine that makes the love triangle work 😅 If he was 5'3" looking up at Famke Janssen and speaking with a Canadian accent it'd never play 🤣🤣🤣
1:08 Fun Fact: Did you guys know that when Wolverine was introduced as a villain/anti-hero? He was one of Hulk's biggest enemies back than. Later on, he joined the X-Men as you already know and than join the Avengers! However, X-Men is his main team! 🙏🏽💪
2:28 Not sure what this statement by Achara is supposed to be alluding to but notice that he keeps Cyclops by his side. Professor X trusts him over everyone else which is why he leads the X-Men. I’ll also add something here about another comment Achara made earlier when Jean mentions having feelings about something coming or what not. What does she expect Scott to do with a “feeling”? He’ll keep it in mind but what does Achara really want him to do?
Wolverine is basically 15-20 years old memory wise. He doesnt remember much before is bone metal surgery which was in the 80s an these 1st few xmen movies are in the 00s. His past memories before the 80s are pretty much gone at this point
Wolverine's hair style and mutton chops aren't a cosmetic choice he makes when he gets out of bed and out of the shower every morning. It's a side effect of his mutation. He's almost animal-like, with heightened senses and hunting ability, similar to a wolf.
Fun fact,The actress who played Lady Drathstrike, Kelly Hu, voiced Devorah in the mortal kombat games and also voiced Li Mei in MK1. She is also the face model of both Li Mei and Sindel in MK1.
Kristen's personality and spontaneous reactions are always so fun! Her calling out of Jean's infractions with Logan was both hilarious and endearing. Yeah, Jean's a bit of a cheater in this instance, and Logan was seeing it as fair game to go after her. No excuses. Yes Scott is a “Boy Scout”, but he’s also reliable and committed.
Yes, Nightcrawler and Mystique are both blue. It's inherited in Nightcrawler's case 😅 They never actually cover the story in any X Men film, but NC is the son of Mystique and a teleporting mutant called Azazel.
What's more disturbing is Lady Deathstrike; the Asian lady who fought logan isn't dead. Like Logan, has a healing factor and just injected molten metal...In essence she is alive, permanently paralyzed and will probably never die.
I've seen this or a reaction to it about 8 times now. I think around #4 I started to realize I love it so much because it's the Mystique & Magneto show haha. Glad you two appreciate them so much!
I wonder if Alan Cumming knows the extent of the influence portrayal of Nightcrawler had on American culture? Likewise I will say without spoiling anything Kelsey Grammer as Beast if nothing else went right there was the best portrayal of that character. I recall Kelsey in an interview stating he had never heard of X-Men but absolutely enamored with the idea of that character and world. I also listened to an interview with Alan Cumming and Rebecca Romijn. They were asked many questions about the costumes and prosthetics they wore. When asked if he wore anything under the costume Alan responded "Nothing but my cockring!" So aside this stellar performance that is probably what I will always remember him for.
In the comics nightcrawler was the son of mystique, and his father is another mutant named azazel. He kind of looks like the stereotyped version of Satan.
@@rudeboi2003 It's a retcon of a retcon. Mystique being the father and Destiny being the mother of Nightcrawler was Chris Claremont's original plan (Creator of the three of them), but the Comic Code Authority prevented him from seeing it through during his time of writing for them
3:00 Me too, Achara! ❤ 12:02 Mystique gave him iron pills to basically put a lot of iron in the guard's blood so Magneto could take him oyt. 22:19 Achara's face holing it in... 22:34 Both Achara's and Kristen's reactions were BRILLIANT!!😂😂😂 44:41 I can't wait until to see Kristen's reaction to the casting for the prequels. Not privy to her TV/movie viewing beyond this channel, but we all know which characters I am referencing. 😊
0:40 “I love the music” I don’t know if anyone has pointed it out, but it’s Mozart’s “Requiem.” A Requiem is music written for a funeral. Mozart was commissioned to compose it but wasn’t told who it was for. He became very ill while working on it and said that he believed he was writing his own Requiem. He died before finishing it.
In the Golden Age of Marvel on film, this was one of the best sequels. The first time we had multiple releases for Marvel-based films in the same year. X2:X-Men United (the original title) was after Daredevil and before Hulk. Such an incredible progression of story. Most us who knew the comics had an idea of what was coming. Meanwhile, newfound fans who loved the first film could only imagine what was coming. The actions of the gifted, good or bad are magnificently made and nerdgasms for everyone wanting more. But of course, the underline story of discrimination and tolerance in an fantastical world still comes through. The ending did indeed break hearts. But like i said, we as the fans knew what we saw right before credits rolled. X3:The Last Stand (2006) is considered controversial. You'll have to see why for yourselves.
Spider-Man and Blade II both came out in 2002, but I do remember 2003 being the first time we could start to visualize what a potential Infinity War movie could look like.
4:28 If you guys look at the documents on the computer screen, you'll see see different names of Marvel characters like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's names. 🙏🏽💪
