Hi love your work, I've had my bm x5 e53 3lt diesel 2006 + is now at 160,000 I do all the services myself. She is so much fun to drive and tows the boat well. Many thanks.
Nicely done, love the car and very good in depth series. Wish you would have more subscribers you really deserve it. Keep it up dude. Thumbs up from Holland!
Range Rovers are great, especially after you rebuild the engine (at least on the M62tu-powered ones). Mine had no real issues after I went through it and the current owner still loves it. The X5 4.6is is a lot quicker and lighter than a Range Rover, so it makes for a better daily driver at the cost of some off-roading ability. I really like mine, there's nothing quite like it.
I see you're in Arizona, I'm looking for another M62tu powered truck, either Range Rover or X5, do you know anything around? I've been trolling around Craigslist and can't really find anything.
I saw a Range Rover for like $1800 on Craigslist not too long ago. It has a salvage title and supposedly needs motor & transmission work, but it looks intact otherwise. Might be too much of a project but I'd happily buy something like that to use as a beater or tow rig. I also might be thinking of selling the X5 4.6is in the near future, email me at danielzabolotny@gmail.com if you wanna talk.
Saw that Range Rover (sold), as well as another with bad EAS (people won't get back to me).. Unless you're willing to sell your beautiful X5 for $3500 I doubt it's the right truck for me hahah! Undoubtedly you'll get 7k+ for your truck.
MI6 fair enough! I'm actually looking at getting another Range Rover in the future. The X5 4.6is is great but it's almost too car-like and it overlaps with the 540it too much, whereas the Range Rover feels more like a real truck and has far more off-roading capabilities. We'll see how much I get for the X5, it having 215k miles does limit my market somewhat!
For All the good work you're putting into this vehicle, I cannot believe that you haven't purchased simple torque wrench to talk up the items you are replacing, or putting back
I have two torque wrenches, and I do use them for most fasteners, but sometimes there just isn't any room to use one so I have to do it by feel. This video wasn't a full-on tutorial so I didn't include any torque specs, I just put stuff back on off-camera for each step more or less.
Nice job I was so inspired by your videos about the x5, and to be honest I just have seen one in the auction that I am thinking to get. Blue 4.6is 2002 well maintained car with 177k but has engine light on.
Thanks! I was happy to have finished all of this last weekend, before the big heat wave. It's crazy hot this week so I'm probably not going to do too much, haha.
Arizona summer sucks, I don't wanna work in this heat lol and my subs are pissed because lack of updates. Lmk if you wanna do a collab or just talk about youtube sometime. I think we can help eachother out.
Great work Danny. Can you show us how to replace fuel filter of this 4.6is? When I tried it was very hard to take the plastic off from under the vehicle so I put the bolts back. Thanks
Basically on the E53 X5's the front driveshaft is slightly too short so it eventually slips out and strips the splines, causing the problem here. Not sure if that was just isolated to the pre-facelift E53's though, since the facelift ones had different transfer cases. I do know that with a 1" extended driveshaft you need to remove the transfer case to get the new driveshaft in. It'll never come out after that!
How much did this cost in Total? I know the master timing DIY kit is around $250 but when I went on fcpeuro I got very confused because I didn't know exactly what to get. I guess I should wait til I have the car in my possession to figure it out. But I want to change every gasket and o ring I can while the motor is disassembled because when I put it back together the car will be my daily for a very long time and I don't want any air, oil, or coolant leaks at all.
Are you referring to the chain guides? This video is about my transfer case and driveshaft repairs. If you're talking about chain guides, FCP Euro has some good kits for that job. The timing chain guide kit will cover most of the top end stuff, and then you'll want to also buy the valley pan gasket, the lower oil pan gasket, and the upper oil pan gasket. You could also do the rear main seal if you're going to have the engine out completely.
Hamza Marshall it's not really empty, there are 1.6 million people in Phoenix. I filmed the driving parts pretty late at night, like at 2am. That's why it looked empty.
