You have done so much for the owners and future owners of the 6100. You have almost convinced me to buy one. You deserve 18% of the company stock and I appoint you chairman of R&D of the company. You are the man. Tommy

You exemplify the difference between the typical appliance operator, and the true experimental aspects of this hobby which have contributed to many historical technological innovations. Thank you for posting these videos, which will hopefully inspire others to innovate. 73 from NJ N2MXX

Exactly - To me, the true ham spirit is making things work that probably weren't supposed to.

Excellent! Thank you! I hope the manufacturer is listening...and improves it. Still holding off on buying one, they still need to get everything working that they advertised. 73 de N6LPV

I've started a new journey with this radio, I think its a great toy... it wasn't what I bought, but what it turned into is pretty slick.

Thanks again. Can this do PSK31 (transmit and receive)? If not, perhaps you can by adding software. See? I have the Nue-PSK modem (made by Midnight Design Solutions). That modem does PSK31, RTTY and CW and doesn't require a computer and it accepts a keyboard. You connect the radio and that modem and keyboard and you can do PSK31. I mention this to you this so that maybe you can add some software/firmware you can also run PSK31 keyboard and send and receive on the X6100 itself without any other equipment (other than a keyboard). If you guys can manage to do that, then maybe other modes too on the X6100 directly from the radio itself (with just a keyboard) after the appropriate software modifications of course. Directly doing digital modes with this with nothing more than just an outboard keyboard would be a huge win!

I don't see any reason why we couldn't!

I did return my Xiegu X6100 to Radioddity, I do wish that Xiegu had taken more time before releasing it and resolved many of the issues that it shipped with. It is a very nice looking Radio but I purchased it to use not to experiment with, good luck and I know you are having a ball 🏀👍 73. KV5P

It's possible that there are a few blocks before the beginning of the first (only) partition containing a booter (originally "boot sector" when it fit in 512 bytes back on x86 PCs). Perhaps fdisk or one of the more modern tools will show the starting block number of the partition that you see on the disk. If it's not 0 (or maybe if it's not 1 either) you might try dd-ing from the working card to one of your blanks, but not using the partition device, instead using the base device (maybe leave off the partition number in the device name). If that makes the blank work, then there's before the beginning stuff that's important (or just possibly a magic number in the meta data at the beginning of the partition). Of course, it's been years since I really knew what I was doing, and probably you knew all that anyway, but I thought that it was worth mentioning.

I use a FAT /boot partition and the rest is on ext4. That is similar to how Puppy does it.

Not currently, but maybe in the future when we crack the software more.

When you tried to copy/clone what did you do? Did you do a DD or try some other tool? There is a command switch in DD that does a bit for bit copy of a disk meaning from the very begining to the very end it's a complete mirror image
@temporarilyoffline
@temporarilyoffline 2 года назад
I've tried DD, I've tried using the pi-clone tool (which might be a front end for DD), I've also tried to make the card image from scratch a few times.

Something feels like you are losing something with the format of the SD card when trying to clone the SD Card that boots up to Raspberry Pi OS. Just thinking out loud
