Man I got a long story about my first impression of you Josh way back in the day and how i disliked you, and how its changed and how I view you now as admirable role model. You are an inspiration for many and like yourself, Reckful was a bright star in some dark times for me. Ive cried hours now but I find comfort that there are people on twitch like you inspired from the start by him that are taking content to the next level with the spreading of positivity. I hardly comment on shit , usually I feel like its just not worth it. But in times like this with 2020 and now Reckful passing. Last year i wen't through a very bad period of my life. I was super close to ending it all, but something kept me going and made me seek help. I got diagonosed with ADHD and finally my past made sense. I wish people would realize that being a "man" and not dealing with your feelings is not a viable solution. Confront them and be honest is way harder and in my eyes shows a person with way more courage. So much respect to you Xar for not being afraid to cry and show how much Byron really meant to you. You and Bajheera have such an amazing outlook on things and i wish more people would listen and take to heart your message cause if they did the world would become a kinder and better place for a lot of people. Thank you for being who you are and inspiring not only me, but a lot of people to become better. Much love and i wish you the best in these hard times.

It's so sad. I didn't know the guy, and really never watched him much, but I knew of him and have seen stuff by him a fair bit over the years, but I've really felt sad since I heard yesterday. I felt shocked first but then I wasn't really surprised, and that's a really sad thing as well. I knew of his depression, I knew of his brother, I knew a little about some of his struggles, but then it seemed like he was starting to find a good place. I knew about his game that he was working on recently and he seemed happy, so with all of that it's just extremely sad. I'm really happy to see all the positivity that's been expressed. It really is a beautiful thing to see someone affect so many people without ever meeting them. RIP Byron!

I like this guys attitude. We need more guys like this to be an example for our Youth, especially young men. That is how we fix the toxic environments in Gaming... Showing that you can be positive, nice, show empathy, and love for one another. Another thing being him mentioning that he works out, runs, trys to eat healthy, and wakes up early. All those things are incredibly impactful towards your well-being.. positivity spreads like wildfire, and it only takes one person to make the spark. Keep doing what you're doing brother! You're the type that makes the big changes.

Thanks for staying positive always. I've been watching you since 2012 and you've always been a positive influence on me, even since long before your incredible physical health progress. Your positive and can-do attitude has influenced my life. You know, I started by watching Reckful earlier in my WoW career, and he fascinated me with his analysis of resilience in particular. He was the first one who explained the math of resilience in a way that made it clear to the community that getting 1% resilience when you're at 60% is more than doubly as effective, where each 1% at that point, despite diminishing returns, was more valuable than any other stat. His whole strategy with stats combined with his incredible focus and attention during arenas made it clear that that's how he reached 3k rating first. He innovated and shared his innovation with the rest of the community. I work in video games now, including RPGs, and Reckful's stat analysis has stuck with me when analyzing my company's game stat designs. I took a break when WotLK ended, during Cataclysm, and when I came back just when MoP started in 2012, I started watching you, Xaryu. This was before your physical transformation, and even then, I was amazed by your positive attitude to never give up. You inspired me to not only be a better WoW player, but also a better person in general. Also I actually beat you a few times in arena (as I ended up getting Duelist 3 times in MoP) and every time, I watched your reactions to being beaten and you had a way better reaction than I expected. I immaturely expected you to be mad and was actually hoping for it back then, but when you showed your resilience by staying cool about losing and analyzing what happened, it inspired me to grow up and act the same way, even though I'm older than you (32 now, going on 33 in October). I have a kid now, and I plan to pass on the influence that Reckful, you, and Pikaboo, my 3 favorite gaming personalities, have had on my life, to my kid. I want to make sure he grows up with great mental health, mental resilience, and understands the value of treating others the way he would want to be treated. Doing that should be easy for me with the time I've spent watching you 3. Thanks for your time streaming, Xaryu, and thanks to Reckful for always being amazing. I'm gonna miss him. P.S. I cried too, man. There's no shame in it. It shows you're human and you love the people who influenced you in a positive way.

Reckful is my favorite steamer of all time. Got into many games cause of him and he influenced how I played those games. Also had the coolest and funniest steams always. IMO the first pioneer and always paved the way for streamers and content creation in the gaming realm. RIP GOAT!

Reckful was easily my favorite streamer. Coming home from school i would literally watch reckful 3 on repeat for weeks just in awe that somebody could be that good and got me into arenas and pvp. Started watching his streams after and grew attached to how down to earth and entertaining he was. All the struggles we face mentally he faced as well and then some. He helped me through my depression and felt like a friend when i had none whenever i tuned into his stream. RIP Byron u did more for me then u will ever know u will be missed.

i watched reckful growing up, he was the reason i wanted to play a rogue. He had such control and was just so fun to watch. hard to believe he's gone. It's so easy for people to be toxic behind a cell phone or a computer screen, and with all the crazy shit going on in the WoW community this was the last thing we needed to happen. This is so heartbreaking. Hearing Reckful open up with Dr. K allowed me to get in tune with my own issues and feel like I wasn't alone. I was gonna message Byron about how much he's helped me through my own overdose/suicide attempts but figured he wouldn't ever see it.. I wish he understood how much good he's done for this world. Josh, I may not know you personally but much like Reckful I followed you for many years throughout my time playing WoW. I stopped playing the game years ago, but I fondly look back during the MoP era when streaming started gaining traction for this game. Watching both of you progress in life as I was growing up myself kept me inspired to do something beyond the gaming. You were one of the biggest motivations for me to take on the gym a year back and make changes to my health. I really love what you are doing and how you present the idea of transcending yourself as a person and not just as a gamer. Please continue to do what you are doing, as you serve as a inspiration for myself and many others who look up to you. Reckful's death hit me hard, but I will keep using it as fuel to pursue my dream of becoming a therapist to help the very thing that took his life from him. Thank you for driving change in our community. You are absolutely right that toxicity in the gaming community is something we should address more and push away.

It's important to remember that at the end of the day Reckful was fighting a losing battle to depression/mental illness. Would it have been better if the community was a less toxic place? of course but i'm not certain it would've changed the outcome in Reckfuls situation. Appreciate the fact you have a healthy mind that allows you to think clearly and be positive.

I grew up watching Reckful streams and videos all his old pvp videos on wow to current day odds videos with all his math and methods behind how he got these crazy odds numbers. You'll never know how much one person mean so much until he/she makes a huge impact in your life not just in general, but also in gaming sense. Reckful was that type of person who made tremendous impact not just in the WoW and Twitch Community, but also in the gaming Community as well. This should a huge lesson for all of us that if you see someone who's having a depression or struggling things in life, help them. It doesn't matter how difficult the person is, give your best to help them as much as you can, because they'll know that you actually give a damn about them.

we need laws now for online bullying/ harassment and people need to be held accountable and criminally punished on an individual basis, and if you relentlessly bully or harass someone for an extended period of time, and it leads to their suicide, you should be charged with murder.

I didn't know Reckful irl, but as a gamer, who doesn't know him. I've struggled with depression my whole life and it runs in my family bad. This effected me alot and i pray for his family and loved ones!

Not to be too nerdy here but it's important to understand that there's a strong correlation between 'trolling' and what's commonly referred to as 'everyday sadism'. Like autism, sadism is a spectrum. At the extreme end is the commonly imagined stereotypes of blatant torture & delight, but at the less extreme end of the spectrum, is a simple delight from causing, or even merely observing, another's angst. Playful banter between people who've become somewhat familiar with each other is one thing, but the more extreme comments like "kys", etc., are the sorts of things that, when said to strangers, are a dead giveaway that someone is a bona-fide sadist. Sadism has been added to what had been labeled the 'dark triad' of personality traits - psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism - to henceforth be known as the 'dark *tetrad'.* It's definitely a problem in the gaming community, but it's not restricted to gaming. And while such people often minimize their behavior as _'just having fun',_ it isn't actually a minimal concern. As a personality traits/disposition, it should be understood correctly and, once identified as such, the offending deviants should be excluded from the communities, forums, games, etc. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a cure for sadism so it's unlikely that those who exhibit sadistic behaviors will ever change their predatory behavior. All that said, let's be attentive to distinguish between genuine fun banter among those with whom we're familiar, and the truly toxic behavior of sadists/trolls. RIP, Reckful. You were my first inspiration to rogue.

I know the negativity is a reason a lot of streamers don't show their losses on videos but I'm glad you do from time to time and go over what you guys did wrong and could have done better. To me, that's a more positive way to show people how to play better rather than always showing wins and games that go well. I've been watching your videos a lot lately and I love the enthusiasm you have for the game and how fun you make it, even playing with newcomers and helping them get better. Keep doing what you're doing and inspiring because social media can be brutal and a lot of people take the few negative comments harder than they take a ton of positive ones.
