I've heard devs say the "30 FPS is cinematic" so many times that the joke is getting really old. They should have been just be honest about the X/S not being able to handle UE5 at 60FPS.
Well. At the time it wasn't clear how "bad" Ue5 will be. Technically current consoles are fine capable machines but ue5 bend over much more powerful pc in wrong hands... And wrong hands it's any studio except epics them self. Problem it's developers still use word "cinematic" for people that thinks it mean better graphics when talking about fps. It's just marketing bs and cringe.
The problem here is the console wars and Xbox marketing insinuating that games are going to be 60 fps this generation while dropping multiple 30 fps first party games alreadty. For me as someone that's benchmarked a lot of UE5 games and tech demos on high end PC hardware I get why the game runs at 30 fps on console. The consoles cant handle the latest in UE5 tech and deliver a 60 fps experience without huge compromises to visual fidelity and resolution. For Ninja Theory this was the game they wanted to make, a cinematic experience with highest fidelity graphics you can make as of right now with UE5. BTW this game is going to be just as demanding on PC. You can forget 60 fps unless you have higher end hardware and even still it will probably struggle.
@@flipyapd2321 Aaron Greenberg said 60 fps would be the standard output with possibility of 120. That's what has a bunch of people upset over the first party 30 fps Xbox releases. That and the fact the competition has had 60 fps modes in all their first parties and third party exclusives as far as I'm aware.
Hmm it is the most powerful console.. as it stands hellblade 2 still is currently the best looking game on console shouldn't be hard for for people to see where that power went too...
@@sjneow no in this case the series x was the focus point and they simply scaled down from there for the S... if they wanted it to be 6o the game would have been 60.. 60 was not a goal for them with this game... 30 was the target fps from the start.
I honestly don't have a problem with Hellblade 2 running at 30fps, but I don't buy the devs claim that its "more cinematic". Its obvious that they aren't able to do 60fps on UE5 with 4K graphics yet so they are deflecting and changing the narrative.
Yeah it's BS. It's about optics. They should've said the truth which is they clearly want to use the latest in gaming technology to deliver the highest fidelity cinematic experience possible and that a 60 fps mode is not possible with the current hardware. Between this and Xbox marketing insinuating that games would be targeting 60 this generation you have kind of a crap show which fanboys are trying to unsuccessfully defend and the PS fanboys will obviously use as fuel for their imaginary war.
Not really bs but they should have said they choose 30 fps to push the graphics instead...while it is true 30 fps is more cinematic... there real goal with the game was to push the graphics as much as they could and from what I've seen they achieved it.. but somthing else had to be lowered since consoles have locked hardware... there is no parts upgrades to simply get more game resources
Looks more like shitty choice of words by marketing team that think that audience it's dumb as sticks. And it's kind a fair because I know some people that not much intro games and they think "cinematic" it's about graphic quality.
This game was announced with the console they marketed the console as being able to “usher in framerates weve never seen before” the “standard” was said to be 60. To not even have a performance OPTION is beyond ridiculous. Microsoft has no shame

What do you really expect the Series X has a 4000 series CPU with a 6000 series GPU packaged inside an APU. I'm personally not bothered about the game being at 30fps although I can understand the frustration. The truth will always remain if you want better performance your better off getting a PC.

I've since made up my mind after trying out the consoles after being stuck with mobile and old nintendo systems. Starting with the one X then the series S i thought it would be a better experience but it became more of a hassle trying to maintain game pass subs, I couldn't use peripherals that i wanted to and some games i could find on PC weren't available. Ive switched to PC and haven't went back since
I watched the video. And yeah, the "cinematic" BS is a cop out. But Ninja Theory does not want to "make the visuals worse" for a 60 fps mode. That is the actual creative decision. They're pushing the Series consoles as hard as they can, and that's why, tbh, no game comes close in graphics on console. Not God of War, not Horizon, not anything. And they want to maintain a high minimum visual fidelity. You can bring up the same tweet from Greenberg again and again, but instead of funnier, it becomes more annoying each time. Especially because the Series X is in fact the most powerful console out right now, and the PS5 running some games at higher framerates and lower resolution doesn't make it more powerful. Again, to reiterate, I don't support the decision, but I expected it with how the game was marketed, so it's easier to accept. Also, the problem with PS first party is that basically all of their games are third person over the shoulder cinematic action games, most of the time with stealth elements. So I'd be really pissed if Xbox started to only make Hellblade clones from now on. But as it is, as just one game, it'll act as a nice palette cleanser. And it's $50 / on Game Pass, not $70.

i even bought a 165hz monitor to finally get 120 fps on the series X. now i’ll probably have to wait until the next xbox model to get what was advertised way back in 2020.
I'm not personally bothered by 30 don't get me wrong 60 is great but looking at Hellblade 2 I can see why it's 30. If I had the option to play at 60 but take a massive hit to visuals I would still take the 30 as this game wouldn't look as good at 60. If this was a fast paced shooter I would understand but I really don't think 60 is necessary for a game like this.
atleast sony has the middle ground down with 60fps and great graphics and many more options.Where xbox doesnt give u options only 30fps and hellblade 2 is not even full 4k rumour was that it drops to 964p

Sure devs choose what they want or feel they want to use. But that doesn't change PS5 having 60fps on outdated engines just like xb has games that are 60fps. But these are all outdated engines or personal in house engines. Sure HFW can be 60fps it's also on the PS4 with A in house engine. I bet you if they used UE5 & all it's features it wouldn't be 60fps nor would it be on the PS4. And again maybe a lot of gamers don't want UE5. But they chose to use it. With all it's features. Which would make XbsX or PS5 run it At 30fps. This isn't A cross gen game that can be easily 60 because it has to run on the PS4 or Xb one. Ppl wanna scream oh PS5 doing 60fps but X can't. I personally don't care if it's a stable 30 I'm happy that really does not bother me I just don't want to see no dips people care about frame rates but if it's stable it doesn't matter

Do companies seriously defend 30fps games with excuses like that while Playstation 1 with games like Omega Boost were pushing the console's limit and still they run at 60fps smoothly?
you are telling me hellblade 2 on unreal 5 is more cinematic than death stranding director's cut on decima engine or Alan wake 2 usingremedy's northlight engine. those games are very cinematic and still able to get a 60fps option. you are telling me that the world's powerful console cannot do 60fps when the weaker ps5 can.
UE5 now a days it's just a mark of poor performance. It's cpu heavy as hell and developers don't give a f about optimisation on it because they have no idea how to do that. You talk about engines that studios makes for them self and that why they know how to work with it... Well... Usually.
And their 60 fps option looks like trash to the point it's not even worth playing the 60 fps option 💀 also death stranding is a last gen game that has nowhere near the graphic fidelity of Hellblade 2 😂😂
why did they not complain about ff7 rebirth being 30 fps even the 60 fps mode is at 30 fps no one complain about ff16 or there other exclusives they never complain but when it is a xbox game oh lord

Sony will give you a 60fps option, even if the game has to drop to 1080p or lower. Didn't Phil Spencer once say that he has several teams that are extremely knowledgeable about Unreal Engine in general? What happened to all that talk Phil? The fuckin game even has letterbox bars at the top and bottom and you know those will be modded out.
