Brooo, exactly! I tried to watch their review of Army of the Dead but couldn't watch more than 5 minutes because Joe wouldn't stop butting in every time OJ and Alex would speak their piece.

I hear what you say, but the dynamic is good here, both are pushing a bit. Joe is just unbearable if it comes too interruptions. He says he's gonna let someone speak, but nobody can utter three words and Joe barges in. Here it is a healthy back-and-forth imo. I love Joe and his passion, but he is just too powerful and can't help himself, even when he tries and when ppl point it out.

I'm a FO fan. I loved 3 and NV. I thought FO4 was good, not great like those other two at their respective time of release though. What didn't you like about it in particular?

@@DV-ou1yu I could write a thesis about everything I hate about Fallout 4, but I'll just go over the biggest reasons for brevity's sake. I will preface this with saying that I have played countless thousands of hours in Fallout 1/2/3/NV and I could barely put over 100 hours into 4. I haven't played 4 in several years and I'm writing this at 3am so bear with me if I'm rambling a bit and not being overly specific. I bought F4 the day it came out without having followed development at all and having no preconceived notions about it other than it being a Fallout game. It turned out to be one of many games I see as having egregiously wasted its potential. The voiced protagonist completely ruins any semblance of roleplaying as your own character. They unneccessarily hard-coded the dialogue trees to ALWAYS require four answers; even if it didn't fit into the conversation. The only reason they went with voiced protagonists in the first place was because the lead writer, Emil Pagliarulo, was mad that an extremely small minority of idiotic players skip all of the dialogue. So instead of writing more compelling dialogue they redirected A LOT of time, money and resources to (re)build 4 around the voiced protagonist from the ground up. They could have put that effort into the rest of the game, but instead they squandered it. The protag VAs sound either coked out of their mind half the time or bored out of their mind the other half with little in between. The smarmy dialogue just really made me hate my own character more than anyone else in the game and as such playing it started to feel like a chore. It would have been substantially cheaper and better for a game masquerading as a RPG to stick with a silent protagonist. Every single thing about the synths doesn't belong in any Fallout game. Microchips do not really exist in the Fallout universe and they give no real answers for how the Institute is light-years more advanced than say the Enclave, Think Tank, House or the BoS, but also extremely stagnated at the same time. They took what was a throwaway reference to Blade Runner from Fallout 3 that added some mystery to the universe and decided to make that the entirety of 4. Every single faction is extremely stupid and nonsensical in their own way. I can't emphasize enough how unbelievably dumb the railroad in particular are for wasting so much time and resources into saving fucking robots instead of real people in a post-apocalyptic world. The fact that the entire plot hinges on whether you care about the "lives" of androids or not does a disservice to the overarching theme of Fallout being the unchanging condition of war on humanity, even after "the war to end all wars". If I wanted to wax philosophical about transhumanism then I would watch Ghost in the Shell or play Deus Ex, because they did it a LOT better. Hell, even Old World Blues does a better job of it despite not being overly serious. At no point did I care if a synth "lived" or "died" and I really wonder how many other people genuinely cared about saving synth "lives". At no point did I think "wow, I wonder if that NPC is a synth!" like the writers intended, because it didn't change anything for me either way as I hated most of the NPCs. This might be nitpicking to some, but the weapon modding/crafting system was a major step-down from NV, mostly because of the sheer lack of weapon variety. Pipe weapons are ubiquitous and awful; they simply shouldn't exist. Sure there are more mods, but most of them are borderline useless and there's no real reason to use all but a handful of them (quality over quantity). They changed power armor for the worse and what once was something you had to work for is just given to you immediately. The fusion core system is a subpar way to balance the fact you get power armor basically as soon as the game starts. It was all really unnecessary and they could have spent the time they wasted changing the power armor mechanics on any of the myriad of issues plaguing the game. This is relatively minor, but I also didn't care for how they changed the perk system. I felt like the Jack-of-all-trades-and-master-of-none on my first playthrough, because I wasn't minmaxing and dumping points into a specific tree. I think that the prior system was much more straightforward and really made what perks you choose matter immediately and all the way to the endgame rather than being able to eventually have every perk. I can see why they merged skills/perks though. They retconned the creation of jet (among other things), because many of the writers/devs obviously never bothered playing any prior Fallout game. That in and of itself wasn't a huge issue, but Bethesda's response to fans calling them out on it was despicable. Pete Hines, head of PR/marketing at Bethesda and an asshole, basically gave Fallout fans the middle finger and said that the lore is subject to change on their whim. As a huge Elder Scrolls fan too I am very wary of how they'll handle TES VI with them caring little about lore consistency. I'd personally say that the whole settlement system especially didn't fit into a Fallout game, but I'll concede that it could be a fun addition if implemented properly. In Fallout 4 it is far from being implemented properly. I soon realized every single settlement would be the same thing over and over again. The settlers are completely incompetent and you have to run around the Commonwealth babysitting them constantly even if you build up your settlements "the right way". This turned out to be another setback for development as they diverted resources away from aspects of the game that really needed it to cash in on the open-world, crafting, survival fad. It took Bethesda SIX YEARS to make Fallout 4, because they implemented many mechanics that completely bogged the game down and added little to nothing in terms of real depth. I liked the combat and exploration overall. There are some cool NPCs (and locations) here and there, but none felt compelling enough to change my opinion about the rest of them. Having essential NPCs in Bethesda games never bothered me nearly as much before as it did in F4, because I just wanted to kill so many of them which is the direct antithesis of my usual do-gooder, max-good-karma, helping-everybody-I-can, only-killing-when-necessary playthroughs. Fallout 3 is far from the pinnacle of good writing, but it wasn't nearly as much of an uncharacteristic clusterfuck marred by baffling factions with aimless motives like 4 is.

The dialogue tree wasn't Mass Effect Andromeda bad, but at least it had more choice than let's say a Witcher 3. I felt exploration wasn't as good as previous titles though. I wouldn't say the factions were nonsensical, but I think the lack of a grey zone/depth in purpose for each really hampered the experience. I can't believe they didn't have an option to unify groups. I believe Outerworlds allowed that.

It had no choice if it was to release on the PS4 Pro and Xb1X at all. Those consoles are meant to be merely enhancers unlike something like the New 3DS. If management gave a crap about quality, they would've scrapped the 8th gen versions altogether. Even with the work on the Stadia version, that would've made things FAR less rough.

I agree to game should have just came out on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X and the next-gen console and lead the base consoles behind.

Because the game has been fixed especially if you play on Next Gen it's not perfect but it's above playable and it's good.

Yeah, I mean... either they were committed to rolling out patches & repairing CDPR's name (as best they could, at this point) or they just weren't. I doubt Sony's removing the game from their digital store gave them any additional pressure to work faster or something. Or in other words... the devs at CDPR aren't celebrating right now and saying, "alright... now that were selling on Sony again, we can stop crunching".

@@DV-ou1yu Oh, it definitely hurt their sales. My point is, the damage was already done and Sony keeping the game off their digital storefront didn't make CDPR work any faster on patches. Either they were gonna work on post-launch support or they weren't.

I played at release on the One X and had a decent enough time with it, but the state it was in on all the base consoles was utterly disgraceful. Fair play to anyone who enjoyed it on the older machines but holy shit I'm not sure expectations and reality have ever been much further apart...
