This just seems absolutely absurd, very surprising that Astro STILL haven’t done anything about this issue. If I was looking for a new headset I wouldn’t even think about this anymore which is a shame because underneath this issue is a really great headset. Astro need to fix this.

Thank you!!! It worked perfect. Also they sound a lot better if you use the custom equalizer in the Dolby Access app instead of the game setting with performance mode. I can't wait to get another headset, bye bye Astros.
Very disappointed in Astro. Like u said their update works but it’s only stereo sound. I’m forced to use Dolby atmos but with that I can’t use any of my presets on my mixamp. Tons of people are getting the extractor but it’s limited to only 60hz. #lame
The astro adapter is a con Xbox n ps5 are 2.1hdmi the adapter is standard hdmi and Theres hundreds on Amazon, I put the lead in the 3rd eARC hdmi is made specialty for low latency sound and the difference was huge but you put your TV on optical n TV speaker n ps5 in pcm
I have a 4k 144hz monitor with no optical. I have both the PS5 and XSX. Highly disappointed on Microsoft and Sony. My Astro a40 TR's sound like junky 20 dollar headphones. Only way I found to get better audio was enabling Dolby Atmos and disabling the Mixaxp Dolby SS. Even the official astro hdmi splitter is OOS.
@@franz_kjaer sounds better but not by much with atmos. I ended up buying 2 hdmi splitters from Astro to use optical (to use on ps5 and xsx Went back and enabled the mixamp Dolby ss.

Thanks I was thinking I should do this myself and lucky my tv supports Dolby Atmos as well, I have both the a50 gen 3 and the a40 mix amp pro which I use the most! What volume do set your tv at? And do you still get Dolby atmos sound quality?
You don't have to worry about TV volume. Matter of fact you can put TV on mute while using the headset. All it does is it diverts the audio source back to your base station. You just adjust volume from Astro headset. And yes Dolby works fine this way
Hi sorry to trouble you again how do I know if the sound is coming though the optical cable and not the usb on the Astro? Because I’m been using my ones with the usb
@@ImKevBe so if you take the Astro update (which they released it 3 years ago for Xbox series X and S and PS5), the audio WILL come out of the USB. But hooking up the optical to back of TV (which it gets it's audio through the HDMI connected to Xbox) will override the Astro USB audio. This results in a much better sound quality

I was doing this for awhile all of a sudden last night it just stutters the audio but once I put the input to tv the tv plays fine through headset but not on Xbox anymore
So I have a very important question. I use the Dolby Atmos setting and it’s amazing with certain games so switching to HDMI audio headset will make it so I won’t have it anymore? If so is that even worth it? Thanks!
Possibly, I did this when the new console had rolled out. It just sucks that they removed the optic port. Hopefully Astro would go completely Bluetooth when they come with new next gen
@@salpanahi when I set this up with optical from my TV. It makes me set everything to uncompressed and I don't even have a USB headset option anymore. It seems to be working tho I can actually h3ar the difference in my eq options but not sure if the dolby button is going to work properly since it won't let me select the dolby option on the hdmi format. It let's me select it but as soon as I leave the settings menu it switched it back to stero uncompressed.
@@grizzlystr8xl456 yeah I noticed that too back then it would kick me out of the Dolby too. But I really didn't care since I was happy to get some descent audio
So I just tried this and it works great.. Only problem is that my Samsung QLED does not support 120 HZ like the XSX supports. I bought a new 1440p 144 hz monitor that arrives next week but has no optical cable port :/
Just got these on Amazon. The feel is amazing. However, it isnt working with my series X and it has to be because of that audio cord not being able to plug in. The audio cord they give us is very short and I hide wires through the wall so I dont want to run optics to my tv. This sucks! Wish I would of known it was optic dependent to the TV! They dont work the way Astro shows on youtube set up for the Xbox Series X.
Question. In the event of not having an optical input on my monitor. Will the hdmi-optical extractor give me the full experience of the “Astro power”. Because I have it connected via usb and it sounds worst than my precious HyperX.. please let me know, thanks.
Unfortunately I haven’t tried that myself. But a friend of mine tried an optical extractor on his A40 and it did not work for him. Again I’m not sure and that was his experience
Astro makes a HDMI splitter actually where u can pull optical signal This would work perfect for users with monitors Otherwise The firmware update grants u audio via USB
Just use the optical cord that your Astros come with. Obviously plug one end of the optical cord to the Astro base station, and the other end to back of your TV, and you should be good to go.
I mean who knows when and if they'll come up with a new one that would be fully compatible out of the box. But I'd use something else if you already don't have and wait and see what they come up with
You have seriously done something wrong, I have turtle beach 800 which are really good but the Astro A50s are on another level, don't upgrade from your laptop just sort your sound presets from the commander and they are better than any headphones I have had and I only buy the best
Oh don't use the update mine downloaded the Xbox preset even though i put ps5 and they sounded terrible so I took them back never used the update just the command center and there really good
The thing is, I have already updated it prior to the Xbox coming out. The only reason why I’m here is because of this annoying ‘tick tick static noise that keeps appearing’ I’ve never had that issue on the Xbox one x, any of you guys experienced it?
Try unplugging the USB port to the base station, turn off the headset and wait for 10 seconds. Then plug the base station back in turn on the headset. It's a bug, sometimes the devices don't recognize each other so. Xbox doesn't think you have Mic available
@@Reptiile that's sucks. The only thing I can think of is to make sure you take the update on Astro base station. Also make sure the switch on the base station is on the Xbox instead PC
Bro I just put my ps5 into my 2.1 hdmi eARC port then bypass the settings on the TV astro box so it's a star and it's a huge difference, saved me £30 to £50 for a splitter that doesn't even do 2.1hdmi so try that but out it in the eARC hdmi and put optical n speaker output on ur TV my TV is a LG so you put the optical from astro in the TV and your good to go
The PCM is better quality, just think you worked out what these so called top tech guys couldn't well done, there's a huge amount of splitters on Amazon and yeah mine is gen4 and it works great
@@animenerd6673 I worded it wrong I meant I get 4k 120hz with my 2.1 hdmi TV so I connected the hdmi to the eARC and optical from astro to the TV as they are ready for soundbar and it works perfect just as good as the PS4 optical output
@@footballasylum6239 yeah i managed to do it bro, sounds a lot better 👊🏾 Only problem is I still experience that odd tick tick static noise which results in me having to reboot the dock so the static stops.
